Videocards.. which to buy and whatnot.. simply videocards!
Re: Videocards.. which to buy and whatnot.. simply videocards!
Still, I wouldn't get an 8 series. They're the first ones with DX10. I'd wait till the 9series come out.

VGA Diamond HD2900XT
Radeon HD 2900XT
GeForce 8800GTX
GeForce 8800GTS
GeForce 8600GT

Re: Videocards.. which to buy and whatnot.. simply videocards!
8800GTX (if you plan to get SLi then this is the better choice, but even without SLi this is the best).
HD2900XT only if you plan to get a crossfire motherboard.

Re: Videocards.. which to buy and whatnot.. simply videocards!
I got a 7600GT AGP in December.
FEAR:
High FPS-
CPU - Max (3.2ghz Northwood)
GFX - High
Oblivion:
High FPS -
Medium-High (outside) - High(inside)
NFS Carbon
High FPS -
All GFX max, but no motion blur (annoying), res 1280x768.
Great card if you desperately need a decent upgrade.

A 2900XT ATM for the best performance & Price (vs 8800GTS)... however...
Nvidia drivers will improve... and they have physics processing too. I'd go Nvidia 8800GTS(640mb) unless I had a Physics card already. You can OC them and they chew less power and heat less too. The 8800GTX and 8800ultra are unbeatble though.

My card is so crap, it doesnt even make it on the list.

Re: Videocards.. which to buy and whatnot.. simply videocards!
1 FPS on a single benchmark @ 1280x1024 is "beating the shiznit" out of the 8800 GTX ?BrontoX wrote:The new 8800GT is out and it beats the shiznit out of the 8800GTX just look at the attachment pic.
Re: Videocards.. which to buy and whatnot.. simply videocards!
Sorry typo, i meant the GTS cuz the "Family Tree" should be GT< GTS <GTX < ULTRA but it seems it is GTS < GTX < GT/Ultra.Jmac- wrote:1 FPS on a single benchmark @ 1280x1024 is "beating the shiznit" out of the 8800 GTX ?BrontoX wrote:The new 8800GT is out and it beats the shiznit out of the 8800GTX just look at the attachment pic.

Re: Videocards.. which to buy and whatnot.. simply videocards!
It's clear that the GT stands above the GTS, but whether it's GT<GTX or GTX<GT isn't clear. The resolution is too low anyway.

Re: Videocards.. which to buy and whatnot.. simply videocards!
Exactly ... No one in their right mind drops $500 on a GTX and plays at 1280x1024 ... Not to mention it's only 1 game ... and they're probably using an engineering sample as opposed to a retail sample ...PSZeTa wrote:It's clear that the GT stands above the GTS, but whether it's GT<GTX or GTX<GT isn't clear. Until there are results at 1920x1080 or higher over a range of different games using different rendering engines, saying GT>GTX or GTX>GT is really moot ...

Re: Videocards.. which to buy and whatnot.. simply videocards!
The reason the res is so low is because they were trying to get the lower cards in there, and it also make the 8 series look much more powerful when compared to a 7- series.

Re: Videocards.. which to buy and whatnot.. simply videocards!
Pretty useless when we're looking for the performance gap between the highend cards.. The difference between a high-end 7-series card and a high-end 8-series card would be more significant on a higher resolution anyway.

shiznit?
Either way, I forget where I'd seen the fps scores for the card, but it did quite a bit better than the 640MB 8800GTS (which really... pisses me off... meh, I'll live with it and probably buy one myself, or 2
) at really decent resolutions they were using for the test in F.E.A.R., PREY, etc..

Can someone give me tips or website links or recommened tools so i could overclock my graphics card, or just infomation about it since my graphics card is peeving me off & ive been hearing from my friends that they do it and it helps them out when playing games and stuff like that.

Re: Videocards.. which to buy and whatnot.. simply videocards!
pretty sure you had a nvidia card... so -> Rivatuner
take care though, OC'ing is done at your own risk!

Alright, I'm now in the market for a newer VC. But I dont need one that can end all, as I'm not an avid PC gamer.
Currently, I have a nVidia 7300LE 128MB. I'm just wondering if it is worse than the nVidia GeForce 8400GS 256MB. Or should I go with the nVidia GeForce 7600 GT 256MB?

I recomend the 8800 GT. They go for maybe $250-$299 or the 8600GT $150.
For me i'm waiting for the Radeon HD 3000 series
They looking pretty good.
