I think it's because your CPU is too slow. And maybe graphics card.
I don't know if you can replace a laptop CPU.

Sorry for you. :|

Yes I also noticed the Traction Control... I find it hard to believe that you can do burnouts with traction control on... that's just wrong. dunno how to turn it off either, hopefully there will be such an option to do so in the retail game.

Also noticed the other 2 aids ABS (anti-lock braking system) and SM... which i am unsure of.. Stability or Steering management or something...

Anyways, I recall an EA representative confirming that the physics is the same throughout the whole game's different race modes (from http://www.nfsunlimited.net/article/pro ... ne_q_and_a):
4. Will the physics in drifting and drag races be the same or different to the physics used in normal circuit races? If different, how so? And to what extent will the differences influence the car's handling? (93360)

The physics are the same all of the modes. The differences you'll see will be in the levels and types of assists available. We want ProStreet to be a game you can pick up and play and a game you can dial in for the level of challenge you enjoy.
So is anyone game to give a shot at drifting in the grip race?
I can't because my game is laggy enough (see below) hence i cannot be bothered.

basically my cpu (p4 - 2.4ghz) is letting me down
everything else is ok (1.5gb ram, 256mb x800 vivo) but i am having to run everything (resolution, detail, antialiasing, etc) at lowest possible value, even the arrows and corner indicator thingo options are turned off. however i do have smoke and damage turned on as they somehow dont seem to affect pc performance all that much.

No way it's driftable. I tried but all those traction, helpers, etc brake you. I don't know if the SkylineR35 is AWD or RWD. I think they haven't even included Drift Psyhichs (sp?). If we could get the RX7 or M3 in Grip it would be easy to know.

actually, I can run games that requires 2,8ghz smoothly, usualy they base the min. req. on Pentium 4

I searched in google and find nothing, only a guy saying os his impressions on his laptop and nothing more O.o

maybe PS only works on lucky ones laptops...

I have noticed a major problem. I have the smoke set on Off, but it still goes out when cars touch dirt. In the Nevada Desert the cars just spawn dirt in the back in the middle of the road, and that counts as smoke, thus making my game lag like shiznit. From 30-40 fps to 10-13 fps. Outrageous.

The demo works fine on my bro's computer except for 2 things:

- If you have the FX settings on max there are random glitches with the smoke.
- Occasional glitches where the cliff faces will randomly extrude themselves across the track.

This is with a Q6600, 1GB RAM, 8800GTS 320MB.

My guess is the GTS can't quite keep up.

i should also note that this is a MUST for the people who think their computer might bog on them when playing Pro Street.

EnditAll is a program that allows you to kill those unwanted and or unneeded apps that run in the background. Plus if a game freezes on you just TAB your way out of it, go in EnditAll and Kill the process right on the spot. I use it and i swear i gain at least a extra 5-15 fps in my games.

it also wouldnt hurt to grab ntune and overclock your Videocard a bit.

I can't even play the demo because when I try to download, I get error or it takes forever to download, 1 MB every 12 minutes to be exact.

I NOTICED A FEW BUGS, ATLEAST ON MY SYSTEM:

P4 2.4 ghz
1 gb RAM
GeForce 6800XT 512mb

DIRT IS STILL ON EVEN IF I HAVE ALL SET TO MINIMUM. ANNOYING BECAUSE IT LAGS.

On my card, it runs so smooth on All Minimum + 1024x768. When I put it on All Minimum + 640x800 it lags like a booboo.

I hope they sort the dirt bug out.

Edit:

Try setting up the highest resolution in-game for your monitor, 1024x768, WITH ALL SETTINGS TO MINIMUM, EVEN CAR DETAIL, AND SMOKE AND THAT OFF. Should work.

Yeah, that's probably it though but try lowering the car detail option to "low". If fails, it's your GC.

Probably it will be fixed in the full version as the settings from the demo are stripped down. There are more options in the full version right?

Hi all. The new NFS is cool ( but my favorite is still NFSU 1 & 2 ) . Hope on the game (not demo) we can switch off Traction Control , ABS and this MS (wtf?! :D ) . I have some other question for you -> what times you get at grip racing ? Here are my best for now ( King difficult , manual transmission , keyboard ). I wait for yours dudes little challenge till we wait for the game =] - >
