Well, I really like the idea of rural roads, in my idea for the next NFS (I know, it may as well be a pipedream) besides Interstate style highways there are various other backroads to link towns and cities (some of which are easier to come by than others, and some of which are better maintained). You have standard asphalt. You also have cobblestones on some roads (mostly pedestrianized areas) and you have bad condition roads, unsealed roads, gravel roads, dirt roads (that become mud if it's raining), and those metal bridges (where there isn't a "deck" but you're rolling directly on metal. It's noisy). And some of the races require you to be on these roads. And maybe a few "closed circuits" are ok, but notice that none of the Drifts in NFS were on the streets, other than "quick races"? And in part 2 (I think) of my Overdrive, I mention a shopping mall with a strangely shaped parking lot, just PERFECT for drifting, and then one of my cities has a multi-level garage (think Tokyo Drift here)
What do you think?

ok! so what we've got so far?
*Better graphics for traffic, bigger variety of vehicles and use of some of the stock cars
*Parked cars
*Interior of the car with a full dashboard view
*Rural roads with various road surfaces (gravel, asphalt, bad quality asphalt, dirt etc..) and towns
*Possible interactions with people and driver gets out of the car and maybe enter certain buildings?
*Car parks for drift races ! please DO KEEP canyon drift as it was one of the best ideas!!!
*24hr enviroment day/night with various weather conditions
*more destructuble objects and terrains
*motorcycle cops
*More cops with "elite" units and named cops swore to hunt you down and protect their areas from illegal racing, also more cops with undercover racing cars waiting to be challenged to a race or entering races just to spoil the fun by calling back-ups
*Working traffic lights to be used as a starting point for races
*better and longer storyline
*more options for tuning (e.g. engine swaps) and cinematic scenes (e.g. watch the car being lifted in a garage and mechanics working on it)
*Car consumes fuel and has to be refueled from gas stations
*Different counties/countries each with their own characteristics: hilly with canyon roads, seaview with beaches, long plains with rural roads and fields (main areas should be: Urban, Industrial, Rural, Exotic/touristic)
*Speed cameras should be visible on the streets and you may have the stationary and the mobile ones wich could be either the hangun type, or the tripod next to a parked police car
*Options to buy and upgrade:
-CD/mp3 player (where you can either listen to radio stations, EA tracks or LOAD your own tracks!!!! Since PS3 has a hard drive I think it wont be a problem)
-GPS unit (where you can either see an arrow or a detailed map with suggested routes)
-Police radio receiver/detector (where you can hear police conversations, Let you know if you're near a speed camera or police vehicle, or see a detailed map of where they are)
am i missing something?
**oh for interior view is mandatory for the driver to be able to turn his head right and left to look from the door's windows (possibly using R2 + L2)
who's gonna send an email to EA now?

i agree with more variety of traffic. and each kind of traffic car that is something you cannot drive without hex editing and a pc, should have more than 1 color. like that blue sedan that keeps popping up, and that red minivan, etc. and i also agree that some of the stock cars should be traffic cars.

