Uh, the 7300 GS is a complete piece of crap ... and the 7300 GT isn't ...

7300 GS uses 4 pixel pipelines along with 64-bit memory and turbocache (all bad things)
7300 GT uses 8 pixel pipelines along with 128-bit memory (much better)

Although I would personally aim for a 7900 GS ...

But isn't the 7800GT better and around the same price as the 7900GS?

The 7900 GS is better, especially when you take into account overclocking potential ...

7800 GT:
Core - 400 MHz x 20 Pipelines x 7 Vertex Shaders
Memory - 1000 MHz x 256-bit

7900 GS:
Core - 450 MHz x 20 Pipelines x 7 Vertex Shaders
Memory - 1320 MHz x 256-bit

Most 7900 GSs I've used have been able to go to 550 MHz (or more) on the core with stock cooling and no voltage increases. The memory is usually good for at least 1500 MHz, as well.

I'm not gonna do any OCing on the count of that I don't know how to do it and don't wanna mess anything up so I'll see if the store has the 7900 and if they do i'll check the prices

whatever you do, dont get teh gx2, you could get an 8800gts for cheaper than that that would be much better.

I have an ATI Radeon X1900XTX, it runs carbon with every setting on high, framerate is 55 and up with an average of 66FPS, never drops below 45. So SKYLINE, that should give you an idea of how carbon will run on the next step up, the X1950.

It runs really well, Carcrazy. I have one with 512MB, 8x AGP. Unfortunately, it is a little bit bottle-necked because of my motherboard specifications. But I can run NFS Carbon with most settings turned up high in 800x600 without a hitch. NFS Most Wanted, on the other hand, looks better than it does on a Xbox 360... mainly because Carbon is newer with more graphical enhancements. GTR2 also runs really well with all settings turned up in 1024x768. I have to find some more optimal settings with Call of Duty 2, but from what I ran it at it ran really good with all settings turned up in 1024x768. Basically, if you got a better motherboard and CPU than I do, then you're good to go.

I read that and now I highly respect my 7900GS. :D

The 7600 is mine. The 1600Pro was for a friend for whom I'm building a computer.

Could someone recommend me a good TV Tuner card for under $100? I don't need some extremely high quality card, just something I can plug my cable in and record my tv shows and watch them..

Speaking of 8600's... would it be better to SLI two overclocked 7600GT's or just have one 8600?

probobly 1 86. I wan the new 8 cards to come out so i can decide if its worth getting a 88 or an 86.

EDIT

So if i do get the 8800gts, i have heard that you can overclock it to speeds higher than the gtx no problem, no heat issues or stability or anything, so what i want to know, is how exactly do you overclock it? is it in the bios or can you do it with like that nvidia program, ntune or something?

EDIT 2

So im finished with my new computer, all except the video card, but i dont want to wait like a month to save the rest of the money to get an 8 series, so do any of you know about that thing with eVga where you can upgrade to any card and just pay the difference? If so i want to get like a 7300gt or a 7600gt and use that till I have enough to go to a 8 series. Thanx again

Overclocking usually depends on the temps.. You can download a graphics card overclocking program like RivaTuner or ATITool.

You might get it to equal a GTX's performance, but they're still physically different. And here's the EVGA step up program:
