It's a matter of subjective taste anyway.
When will the world realise that big bodykits aren't good, they just make you look like a tit.

My family's car isn't all that flash, but our MY04 Suby WRX is a pretty good head turner with the big exhaust tip and massive subwoffer in the boot :).

Big exhausts = Rice ;)
Any WRX STi owner will tell you the only part of the exhaust system that needs modification is the downpipe :D

Couldn't agree more. Must admit I've just "chipped" the Leon 110 TDi - it's now kicking out approx 140 bhp and 285 Nm of torque. Makes a hell of a difference when you hit 2,000 rpm and the turbo kicks in... feels like you been smashed in the back by an HGV! I was tempted to put a badge on the back giving its new bhp figure, but thought I'd rather leave the guy in the 130bhp Passat I'd just blown into the reeds wondering how a 110 passed him like it was an FR... 8)

...And the actual tuner that did our exhaust along with heaps of other Subys, INCLUDING STis, even Foresters, Libertys and Outbacks, say that the MRT exhaust that we have on our Rex is much better than just the downpipe. Plus, now it can kick any car's ass on the main drag.

...no it cant. Who was the tuner? In all honesty, on a WRX, youve probably gained another 12bhp, and thats only if youve got a full system (manifold back).

S&J Auto Performance in Melbourne. And...yes it can. Although, the cars that drive in my hometown are stock, the only really tuned car was an R34 GT-R that had a full bodykit, red leather interior, and a lot more upgrades than our Rex. 'Till it got totalled after crashing at about 45mph/80kph.

No offence, I like WRXs (my brother drives a GDB), but if you have the fastest car with only an exhaust...I pity your town.

The laws of physics say you're wrong.
Basically, greatest restriction on an exhaust is it's smallest diameter section. Without bogging yourself into details about cat flow levels and the like, anyway. The smallest diameter section on a WRX exhaust is the downpipe. Putting an enormous muffler on it is going to make precicely no difference.

It was dynoed at (btw, I don't know KW to hp conversions, so deal with it) 215 KW over 169KW. That enough difference for you?

So you gained 60hp from an exhaust?
Not possible without other mods I'm afraid.

Can't you read right? I said Kilowatts, not horsepower. And I remembered we also got an aftermarket ECU.

Can't you read right? 215 minus 169 is 46 kW, which is roughly 60hp.

Your a moron. :D
I converted them to HP, then told you the difference in HP.
ECU might explain the power gain.

Thank you for explaining the difference between Kilowatts and horsepower, unlike steelsnake.

I hope those upgrades include a longer final drive, or a different 'box entirely, because as Im sure Ive told you before, the STi doesnt have the gearing to reach 170mph.

Gear limited to about 163 if I remember correctly from the last person you told that.

Work it out for yourself. You have a brain, don't you?

Anyway, to bring this back on topic a little heres a couple of pictures of the 964 (actually from when it came off the trailer just after I picked it up). Excuse the double-yellow-line parking, I think someone had stolen the spot by my drive!

Now thats a beautiful car ;)

Three quick phone pics to show how the 5 is sat now. Coilovers arrive on the 13th, then shes into the body shop a week later. After that, Im having the timing advanced and booking her in for a full geometric alignment. Eventually, there is a silver box with Mr Jackson Racings name on it going on with an E-manage Blue and some 370cc injectors. :P
