That's cos it's a photoshopped Cayman.korge wrote:Nice car, but those photos look weird, almost like a photoshop chop...
American car, V8 and Huge powerband is a contradiction, I doubt it will exceed 6000RPM. I'm assuming you meant 1000lb ft, rather than 100.darknight788 wrote:the 8L is for torque it has almost 100 ft lbs. more than the z06, the powerband for this thing is going to be huge. we'll see what gets done to the suspension but it is starting to sound like it is going to have a nice suspension and good handling
It's STILL ugly as sin, STILL doesn't handle, and STILL weighs as much as a small house. Gimme 4 M5's anyday.

no.. i meant it almost has 100 ft lbs more torque than the z06
z06 - 470 ft lbs viper - 560 ft lbs
torque is what moves you and this viper is going to have a lot of movement. throw in the rumored competition suspension like the one used in the 24 hr lemans and it will be awesome. also its not a v8 ......... its a v10
and why does something that is over 500 cubic inches need to go over 6000 rpm ? thats extremely fast for something that size. weighs as much as a small house ? the 06 convertible weighed 200 pounds more than the z06
i think alot of european cars are ugly as hell also... how would you know that it doesnt handle ? by playing video games ? i have driven one in real life and they handle pretty damn good. i bet a stock viper would beat a stock m5 anyday

I'm not going back onto the whole torque debate. Put it this way. Cars only need enormous ammounts of torque if they have alot of weight to shift. Look at F1 cars- high HP, low torque.darknight788 wrote:no.. i meant it almost has 100 ft lbs more torque than the z06

Corvette Z06's weigh alot as standard.
Rev's are good, they give you a wider power distribution and make the car seem less lazy and more controlable.
Competition suspention = car completely useless on the road. V2 coilovers on the M3 make it hard enough to drive, so I don't want to think what le mans suspention would be like.
The viper looks exactly the same as every viper before. Plus it makes a very ungainly chop top.
I've never driven a viper, but I had no trouble dispatching one on the last track day I went on. I'd imagine they'd handle much the same as an E-type Jag- huge engine in the front, no weight over the rear axels, too much torque= very skittish car that instantly goes from understeer to oversteer on the limit, spins alot and is hard to keep under control, spins tyres at the tiniest blip of the throttle (may look cool but slows you down like hell) and that enormously heavy engine in the nose is going to make braking a nightmare too.
This Vip is running against the 911 Turbo in speed and power stakes. It may be faster 0-60, but the TT 3.6 is liable to be much faster up to 120, 150+ and goes on to a higher top speed. It looks better, is better built, more controlable and doubtlessly faster around a track. Also an easier car to live with in the real world, as unlike the viper, it isn't enormously heavy, slugish and hard to control around town, impossible to park, difficult to see out of, noisy, uneconomical, ungainly and gargantuan.
Gimme a 911 Turbo or GT3 anyday. I don't care about 1/4ml figures, or 0-60. The moment you hit a corner the Porsche would run away, and be uncatchable.

just so you know the viper has benchmark braking. 60-0 is in under 100 ft. it doesnt need the enormous amount of torque it just has it they actually need some weight to keep the thing under control. the whole speed thing against the 911 TT 150 mph + is a whole nother story but it will be interesting. i have no doubt the 911 would take the viper on a track with lots of turns
BTW - cool video nvm the title there is no viper http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vt22cIPYuMk

i think the ford looks really ugly and weird. it is "supposably" suppose to be just like the chrysler 300c.

Actually they are road legal.darknight788 wrote:it also weighs as much as a feather which allows for better felxibility in gearing, but it is also not road legal and if you get in a accident with a geo metro you will become one with the car
Plus they are made out of reinforced aluminium poles, much the same was as rollcaged are. They're probably rather hard to break.
