Re: What Phone Do You Have?
My mate was gonna get another colour for his back cover on his N73 aparently it costs a fair bit for such a small piece of polymer.

Re: What Phone Do You Have?
White....silver...same thing no? (on cellphones at least). I saw the white/red version and the so-called white looked the same to me as silver.Andre_online wrote:There's the one with white in front and brown at the back.

Nope, different. I believe the back of your phone is dark greyish or black in colour. This is what the white one looks like at the back.2furio wrote:White....silver...same thing no? Dude, I don't think I'm stupid enough to not know the difference between an MP3 player and a PDA phone. I'm talking about Dopod, NOT iPod.S2000_Skyline12 wrote:Thats a old model dude. And what do you mean a rip off the "Dopod"? iPod? cause I see no simalaries between it and a iPod.

@2furio: Is the OS on that N73 buggy and/or freezing cuz i want to buy that phone but i am not sure about the OS.

Re: What Phone Do You Have?
My experience with Symbian OS' are that they tend to be a little slow (smartphone, ofcourse) and rarely freeze. It always seems that you can go back if it jams and refuses to load something.

Re: What Phone Do You Have?
A lot of phones have slide out keyboards nowadays...and i've never heard of a "Dopod"...
Unlocking the SK is a bit differnt than normal phones because of it's"Danger" OS
But do they even have SKs in Romania or even any other place than the US?
and the costs vary in which version you buy (Sidekick II, Sidekick III, Sidekick III DW edition, and Sidekick iD)
and if you would like to know the differences...
Sidekick II-Camera, white, a bit bigger than the SKIII, and no track ball it has a scroll wheel
Sidekick III-Camera, MP3 player, a bit smaller and rounded off, grey and black, track ball
Sidekick III (Dwayne Wade edition)- Camera, MP3 player, same size as normal SK, white and tan, battery cover has a basketball print and feel on it in tan, some small design in the border around the screen
Sidekick iD- No camera, no MP3, track ball, interchangeable button color covers, white/whatever color the button covers are, and around the same size as a SKII
Theres also another rare special edition of the SKIII that is green and black with a dragon design print

I'll be honest...I have not experienced any freezing at all (it would be scary), however, when opening applications, there may be a slight delay...a fraction of a second. Indeed, it is not as quick as normal phones but then again, it's stuffed with applications and goodies.BrontoX wrote:@2furio: Is the OS on that N73 buggy and/or freezing cuz i want to buy that phone but i am not sure about the OS.
I haven't experienced any bugs. Then again, I wasn't in the position of getting those bugs. There was one I heard where if you listen to music and someone calls you, the phone will freeze. Of course, I haven't activated my phone, so I wouldn't know.
The good news is that most of bugs are fixed in firmware upgrades. I haven't upgraded it on mine because apparently, you need a SIM card in your phone to do so. From what I've read on the boards, many people have been complaining about various bugs and once they've updated, the phone was perfect. I also heard that updating the firmware will optimize performance and even image quality during the night.
For example, if you take pics at night, with the original firmware, they will have this tint of blue. Once you upgrade to the newest one, it's gone and the pics look more realistic.
In conclusion, I'll tell you this...is it perfect? No. Will it be perfect after you upgrade? No, it will still have some minor quirks. Was the phone worth the money (even when considering people get it for free with a contract in Europe)? Yes...it was definitely worth it. The phone is far superior to what we get here and it is nothing like what we get here. We don't have smartphones the size of cellphones. Here, if you want a smartphone here, you need to get one of those big and fat Treos.
Then again, this was my first cellphone so I really have nothing to compare it with so, I think Stig can explain it better because he had his N73 for a while now and he has more experience with it.
Re: What Phone Do You Have?
So,it canâ€t be unlocked.
Btw,whatâ€s the prize for a SK iD??What about the SK III?

