I hope EA to consider making a european version of NFS. Messing in narrow streets of old european cities with traditional building and then changing to modern high tech autobahns (highways) with police chases as far as countries' borders. I believe it would be certainly something different with very good results if its done properly
id like to see the burnout style in nfs where you can go to europe, america, and asia. except there is different cities that you can go to connected by freeways that you can go to each of them in, and each city is based on different countries.Vauxhall_Calibra wrote:I hope EA to consider making a european version of NFS. Do you remember "Drive 2" from PSone? I liked this kind of story, where the first part of the game was at america (i can't remember the city but i think it was miami) and then according with the storyline you had to catch a boat to cuba where you had to drive the old cars etc..) I would like to see sth similar on NFS with a realistic storyline that takes you somewhere else from USA (i don't really like the menu options where you can insantly transfer from USA to europe to Asia) I would like to see for example a story that you make your first race in the original american city and then something goes terribly wrong and you have to go to the airport (could be driving while chased by police or enemy racers) to go to a "friend" that lives in europe and then you start your career from there. I would also like to see the driver to come out of the car and for example when entering the garage and then walk to the car you want to drive (I'm not suggesting the GTA style where you can steal cars, kill people etc.. ) It could be more realistic and stick to the NFS style (after all in reallity most parked cars tend to be locked)Fishwhiz wrote:id like to see the burnout style in nfs where you can go to europe, america, and asia. except there is different cities that you can go to connected by freeways that you can go to each of them in, and each city is based on different countries.Vauxhall_Calibra wrote:I hope EA to consider making a european version of NFS. I would also like to see more traffic, parked vehicles, people on the streets, motorcycle police, flat train crossings

I know its not the typical "european" city you would expect to see such us northern italy, germany, france, UK but Athens is a city with lots of illegal street racing! plus if any of you has been there you would probably know that the drivers there (especially taxi and bus drivers) are lunatics!!!!! In fact the most famous spot for street races is a road nicknamed as "Limanakia" which is pretty similar to the canyon races! try google this for pictures and you can also see lots of videos from youtube!
Now I'm thinking how cool would that be to include this place! Also the traffic light should be functional and used as a starting point for races when they turn green!
I suppose this is just dreaming...but do you actually think there is the possibility any of the NFS makers to actually read these forums and consider any of our ideas?
here is a picture of this road!

Well, I really agree with you on parked vehicles, absense of them is stupid. But I see why there's no pedestrians. Issues about being able to run them down. But there should at least be cheering bystanders at the start and end of some races. And if there's any "walkways" that you can't drive onto, let them have time-of-day appropriate pedestrians. Maybe that's also why there aren't motorcycle cops. But maybe they could still be used, and set up such that catching up with them is impossible, they're mainly "scouts", they'll sic the cars on you. I agree with you about the rails, read my three "Overdrive" posts, there's a couple of towns that have streetcars, and one even has some "street-running" track. (go to http://www.lundsten.dk/railfan_pa/exmga/pa12-23.jpg to see what I mean by that).Vauxhall_Calibra wrote:

And one of those twons is intended to be "European style" even if it isn't European, I mean insofar as it has narrow winding roads and all that.
PS Part 4 of Overdrive may come soon.....
With being able to see your racer, my idea is in the career you'd have a choice of several racers, you'd actually see them in the scenes, one would be the "Racer with No Name" from MW and Carbon (and you do see what he looks like in Carbon if you get caught by the cops). But I'm not sure if you need to show the driver "walking to the car" to chose it.

I thought of the driver "walking" to the car because as it would be a PS3 generation game I would be very dissapointed if it won't include a detailed interior of the cars. I would like to see a real dashboard with clocks, dials, air ventilation, heater control panel..etc like the gran turismo HD screenshots. After all half of the cosmetic mods are being done in the interior of the car! It would also be nice if from the rear view mirror you could actually see the rear windscreen's view instead of a clear camera.
As for the tuneability i believe it is time for EA to consider to free it up, so you can actually make an engine swap, welding, choose each parts such as turbos, intercoolers, pistons etc.. I mean in real life i've seen a VW beetle with a porsche engine on it! so why it can't be done on the game? That would also lead to trully unique cars and the only limit on mods would be the money you want to spend. It would also be nice to consider of markets with used cars/parts, auctions, private garages etc. The car should take engine damage which you would have to repair it later. also what it would be trully radical is for the cars to have a real mileage and parts of the engine to take normal wear from mileage!
oh..and one more thing. Why not use some of the "stock" cars for traffic? Traffic doesnt have to be anonymous, ugly, low graphics vehicles

As with the stock cars for traffic, I don't understand why they can't do that. The taxi is quite similar to a Lexus IS300, but instead they downgrade the graphics and make it a really ugly N64 graphics car. And why couldn't they get a permit from Ford to use the Crown Victoria Cruisers instead of these no name brand ones... Again they are similar in design but EA decided to downgrade the graphics and unbadge it.

yes!! and what would be more realistic is that if you hit or passing by a parked car very loud (eg racing) the alarm should come on, on some of them at least. They should also take damage such as smashed windows etc...Raakone wrote:I agree about the traffic. There should be more detail and variety in it. And once again, parked cars. Can you believe how empty some of the garages are in NFS Carbon? It makes no sense.

