Q - i think it just seems like there is down voting but when you have 50 odd contestents i think poepl are being a bit more carefulll with theirs votes. i mean form what i saw the cars that have low votes arent the gre8est cars

true, and i didnt give them great votes either, but there was plenty of cars i thought were great and were around 6.5... so many times ive heard people say its hard to get below a 7, i gave a 9 or so and its still round 6, so what r other people voting?!

yeah, i think just because this isnt a small comp like the others were when they had 14 cars. poeples votes are gonna range a lot more, from 5 all the way up to 10 because there is soo much more to compare things to now with nearly 50 contestants.

but i honestly dont think that there are any cars in the comp that deserve under 5, well in my opinon

I usually thake my car for a n 8 or 9. Cars I like more than mine recieve higher, equal same, and those I do not like very much can be 7 or 6. I have voted 5 sometimes, when I did'nt like the car at all, but I dont remember having voted lower than that.

ive give plenty of 5's. mostly to people who have sent in a plain car with no vinyls or anything like that, you say it crushes people to get a low vote, but i think if you submitt a plain blue car and expect a 9 or 10 your missing something ;)

I have 2 cars in SHowroom with around 8.6 and they are my prefered cars (of mine).

Lastly I am voting with 3 or 4 many times in TC because I see some ugly cars. I am honest, they are ugly and I vote with 2 or 3. I vote once 10points and once 1point each car. For example today I gave a 10 to an only Civic and 1 to an only another civic.

However I vote 8 and 9points many times too, so Im not a downvoter.

well its difficult in a community like this, Such as it is...I mean I dont mean to be agrressive by any means in the following statment, but im guessing a lot of the participents are an adverage age of 15+, who at that age realisticlly dont know the true form for honesty, they will be biased at there own creation, to them nothing else matters, no matter how much we all try to ignroe this fact, its simply a case of accepting it towards this large free community and moving on.. the One thing to bear in mind, and thats if he downvotes one car, then he will also downvote all of them, so you are not alone.

I think it sucks, but there is little that you or I can do anything about, unless the vote system is governed by a group of pannelists who simply study each car in an un-biased fashion, time consuming but alas honest!

As this point none of us can see who voted what for each other in the scale of things, and bearing in mind everyone is unique... there is no gerneral rule to voting 1 or 10, yourself can only be the judge of that...

I personally voted a few 1's as I really didnt like the style at all, but that was my scale, 1 meaning terrible, and 10 obv the best, with 5 in between.

So basiclly all im tryign to say is lets not whine and cry over such things, its a free service, and a free comp, sure there is prizes at stake, but whining will really not get anywhere, apart from just confuse the issue that _you_ are just the same as the next guy but taking a differnt view on things.

That is all...

Thanks for reading :)

Well, time for a mod to Sp3aK up again :)

zak I didn't read what you said, but I'm sure it's emotionally intruiging.

ANYWAYS! Yes, downvoting sucks. But it's something we can't totally prevent. For the TC we are defiantely trying to keep a close eye on it, and as far as I know we have gotten everyone. We have great sorting options thanks to bobyx that allows us to search by RATING, so we can just go straight to the 1's and start scrolling through to make sure that people aren't voting all ones.

That said, it does become hard to determine when people vote everything lower than a 6, with a few scattered higher votes. Some people are just really harsh on voting, and that's something we can't change. I use the 1-10 scale as it should be used. UrQ said how he grades it somehwere, and I agree with that. Alot of the long time members of the site, and even people like me, who are newer(comparatlvely), all use the right scale.

That said too, we do our best to moderate it. And as uhh... someone said... just report it if you notice something. GT3x24x7, bobyx, and myself are the best 3 people to PM abuot downvoting, in the public showroom and especially in the TC. I strongly discourage trying to take matters into your own hands, just leave it to us with banning powers :) hehehe... word.

Yeah that's all I have to say.

I voted many "3" and "4" to MX5 @ TC today. They were ugly with these horrible widebodys! I only hope not to be considered a downvoter, because I voted honestly what I felt.

downvoters really weewee me off. not only in the tuning challenge also in the show room, take a look at the author names of the first 10 (of course guests rated). once i saw my supra in the show room - pure 10, 1st place, 5 votes - next two votes and it goes down with the 7,42 point. obviously the next 2 votes were the 1 point votes, my car goes down and the list again owned by the 2 old known guys.
i'm proud that i gave 10 points to the winners of the tuning comp. during the 1st 2 days.

I don't get this... Yes, there were a lot of widebodys among the MX-5s, but some of them actually looks good. I don't automatically reduce my vote with 5 points just because there is a widebody, I look at the car first, and then decide.

I kinda thought widebodys was a bonus, since you have to complete Underground mode to get them, but I guess I was wrong. Same with Unique vinyls. When used the right way, with good base color, the car can look awesome with a Unique vinyl (yes, even if it's also got a widebody).

The whole idea is to get the cars to look good, right? So why don't let people use the parts that make their cars look good? Please, make me understand...

Yep, but i dont like widebody IN MX-5 so I did that. Today I have seen some of my Showroom cars, and found this situation with my Skyline "Mafia":

Users rating: 8.89 (9votes)
Guest rating: 3.44 (9votes)

Something is wrong, or I dont understand nothing. People like my car? Hate it? It is difficult to say...
I hope the 9people voted as user were not the same who voted as guest....

Danny , I don't think they were . I've seen your cars and you do good work , but some of your cars are too black , or dark , try some brighter colors . Don't let the downvoting get to you .

yep think past the guest votes.... they are horribly LOW

Like said before I vote mainly on what I see in the first sec. but most of the time a bad looking widebody CAN (Im not saying DOES) ruin a car instantly even it it has a great color and all... same goes for the unique vinyls

When this Challenge has it's own participants judging their own competition, you can't expect anything else, but downvoting (because noone want's the 'other guy' to win).

...The right solution should be Another Voting System:that means you've got a restricted number of low marks and as many High votes as you want! But there will be a problem:How could you know if the upcoming car you're going to vote looks better or even worse than the previous??So the -10- (or even -1-) you gave couldn't be enough! Then you should have the chance to COMPARE all the cars(anonymous cars!)! Without Comparing you can't rate in a correct way! You can't judge people's "single" taste...but if you look at the Tc Rankings you'll notice that the Winners mostly don't get more than 7 (average rating)!!That means:there's something wrong :?

IMHO,

For the next comp when you guys run it,
Make only 1 car per user to submit - decrease the number of submissions and your own time spent on uploading cars. That in turn will help us, the participants - we won't have to spend hours on voting tours. If you also have the judges panel select the cars that actually get to be presented to the voting public - that would be better - at least no more pink Neon, and cyan wheels with a christams selection of vinyls piled on top of each other. GT and bobyx are all good car designers in NFSU and their selections would surely increase the quality. Now we have even less entries!

We currently got like 3000 or smth cars in total - so we'd be down to may be 200 but really, those will be the better cars. There would be only 1 voting tour to take - all be it a long one, but it's possible with Nissan Skyline @ 190 right now. You'd improve the quality of the competition, and still will have a lot of potential winners. You'd only have 1 voting tour to thoroughly check for downvoting (instead of 20), and you could make the comp run with voting for ... 5 days, and than spend 3 days on sorting through the votes and making sure all is fair, no double users, upvoting and so on.

Than you publish the results - top 10 and then you can pick the winners - either yourselves or go with what the users liked (if there is a strong candidate for example).
