A quick google search reveals many benchmarks involving the card with most showing that it handily beats the 7900 GS (except for highly-overclocked versions), is about equal to the 7900 GT (although because of the very different graphic engines, it depends highly on the application), and loses almost every time to the 7950 GT.

I didn't see a single review where the HiS X1950 Pro beat a 7950 GT overall, so I'm not sure where you're getting your info from, but it seems to disagree with the dozens of other benchmarks on the web.

The X1950 Pro is a really easy card to recommend for $190, but at $240 (Newegg) for only a 40 MHz core/80 MHz memory clocks that the HiS IceQ Turbo offers over the other versions, it makes it a lot more difficult considering it's no longer competing with the 7900 GS at that price point and the X1950 XT is only $10 more and absolutely dominates it (along with everything else in that price range).

Pricing from Newegg.com:

X1950 Pro (580/1400) = $190
HiS X1950 Pro IceQ Turbo (620/1480) = $240
X1950 XT (625/1800) = $250
7900 GS (500/1380) = $176
7900 GS (525/1550) = $186
7900 GS (600/1600) = $210
7900 GT (470/1370) = $210
7900 GT (500/1530) = $263
7950 GT 256 MB (550/1400) = $216
7950 GT 256 MB (580/1560) = $250
7950 GT 512 MB (550/1400) = $245

7950 GT 512 MB (565/1430) = $260
7950 GT 512 MB (600/1450) = $280
7950 GT 512 MB (610/1600) = $300

Main competitors bolded

Also, I do own an X1950 Pro (Asus) ...

I just scored a Nvidia 7600 GT Factory overclocked for $80. Call me cheep but thats a good card, especialy for $80 bucks. If your looking for good cards for good prices, there are a few good sites you wanna check out, cus from showing stats and customer reviews even if its your first time buying one (like me) and you don't know what your doing (not like me) you can still be sure ur not gettin ripped off with one of the crap cards many companies use to make a quick buck.
Example:
nVIDIA GeForce FX5500 AGP (Not a bad card) $100
nVIDIA GeForce 7600GT OC PCI-e (awesome card) $80

So just look around and you can get allot more power for alot less bank!

PS: I'd list the sites but I'm not sure I'm allowed cuz technicly that would be advertising.

The FX5500 is a bad card and the 7600 GT is decent, but definitely not awesome ... Good pick up for $80, though ...

Well in the english alphabet S comes before T, so the GS might be a little worse than the GT. :D I got a 7900GS and people say you can overclock it to a GTX...

i found out that after trying to install my new card that my psu is not really up to the task with only 250 W :? . so i swapped it out with the 300 W in our newer computer and it still did not work the screen would flash yellow at startup then black. i think with the 300 W it says on it that the output for the power cables is 288 W which is below the minimum reqs of this card. so .............. i went to newegg and found a dynapower 500 W psu that i bought for 30 bucks , that oughta power it.

About your 7600, it's newer so it probably has more stuff like pipelines, etc... (I dont know much about cards) But the 6800 is mid-range while the 7600 is mid-high range.

I hope you didn't get some crap-ass brand, I got a $50 from there and it was DOA I didn't know that it was a chancy brand to go with. Cheaper is not always better when you choose a PSU.

Oops, I didn't see that you had the brand, "dynapower" sounds like a noname brand to me, the psu's from them look like the cheap ones that come with cases. You really don't want to get a crappy power supply, because on some occasions if the power supply goes it can sometimes take out other components with it. But if you really want to go cheap, then go ahead, you have been warned.

I have a 650W Antec TruePower Trio. It's reviews are mostly 5-stars... Antec doesn't suck in PSUs. Only the PSUs that come with their cases do. Buy one seperately and it's fine. Antec rules. (except when it comes to the PSUs in cases :D)

EDIT: Here's a linky. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6817371001

The Dynapower company sounds cheap for 500W... I looked at newegg and saw a 500W for $20... Maybe itll run for a year but then it could turn you down...