In Carbon and Most Wanted, smashed windows is the only damage any car gets that isn't a police cruiser. I want some real damage models, not just on the police. If EA is going to make a street racing game, they should emphasize the dangers of it which includes smashing into other vehicles/objects and if the objects and vehicles are low-graphic with no damage models, it's not really a street racing game but instead a game where you race cars in an unrealistic urban environment.

I think vehicle damages has to do with licensing. i believe as they use real brands for the career cars they need a special licence to deform (crash) the original form of the car. It the same thing with gran turismo. yet i wouldnt really like to see any invincible bars, lamp posts, buildings, structures.. etc. Even a concrete wall and a heavy truck takes damage when a car hits it with 120mph!!! All road barriers should be (at least at some point) destructable and even the ground. You should be able to create crates, deform the land, throw dirt and stones on the road
need for speed, my friend, has never, ever been realistic. at least since underground.Porsche-AG wrote:In Carbon and Most Wanted, smashed windows is the only damage any car gets that isn't a police cruiser. Well, maybe its time to consider creating a more realistic environment but they will need to change the style. I cant see why it can't be done. GTA moved from 2d ugly graphics of GTA2 to a complete realistic 3d environment of the GTAIII and thereafter they followed the same style, only with improved graphics and look at the success they have
In my opinion NFS should have a free world like GTA but focusing on car modding, illegal races and car chasing

I mean it in a way where you can actually walk to the city, enter certain buildings, interact with people. Driving all the time could become boring. Also for the roads, including rural areas will spice things a bit up. For example you may have a drag race in a rural road (maybe partially gravel) and for obstacles you get tractors and farming vehicles. Plus the meeting point with other drivers could be for example the local pub at a village right outside the city
Interaction plays a major role not to become bored to the game. For example browser type options to upgrade the car ARE BORING. how nice would it be to enter a garage, watch the car to be lifted and engineers working on the car? well it doesnt have to be real time work but you could see at least parts like removing the tyres and fitting new, some engine parts to be unscrewed and screw others, exhaust to be replaced, fitting a new spoiler etc.. Wasting gaming time like this and endless improvement may result people spend weeks if not months to the game. if there is the option to run 100races and finish the game, someone may do it overnight (or 2 days) finish the game and then never touch it again. Also I belive it would be better to have 20-30 big races which they would be a great event and you would have to properly prepare for them, rather than having 100 boring races which they just repeat the same course. i also HATE technical courses. It is supposed to be an underground game, not an official racing. For example for drift races they can use either the canyon type or a big car park area

Driving could get boring? Why get a racing game if you think that driving could get boring? And I guess part of the reason is because EA makes 80% of the game extremely easy and the other 20% just plain stupid when we get to start with Tier 2 while everyone has Tier 3. But this interaction might ruin the main point of the game (racing) even more than EA has done already. Since they've already given themselves the short time of 1 year to make each installment of the series, they have a limited amount of time to work on things, and as a result should cause them to focus on what the game is really about. The interactive ideas are great, but I don't think EA will be able to pull that off, along with their stupid dramatization AND the main idea of racing within 1 year.Vauxhall_Calibra wrote:I mean it in a way where you can actually walk to the city, enter certain buildings, interact with people. And I think that Vauxhall means the races that are closed by racing walls that you can't get to by cruising the city by Technical Races. Personally, I like them, as long as there is more variety and a more tournament style career mode comes with them.

Yes, by saying "technical courses" i mean the closed circuits that they use for drift at carbon. As this type of racing is mostly for demonstration and technique wouldnt be better to use car parks for example which is closer to reality and how real illegal races work? Of course I love driving and of course its a racing game and should focus on that, but the thing is that some times it repeats itself and it becomes boring. Those interactions could be limited and more cinematic so that the game wont loose its racing style. For example you get out of the car only at garages or following the storyline to enter a building for example to meet people according to the story. Im not suggesting wondering around the city by foot like GTA.
What do you think about the idea to include rural roads and maybe gravel? That would certainly be sth different and i believe it could work well