Need For Speed: Overdrive....Part 4 (parts 1 - 3 are scattered throughout page 10)
Ok, after some delay, here's some more....
We've done the career-mode racers. Now there's other counties you can't start in. Sorry, I just have one county for this post.....
Cordillera County
Brownville: Most of Cordillera County is hilly, but there's this flat enclave in the south, where two major shopping developments with redundant parking behind them give some excellent drifting grounds, and the Racing Frankensteins frequently put them to use. There's also many back roads and service roads where "paveing" is optional, and many of the "Shortcuts" are sandy. Maria's is a popular hang-out spot. And Maria's nieces Consuela and Miranda are rumored to be into racing....Another note. There's a couple of places here with "permanent spikes" that damage the tires when going the wrong way. If you're in a pursuit, LOOK OUT!
Ground to Sky Highway: It's nice and straight and flat around Brownville. But at times it gets curvey and even splits into two as you go further north. Then it gets really fun as you head uphill. There's also an offshoot road to...
Emerald Giants National Park: tree covered hills, emerald giants, get it? Lots of twisty roads. You also get to cross rivers and a narrow lake, and go on twisty canyon roads. There's also a local phenomenon, nicknamed "The Spirits", where localized fog builds up, especially at night, in some areas (there are "spirit" warning signs on the side of the road). They advise being real careful when The Spirits come....so it's natural that there are those who insist on doing RACES, at night, and with Spirits in effect. Jake and his Sidewinders, Leroy and his Cordillera Boyz, Joshua's Puzzles led by Joshua, and Full Rubber Jacket led by "Da Man" are in a multi-sided struggle. How will they take to an outsider? Near one of the park exits there's a general store, there's also a few "grandfathered" houses, and someone who wants to see a REAL racer is waiting at one of them....we think. There's also lots of backroads and shortcuts with low overhanging branches.
Robertson: A town high in the hills. A maze of streets, some of them narrow and one-way, and many curves, are the result of being built on this mountain. The Haloes are the main name. There's also the most insane "canyon" road nearby.
Sheila: It's the name of a village, the road to get there is poorly marked on most maps, it's also got some colorful residents.
The Cops: Cordillera County has no shortage of these. Brownville has Crown Victorias, while Robertson's 5-0 prefer Mustangs. The Sheriff (who also acts as town police for Sheila) uses Chargers. They also use experimental drones, sometimes nicknamed "beanies" because of their shape, it has an oversized rotor to stay aloft, and has attached camera and searchlight. Among the cops, somewhere, is Goerge Dayye, who drives a heavily modified, feature enhanced Firebird known as the Roving Interdiction and Detection Enforcer, or R.I.D.E. R.I.D.E can also deploy a pair of Beanies to help hunt you down, or even use oil-slick if necessary, and Dayye enjoys taking his perps head on, so be careful. Emerald Giants is a federal park. The main force there are the park rangers, but most of the time they're doing more important stuff like keeping bears out of people's picnic baskets, and keeping out poachers. But once you cause a stir, things will get ugly. They have a few Corvettes similar to the ones used by the Feds, but they also have a wide variety of offroad (and even a few amphibious) patrol vehicles. They also have choppers, normally used for search-and-rescue.
So what did you think of this "elite" county? It won't be the only one. Not sure how many "counties" will be available. But within each county, are many races and challenges.
I'll have more later.

You 've got some really good ideas mate!
i'm not really sure about the high tech drones as it might be a little too fantasy, i would prefer an elite motorcycle cop squad (called the ninjas) that would hunt you down and would be difficult to loose them, also more undercover cars pretending to be racers and then flashing their hidden police lights and calling for back-ups. I think you've got a good story there.I like the names you have given! lol! reminds me a bit of mexican tv serial!!! Maybe include "redneck races" on villages with long plains and cornfields** where they use old but wildely modified cars and offroad pick up trucks. Have you thought to include a "mafia" type influence to your enemy drivers where they using them to protect their interests (for example cover for illegal shipments, cars/parts imports, political control, illegal bids from races, drugs etc..)
I like the switch of different places you mentioned,
but have you tried to actually contact EA? and do you think thay may consider any of these? I only made a list of what should be added/changed on the game. Do you want to add sth else on the list?
I also liked your ideas of choosing different characters with different stories!! Have you watched the film "sin city" ? It could be sth like that with different stories but similar ending, and some characters meet at some point

Vauxhal_calibra: can you add to your list. Solid racing! the NFS games that last the longest and have the lastability are not the underground games. I think most of the users would agree that they still go back to games like PU and HP2 but wouldnt touch U1 or U2 again. You race to complete the story, not for the fun of racing which is what NFS should be about. Sure, Most Wanted was fun with the cops back, made the game last a bit longer, but Carbon has added nothing to series except auto sculpt which is poor and another rehashed boring story line. Having to fill up your car etc would get boring within about 30mins. Repetative cut seens of wacthing my car getting raised would also bore the hell out of me. It was bad enough wathcing my car drive into the various part venders in U2.
Just some of the old fun tracks is all I ask. The only track that i can actually remember from U1 / U2 / MW and carbon is Marathon in U2 but i can remember so many more fun races with friends on the older games. Hot pursuit 1/2 or high stakes with todays graffics and a few more mods would be fun to see.

Calibra, That sounds interesting. That some of the rival crews (and possibly "lone wolves") have shady connections, that they do much more than just street racing. Perhaps that even makes some things complicated, because....by racing with them, you're increasing the heat on you that much more quickly (like the cops will believe that you were "just racing" them?) And maybe some racers will even "cheat" in what way cheating is possible...smoke screens or something like that....because someone is betting loads of big money.
I've never seen Sin City. Anyways, the stories of the different characters are different, and yes, maybe they should meet, and even get chances to race each other at points. Also, certain races and events and secrets will be character specific.