Re: What Phone Do You Have?
Haha! But yours is definitely the silver one. It has the chromy-silver smooth feeling on the front. The white one is plain dull IMO. Haha!2furio wrote:That's how mine looks like.I know in the pics I took, it looks much darker but when you put under light...that's how it looks like! That's the plum colour...
Symbian 3rd series is by far the best Symbian series I've ever used. I'm using a Nokia N80. I have to say that the OS is much faster now than the previous S60. I was using a Nokia 3230 previously. My N80 does hang at times, and it tends to restart itself and not reading the memory card. I have to actually restart the phone to make it work normally again, and the battery life sucks. So what I do now usually is restart my phone everyday to prevent any freezing from happening. I think I'm gonna upgrade the firmware soon. One solution to prevent lagging of the phone is to delete the cache frequently after using the Web Browser. My cache took up about 3MB of space once in my phone memory.
Hope that helps. So far, my N80's been good to me.
Re: What Phone Do You Have?
I was actually surprised to find a 128 mb microSD card in the package. Sure, it's not a lot but since it's from Nokia directly, I'm hoping I won't have any trouble with it (as I read, sometimes the N73 "forgets" there is a microSD in the phone).
I doubt I'll be using the e-mail and web browser. The cheapest data plan (which also includes airtime ) is about 45 bucks and it you have only 0.5 mb and if you go over that, it will charge you 21 bucks for 1 mb...it's madness...Rogers really need to step up and lower these prices...we don't live in the stone age.
Other than that, everything is cool....except I dunno if there was something wrong with the picture or the N73 didn't like it but it looked pixelated on my phone (The picture having a resolution of 1024x768) and this happened on red colours...the other pictures are crystal clear and nice.
Also...when you try to set one of your custom pictures as a background...it's not full screen!! What's up with that??! How do you make the picture a fullscreen wallpaper?

Re: What Phone Do You Have?
I think you have to create a custom theme and set use the picture as the theme background. Symbian doesn't seem to support full screen backgrounds.

Re: What Phone Do You Have?
The N73 isn't the only one my 6234 does that sometimes and i need to take it out and put it back in again, and this happened after i bought a Corsair at 512mb microSD, before i had a 64 mb Nokia card and didn't have trouble with it.2furio wrote:I was actually surprised to find a 128 mb microSD card in the package. Re: What Phone Do You Have?
@ 2furio: Where in Canada do you live (Toronto or somewhere else?)? Because once I get back from New York, I'll be ordering my Motorola RAZR maxx V6 but since I'm on Rogers Pay As You Go, I'm not sure whether the Opera 8 browser will work, and if it does, how much they will charge me. I've already asked them this via email, but they tend to walk around the answer, sort of like how EA does. Obviously, I'm going to try asking them again, but if you already have any idea of how this would work, I'd appreciate it if you told me.

Re: What Phone Do You Have?
I live in Toronto and data plans are a non no here. It is unbelievable how much Rogers charges for data plans. In fact, all of Rogers' plans just suck. I say Fido's better. After I get back from Italy, I will probably either go prepaid with a $20 card. Sure, with prepaid, it is not billing by the second but unlike plans, the leftover money gets rolled over to next month.

Re: What Phone Do You Have?
Yeah, that's exactly what I'm using right now. At one point, I had $75 in my account. Right now I have $35, so I'm doing quite well with this plan. And the reason why I asked if you lived in Toronto is because right now it is the only 3G area in Canada (Rogers service).

Re: What Phone Do You Have?
Yeah...but I'll be using my phone in Waterloo starting in September (that's where my university is) so even though my phone does have 3G, it's pointless because Robbers (aka Rogers) can't upgrade their stone-age technology.

Re: What Phone Do You Have?
Tell me about it... If some Korean/Chinese/Japanese service provider came into Canada; Rogers, Fido, Telus, and Bell would all go bankrupt within a few weeks. I think there are places in Africa that have better service providers than Canada.

Re: What Phone Do You Have?
I know!!! Someone needs to step up. Maybe I shall become an entrepreneur and put these businesses out.Porsche-AG wrote:Tell me about it... Re: What Phone Do You Have?
Yup! You're not the only one.. It happens to my N80 as well. Apparently S60 the 3rd has this bug where it just resets a little part of your whole phone, including my profile, when it can't read the memory card.2furio wrote:I was actually surprised to find a 128 mb microSD card in the package. Thank God N80 has WiFi. Hahahahaha! Also wrote:I doubt I'll be using the e-mail and web browser. Haha! A friend of mine who bought N73 said the phone takes weird pictures when flash is used. I don't know how she defined 'weird', but I'd love to hear it from you. Hee!Also wrote:her than that, everything is cool....except I dunno if there was something wrong with the picture or the N73 didn't like it but it looked pixelated on my phone (The picture having a resolution of 1024x768) and this happened on red colours...the other pictures are crystal clear and nice.
Yup, it never shows full screen. Maybe only covers the middle part of the screen, However, you can still do that by creating a theme of your own. Go to OwnSkin.com to try it out. Also wrote:Also...when you try to set one of your custom pictures as a background...it's not full screen!! What's up with that??!
