Carbon drifting sucks. Solution: drift in Most Wanted! =D

Post by 93360 »

ive never liked drift physics, try driving normally with it, its hopeless. a while ago i posted up a method to drift in nfsmw (linkage here: http://forum.nfsunlimited.net/viewtopic ... ht=#237953) and basically i think it totally pwns any sort of drifting you can achieve with carbon. for the setup of the car ill post a pic below with the info.

give it a try =)

btw its basically full performance options including junkman's (my evo was missing a few but shouldnt make too much difference, just make sure to have the transmission, engine, brakes, and turbo junkman parts). if anything is unlcear in the linked post then ask here and ill c if i can answer.

cheers,
93360.

Drifting in MW = no drifting score

I love carbon drifting ^.^

i have a solution to that as well. if you want to recieve a drifting score while drifting in nfsmw, write some ridiculously huge number on a post-it note and stick it on your monitor, or you could type 2^2 into a calculator and then type ans^2 and continuously press equals while ur drifting, problem solved =) congrats you have a drift score.

as ive said b4, theres no sense of involvement in carbon drifting, it drifts all by itself its stupid. i mean all you have to do is get into gear and then just turn in the right direction, auto drifting kicks in and job done. with nfsmw drifting you have to accelerate to the desired speed (for the corner or wateva) and then initiate it by using the emergency-brake while down shifting and then holding the drift by counter-steering appropriately. no driver assists, pure skill thats what im on about.

Drifting in Carbon is more realistic then in MW.

well... you see there was no actual drifting mode in most wanted hence no drift physics hence it feels more realistic.

If I had never played carbon b4 and only saw a video of sum1 drifting in carbon, i might have felt that it might have been realistic, but having been drifting about in free-roam and in races while playing nfsmw, i find the drift physics in carbon to be quite a shock difference. there is absolutely no way you could drive around a normal race with those drift physics and still post consistently fast time compared to driving in normal physics. whereas with nfsmw its tuning the car to be able to drift, not changing the laws of physics to compensate hence you can drive as fast as you want and still be able to drift if you feel like it.

Actually drifting in carbon may not be realistic enough...but it sure is fun.. :D

If u havent tried it and just seen videos..then lemme tell u something...
Ur gonna forget about drifting MW completely once u try Carbon :P

well thats the thing, i have tried it and it completely sucks =P and no im not going to forget about drifting in mw because i absolutely love it and i actually want to forget about carbon drifting alltogether, its that bad from my perspective. you just dont have a sense of controlling the car, the driver assists are doing it all for you. yes its sure as hell easy to get multiple drifts linked together to get a scores well over the hundreds-of-thousand points range for carbon-drifting but when every1 can do it as easily as picking a colour for your car, theres just no sense of skill involved. on second thoughts i think picking a colour scheme for your car is harder than drifting in nfs:carbon.

thats why i like canyon racing because its not that easy to be good at it, you need skill to win. having said that i hope they dont introduce sumfin like a cars-on-rails system in the future like in drag racing cause that'll just kill all the fun out of it.

guys, remember there isn't any drift mode in MW, so just open your eyes and see what this guy did, congrats mate!

Drift racing was so easy in underground 2, it's not very good in carbon.

MW drifting is the best

Post by h_zee13 »

Hey guys
i usually never post anything in this forum but i'm always here reading all the threads...i finally found a thread interesting enough for me to post...
for those who think carbon drifting is fun:
you guys dont really know how to really drift..so u play carbon cuz its auto-drift
in MW..its realistic...u actually have to know at what speed and what angle you have to drift and how much you have to turn your steering...so i think MW is better than carbon in drifting

oh and here is a video of me drifting with a supra

finally some people who agree with me! thanks danyutz and h_zee13! =)

btw h_zee13, that youtube video is UNFKNBLVBLE!!!!! >=D I LOVE IT!!!

ill admit ive been trying to do that for a VERY LONG TIME haha i havent tried it with the supra but i can only manage about 3/4 of that big roundabout with my evo8 before i have to let off the gas b4 i hit something lol. its a little weird coz when im in 2nd gear my drift circle is too small and when im in third its too big and its quite a challenge to control acceleration with a keyboard haha. I do have a logitech driving force pro wheel but havent really been able to use it too often, so i might try that when i finish my exams. and ill prob find some time to make a youtube drift video of my favourite driving route coz there are so many high-speed side-ways drifts along it =) again ill do that after my exams ared one haha

oh while im here, ill point out some interesting bits on the map to do some drifting:

-the highway over-pass like in my avatar.
-the 2 left (or right, depending which way your going) hander turns where the truck carriages are, near the bus depot and castrol workshop.
-the big open empty carpark =) near the uni campus.
-the shipyard at the bottom of the map.
-the 2 criss-crossing downhill (or uphill) routes near the... fishing bay? well its near a tollbooth and petrol station.

edit: 4got to mention that big-ass roundabout as well haha dumdum

cant think of any other specific locations atm but generally you can drift around the whole fukn map, i love it =)

@h_zee13, NOW thats what i call Drifting  .

I agree with guys 100%, that the Carbon Drift mode S  cks BIG time.

I'd prefer a tougher drift mode, the cars should Drift normally (while free roaming) as they do in Drift Mode.

The game's tooooo easy.
even My 12 year old cousin finished the game in 1 week.

Here's a video of GTR2 game, BMW M3 GTR drifting
(video length=5:38mins) @ You Tube

i dont want the same drift physics as in GTR2, but a similar one - which Demands Skill of the player.

i find that a good tip to get started with drifting in nfsmw is to be able to do the concentric-circle drift. it was from being able to do this that i realised MW had such good drifting potential.

<img src="http://forum.nfsunlimited.net/download.php?id=13407" width="400"><img src="http://forum.nfsunlimited.net/download.php?id=13408" width="400">

to be able to circle drift you have to have your car setup correctly (just use my evo8 setup on your on evo8 to begin with, its easier). then go to the parkling lot (like in the pics) and practice getting up to speed into the rev limit in 2nd gear. at this stage turn sharply and press the handbrake and down shift to initiate the drift and then keep on the accelerator. with any luck you'll be able to drift around in circles without touching anything else other than the accelerator. if not just keep experimenting with how long you have the handbrakes on etc and eventually you'll get the hang of it and be able to drift. after being able to do this you can start drifting around other parts of the map and also try other setups for other cars etc.

thanks for agreeing but argh i never want any form of drift mode/physics at all! =P unless of course its the ONLY driving physics in the whole game and that you can drive your car normally when you want to instead of it drifting every time you turn (a little bit of slip like in MW is fine).

Sorry, i forgot to say, NO need of separate DRIVING modes.

the cars should be able to Drift Normally, just as in the video @h_zee13 posted.

btw can you post (or PM) a screeny of BMW M3 GTR just as your Avatar (no hud)
