Well, "Distinctive Software", who helped develop Test Drive 2: The Duel, as well as "Stunts", developed NFS I, but before it was completed, Distinctive was absorbed by EA, and became....EA Canada.

i just hope they really dont mess this game up i hope they stay true to the old path or realize that making a huge name for urself is not the big deal all i wana do is have a ton of cars that i can race down a nice mixed track/area and dont have to worry about a c class betting my a class (referring to NFS3/4)

In NFS 3 and 4 the AI was based basicly on laptimes. the faster cars simply did faster laptimes.

After alot of time playing NFS 4 I tried to see what laptimes I could set against better cars while I kept racing with the Mercedes SLK 230 Kompressor.
It took some time but I kept on improving my times and managed to beat the cars till reached the faster AA class cars, I did manage to beat the M5 and 550 Maranello, but I met my match against the Diablo SV and the F50. and ofcourse the McLaren F1 and CLK GTR where well out of reach.

It's fun and pretty challenging to do,

Just pick a track you like and start against a SLK or a Z3 (the Z3 is in general the faster car, but the SLK handles best IMO)

then go against the Firebird and Corvette and Jaguar and go on up on the ladder till you find your match wich, once you select cars like the M5 and the 911 turbo etc. you fill find that you have to race a clean race to beat them. trying to push them of the road is also a good way to making sure you win

Returning to what I believe is the original topic, my wishlist, possibly forgetting some;

-DRAG RACES. And none of those irritating ones with the turns in Underground 2, either; the straight, flat roads from the original Underground were much funner.

-Returning the Rx-7 to it's glory. They really made it look bad in Carbon... Tier two...

-More cars! Gotta say, that was a pretty short list of rides.

-The return of Underground 2's GTA like exploration of a city that's actually realistic, including outrun races. They pretty much cut the detail of the city your driving in after NFS U2, particularly in Carbon.

-More mods for the car. They also cut that short in the latest game.

-The ability to get the pinkslip of the final boss... I would have liked using Darius' car...

-And, the grand finale, as above, the speciific stores in the city. I enjoyed having to drive to the performance store to purchase N2o, and having to go to the car specialties shop to install neon in Underground 2... It was strangely fun...

Man, have you played MW?
Have you driven the almost extensive GOLF club in Rosewood, or near Camdem Point the abandonded docks?
In MW the city grew a LOT compared to U2. U2 only had roads and few small open places...but MW...another story

Yup, a drag race would be cool. Pedal-pounding, gear-shifting fun.

Amene to that, amene, amene, AMENE! More autos is always good, and try even harder to distinguish them.

Those are some really good ideas. How was U2's exploration beter than Carbon, if I may ask? But one thing....instead of one place, why not have multiple cities, and connecting highways and backroads? Yes, more mods could be used. And I like the multiple stores approach, that there isn't a "one stop shop" for everything, no matter what you've "unlocked." Some of the better parts might be sold at stores that are really out of the way, and you'll have to find them the first time. Some other parts may even be the reward for special challenges. And maybe there can be bars and cafes where you can talk to others, find out about rumors, secrets, even hints about certain places to race.

i agree with all that but i liked the huge jumps in underground. i mean like in that drag race called "commercial" there were all these jumps and it made it real fun. as long as they are straight, then yes, bring it back, please, EA!

More jumps, eh? Sounds rather cool. And maybe somewhere there should even be places that are only "accessable" if you can clear a jump at speed. Think MW finale.

Carbon just seemed to have highways, and very little access to buildings and suchlike. And the many cities idea is really good..... trouble is, it would take a lot of time developing it all... The cafe idea is very interesting, too. Y'know, just stop somewhere, and casually come across some valuable racing info. But this would lead to an even larger concept... The having to create your own character, or at least having one with a distinct appearance! Cheers!

there were 2 jumps like that in underground, play it and you'd see what i mean. i want more jumps like that.
id like also a map like that of most wanted except bigger. carbons map was utterly horrible and easy to get lost in. i have memorized all of the free roam tracks from most wanted and underground, but there isn't any landmarks or easy to see signs in carbon cities. and in most wanted, there were more off road places like the "university" in rosewood and the golf course.

I agree with Fishwhiz, MW had distinct areas that were easily distinguishable from each other. I think part of the problem of Carbon is that everything is dark, so all you see is lights. And EA was also trying to split the Carbon city up into 4 sections for each major crew, so many of the roads didn't seem realistic and were pretty much split up by an otherwise unused highway. The highway in MW was used majorly, and was a great place to have a cop chase, but the night-time thing really takes the action away from highway pursuits.

well, how would you race in between? id like changes throughout the day, except it is shortened so the nighttime is 2 hours, and daylight is 2 hours, with transitions like morning and evening.

A minute long might be too short, because in a 30 minute pursuit, the cycle would be days in the game. I think Fishwhiz's idea of a couple of hours for night and day is quite fair, and the transitions could be maybe 5 - 10 mins long.

what i wanna see is a real city, like New york or hollywood or stuff like that, not made up ones, because they get kinda boring after a while.

i also wanna see more cars, like bmw, ferrari, some european cars, and i wanna see the nissan silvia s 15.

i want more things out of it too like night and day racing, not all nighters.

could be nice if they put back the nos purge and the hydro, i think it would look kool if a lamborghini gallardo is doing hydros, so i have more stuff i just cant name them now ittl take me a while to post them up

That's why if EA just has the option of only tuning tuner-class cars majorly, and have minor tuning for exotics (Just rims, maybe spoiler, and visuals), then companies won't have problems with that. And it will also take less work from EA, so that should be good for them.