Gossard don't you believe that you can combibe solid racing with a good storyline? I believe a game in order to beat boredom it needs:
*First not to repeat itself
*Keep you busy upgrading your car/s
*Not to be easy to reach maximum tunability
*storyline to be long yet interesting and unpredictable, so that you always want to know what will happen next
It is almost certain though that any game that has a story you get bored when you finish it, but for example Gran Turismo that has no story it was the game that i most quickly got bored. I just foung it boring, stupid and pointless after a few weeks, when you only get to race at circuits doing endless laps.
I want a game that shows you sth new all the time. For example I ended bore (and partially hated Gran turismo 3) but I loved San Adreas where it had different cities and things to do.
I believe you're right about the "raising car" scene but I suppose they can make several scenes of them instead of just one repeating and they SHOULD give you the option to skip it. Of course if this raises the load times then its out of the question.
Of course noone has the same taste so I believe a game to be successful has to cover all tastes. For example if you like solid driving, give you the option to skip all videos and give you the option to make extra money and rep by challenging any driver from free roam and place a bid and choose the race type you like. This could also work very good on internet gaming where people could meet in the city and challenge each other to races
The usually meeting point with other racers should be red traffic lights and areas with bars, garages and car parks

I suppose yes, but i doubt EA will bother to make such a complicated storyline. it could be more simple, for example mafia controls street races mainly to keep the cops busy chasing racers while they do other things, plus they're making money out of the bids and the parts they sell to tuners that they import illegally. Corrupted police officers will help them but a "hero cop who is investigates this will "save your a**" at a critical point of the story in order for you to make it to race with the high ranks hired from mafia racers to uncover the truth.
Sin city is 5-6 storied that happen simultanuesly in the same city each with different ending and with different characters, which some of them meet at certain places to prove that all the stories happen at the same time

Now that would be too much Grand theft auto wouldnt be? lol with spikes and oil sleeks to sabotage other racersPorsche-AG wrote:Yeah, it's as if there's already a bomb planted in the middle of the gas station, and all you have to do is 'activate' it. This brings up another idea - planting bombs before races in certain areas that you can use later to knock down the cops or opponents.

Well, an idea I have, is that for the MMO mode, since the "time breaker" would be impracticle with so many people involved, instead you have "abilities" you chose from before the race, for helping yourself, helping your team-mates (as in "YOU can be the wingman/woman"), or hindering the others. The further along you get, the better abilities you can chose. They'd include a "draft" (to be like a drafter) and maybe some kind of power-ram or something to suddenly ram someone (like a blocker), then you'd have OVERDRIVE (can only be activated at reasonably high speeds, NOT the same as NOS), and oil slick, smoke screens, or maybe even mines. Or maybe a "directed magnet" (as in "make the car in front of you help you along whether or not the driver wants to) What do you think? That will add a new dimension (although some races will prohibit these special abilities for certain reasons)
Maybe they won't be available in career mode, or should they?

How about to have radio stations with commendary like GTA? You could also be able to buy a different cd unit for you car (mp3 for example) and you can choose wether you like to listen to radio or listen to your tracks. Since PS3 has a hard drive you might also be able to load your own tracks! You should also be able to see the driver change stations/tracks on the cd player!!
You might also have the option to buy a police radio receiver to hear police conversations and the option to upgrade your GPS unit with one that actually shows the map on the screen and suggest you routes
Also speed cameras should be visible and you can have the stationery and mobile spots with police handguns or tripods type!!!

