My comp im building (and is nearly finished, only missing video card) is going to have a total of 12 fans. I have them all in right now except for the video card and its still not that loud, guess i got good fans!

Just so you know, your airflow maybe perfect with 2 or 3 fans but when you got even 20 fans blowing and sucking air all over your case it may create a huge air pockets where heat will absorbe. Just silly to put fans in every hole and think it will help.

Hence, one case from Thermaltake got 2 case fans and each on 2600rpm max speed, they create a case airflow better then any other. If you get to move all your cables to safe side this will improve airflow even more. Id say max amount of fans on case should be: 1 top exhaust, 1 rear + 1 rear PSU exhausts, 1 front intake, 1 side intake. Thats would be max you need unless you do a hardcore memory overclocking so you need to mod your PC with smallish coolers above your memory sticks.

Having more casefans spread out over your case interior will cause turbulence on the surfaces you want to cool, which is good.. Just keep the front as intake and the rear as outtake.

nope mate, turbulence is the enemy of any good airflow. since its like a small typhoon, inside it the air barely moves, and heat builds up on some of the part even more. a PC with 20 fans can overheat easily if they are disturbing each other.

A straight front to back airflow isn't going to give you the best temps.. After all, we're talking about heat transfer here.

You know that's nonsense. :)

you fools, i was just stating that i just have a lot of fans, 2x 80mm front, 1x80mm in back, 1x cpu fan. 1x video card, 2x hard drive cooler, 2x psu, and 2x system blower.

Though mentioning fans from stock coolers is completely useless. :)

Yeah, but they still matter and add to noise and need to be considered when getting the best airflow.

All i Have Is two front intakes, one rear exhaust and one side exhaust.
Plus I just bought a thermometer with a HUGE LCD on it and will soon buy another fan controler to go with it to fill up my other extra slot on my PC. It's gonna look HOT!

Check it out!
Here's the one I'm gonna buy next week to go with it...

well, search for some aircooling articles. If you can design your airflow to go from front to the back and from side to the top that will make cold air come in while same time as hot one gets out. Maybe even make more exhaust fans like 2 intakes 3 exhaust to created low air pressure inside the case so cold air will come even faster. Point is, whats better, a steam of cold air right onto your mobo chipset or a fan that just took hot air from your CPU and another fan sent it right back to chipset. Moreover 12 fans without dustfilters will make your PC sound like a jetplane in about 6 month, not to mention mess inside the case.

Just get a normal case with 3-5 fans and dustfilters. Will perform 10x better then regular case with lotsa no-brand fans.

Your point of having the fans placed that way is correct, they shouldn't be placed at random places in random directions.

However, that doesn't mean turbulence is bad. You can have the front fan blow air in, have a side fan to create turbulence on your hardware, and the exhaust fan to draw the air out. When I still had my Stacker 830, I used 2 front intakes, 4 side intakes to blow directly into the motherboard and graphics card and 3 outtakes. (including PSU)

Well, the only thing a fan does is move air around. All you need is a proper dB/CFM ratio.

Most mobo's now-a-days let you increase voltage via the bios for the cpu. Wish it was the same for vid cards as well.
