I cant beat Carbon (Final Boss)

When I tried to enter the canyon duel against Darius in the SLR, I actually started on the roof of a building in the city! Wish I'd taken a screenshot, I almost peed myself laughing!

ontopic: I wouldn't suggest using an exotic. Or atleast the McLaren SLR. Cause that thing's too long for canyon duels. IMO

I had that once too. When I was going to race Angie and her Challenger.
I was still in the city and "Falling behind!!" appeared.

boss canyon races aren't all that hard once you get used to it. i found it to be quite challenging when i first played it in the demo but realised that i wasn't getting anywhere quickly by trying to drift down the track so instead i just started to race normally and it just got easier from there... a bit too easy if i may say. i used a skyline to beat darius by overtaking him on first try, piece of cake. generally i have my cars setup to full oversteer to try and solve the crap understeer that every single car (except audi lemans - thats just crazy oversteer >=D and i love it) inherently has, but its only marginally better. nfs:carbon tuning is not great imho compared to tuning in nfs:mw coz that was instat changes for quick back to back comparison and also the changes were more sensitive and much more noticable than carbon's tuning.

Well I got problem winning him in the 3rd race, the 2 laps circuit race between me and Darius. I used Evo 9. That Darius just take every shortcut he can find man!

So my only option now is to start again and i can't be bothered as of now. I probably will start a new game sometime soon, but just so my little lad can have a drive every now and again, and so that he can create a new car because he loves to use autosculpt etc. I doubt i'll be on it much now, as while i type this, i'm currently installing GTR2 which has just popped through my letter box this morning.

to be brutally honest this is the 1st game in the nfs series in which i cannot be bothered to complete the career mode a 2nd time. so it seams a game can actually be judged by its title logo =/

Well I have to say I'm surprised at this topic. I mean yeh, it wasn't an easy race, but it was by no means hard. I beat the guy with a STOCK Supra by pulling away on the second run. There's one sweeping left about halfway down where he's quite slow - from there he never got close again.

TBH, I thought the final race wars was much harder than this race.

On topic : It depends on ur driving skills/style too..
I mean if ur well suited for a particular driving style ..eg: exotics...maybe it would be easier for u to beat the Boss with an exotic car..and find it tough to beat him in a tuner...

U just have to find the class type that u are well suited to

you gotta take the shortcuts too. that's how i won. you have to keep looking behind too, because once he gets by, you're gonna have race twice as hard.

I was able to beat Darius on the street race the first time around, but only barely. I think he tried to take a shortcut near the end, or got caught up in traffic. I was cheap enough to hit NOS since I didn't make it through that section cleanly and expected a speed boost from him. Quite the opposite. He slowed down a lot towards the end.

The canyon race took a few tries with the Lan Evo. My problem was mainly falling on that last guardrail. Mainly during run number 2. I could negotiate that corner all right when I was trailing Darius. Maybe he kinda nudged me.

But, as someone said, there's a long, sweeping left, a high speed corner after the tunnel that Darius takes slowly. If you can race the first part cleanly and stay close, you can always try to overtake him there. I ended up colliding with him a bunch of times trying to do that. Finally, was able to overtake and win without the run where I was leading. If I didn't overtake, I probably would have kept losing. The final guardrail, and then the way the final stretch looks as though it winds, when you can take it relatively straight kept throwing me off.

Just beat Darius, didn't find him that hard to beat. Took me two tries to win in the canyon, managed to overtake him with my Skyline

I also started a new career, just for racing Daruis. I want to win him using different cars

I was using the Lan Evo IX as well. I thought about sticking with the Z350 the entire way, but just had to have a Lan Evo since playing the game with that car was a big reason I bothered buying the game in the first place. I really shouldn't have won that first attempt against Darius, even thought about restarting it. Very sloppy run; wall scrapes towards the end, hit Darius too many times at the beginning of the race while trying to pass him.

Nice pass with the Corvette. Is it that much faster than than the Lan Evo on the canyons? Or is it more about you getting more used to the course?

I passed Darius in a high speed curve(highlighted in red from the attachment)when I was using the EVO.....
Corvette is awesome.....It accelerates so fast.

You can actually overtake Daruis at the first corner, but you'll lose 5000 points if you try to overtake him(because you will hit him from the side)

I don't know how you guys do it with the Evo. I just couldn't keep up with Darius in the circuit or the last duel. Everytime I down-shifted after entering a turn, and tried to up-gear while coming out of the turn, I would lose all the power I had, and the car would need to start revving up again to get near the red-zone.

I did manage to eventually beat him with the Z06, but that was after tuning for max acceleration and max grip. Even then, I couldn't pass him at all on the first run. Only reason I managed to win was because I somehow managed 145k points in the first run, and so scraped by with 7k pt remaining on the 2nd run.

Yep. Racing him on the circuit race with an Evo is a pain in the a**. I never buy another car though cause I only have 300k. =[.

Take all possible shortcuts(Don't take the shortcut that pass through the "advertisement board" and DON'T hit anything. I used NOS at the start(in order to take the lead).