Need For Speed: Overdrive
Part 5
Grove County
Los Diablos: It's a city, but maybe not the biggest of them. Still, it has hills, including a canyon-like street, and it also has streetcars. "Glitztown" at the east end is full of nightclubs, hotels, and roads with sharp turns. The Gyro Boys and the Mouse Pack will gladly challenge all newcomers. Also, Suki, once a big racer in Japan, has set herself up here. Find her, and prove yourself to her. There's also a back alley that has Al's Garage. It's rumored that he got his hands on some pretty sweet parts.
Route 99: Cute through Los Diablos and runs quite a ways. There's a service center with a restaurant and bar attached. You may want to go there.
The Groves: Orange you a fan of country racing? Lots of roads, and chances to go off-road. The village of Tabitha Town is somewhere here. So are the Motorized Oranges, who like to race real horrorshow. Also, there is...
Saraton: Another town with a girl's name. It also borders the Bride Lake military base. BE FOREWARNED: while there's no way to get into the base, being close enough will make your GPS useless. There's even warning signs that "GPS units may be jammed." Unless you really love your challenges, this isn't a good place to be during a pursuit.
The Big Orange Mall: A really large shopping center, with buildings joined by skyways, and a maze of garages and parking. Seems like an ideal place for races, eh? And someone at the Spinning Wrench may have something for you....And doodle-Of-The-Ride (AKA "The Rooster Boys") call this their turf.
The Cops: the LDPD uses Crown Victorias, Impalas, Camaros, and Rhinos. The Grove County Sheriff uses similar vehicles, but they also have Jeeps and special "chaser" cars that can handle worse roads better. Of course, route 99 is under the jurisdiction of our friends the Highway Patrol. Big Orange Mall has its own police force in their distinct orange chargers. Around Saraton, there's also a special military police unit who uses a mixture of Rhinos and Corvettes if they are ticked off (and remember, around their turf the GPS may go on the fritz!) Also, there's a couple of federal agents, Miller and Sally, who have a tricked out Corvette. They may drop "Hedgehog" spike-clusters if they're ahead of you. They also have some of the abilities of other Top Cops, so be afraid. The Cops are out there!
Chinchilla County
WARNING: Upon entering this county for the first time, cops will spring upon you. And this will always include two top cops, generally Miller and Sally, as well as whatever cop hates your character the most (if it's the Driver With No Name, then CROSS returns!), in refurbished upgraded autos.
Valencia: A maze of canals and windy roads, as well as a few streetcar routes and a "busway." The Cruise, led by The Hammer, is the big name in this town. Also somewhere is Lucille, she's a little old lady....from Pasadena!
Spiral Mountain: Lots of canyon racing to be done here! The hamlet of Tyson may have something secret within its limits. Also, while abhorred by conservationists, there have been plans to build a road through a natural cave, and the flattening has already been done. There's fences up due to a legal dispute, but have a few flimsy fences ever stopped you?
Ironton: Mostly factories, and a bunch of windy service roads. Sally's Slashas are hard to beat, you up to it?
Chinchilla Flats: Wasteland. Good for going off-road.
The Chincilla's Ring: It's a ring....road, that is.
Chinchilopolis: A city built on a mountain. Has all kinds of racing, areas, and surprises. The Eight-Headed Combine (what a name for a group) rules here, and what's more, they've taken some of the baddest leaders of other crews under their wings (just who depends on who you're playing as, and a few other factors). They also have several inter-county "Grand Races" that you can take part in, while there were grand races before, they were always within the county, these ones are different. Can you handle it? There's also the so called "Radio City" section of town where GPS is jammed, and there are a few parts that use those special posts that come up during pursuits. And yes, there are streetcars here as well. All of the nastiest stuff you had to deal with before, is in one place for your (in)convenience.
The Cops: Chinchila County's Sheriff uses Corvettes, and lots of them, as well as Rhinos. Be aware that by the time you've gotten here, the MINIMUM heat level will be raised, and, forces from all counties and municipalities have been given SPECIAL AUTHORIZATION to cross city and county lines AT WILL. Also, ALL of the TOP COPS are back, as well as Miranda "Chinchilla Queen" Gomez, who drives in a really powerful customized....we're not sure WHAT kind of car that is, but it's nasty. And yes, there are regular patrols with HELICOPTER and AIRPLANE in the area. This place is NOT for the faint of heart.

This place is NOT for the faint of heart.

yes..sorry its not only PS3 but basically all new consoled (and the pc obviously) that have their own memory as a source to load songs from while the game is using the dvd/blu ray player to play. I actually got this idea from an experiment I made with my ps one! I had jammed the cd door to work even when the door was open and I was playing command and conquer! The game was already loaded and it was only playing the soundtrack when i swapped the cd with a standar audio one and the magic happened!! It loaded a random track from the audio cd and started to play it while the game was normally continue to play!!! LOLPorsche-AG wrote:@ Vauxhall: The Nintendo Wii also has capabilities to hold music, and the PC is obviously another contender for custom music, so I think the "choose your own tracks" idea would work quite well, especially with the next generation game consoles.

There 'ought to be a Survival mode for pursuits in the next game. For those of you familiar with the Driver series, you'll know that the police AI is brutal, and there is a s*@#storm of them to fight off.
