Hot damn, that's a nice car! I'm envious. Though the 300ZX is on my radar and should be within reach in just over a year

I'd warn you against it. They're expensive to keep in working order (and I mean REALLY expensive, moreso than either of my cars), the LWB ones handle about as tightly as a tram and they're a fair bit heavier and slower than you'd expect.Porsche-AG wrote:Hot damn, that's a nice car! E92 is the coupé. Looks like a 325i sport, but could be a 335/330 too.danyutz wrote:is it the coupe or the cabrio? engine?

Wow, I never knew they were that expensive to keep. Would the same go for the Z32 without a Twin Turbo? And if so, would lets say a 2000 Toyota Celica be as expensive to maintain?sic wrote:thats true if you want maintain a TTZ...steelsnake00 wrote:I'd warn you against it. Re: What car do you drive ?
A 2000 Celica would be alot les expensive to maintain. there is no real expensive stuff on a Celica that needs alot of maintainance or anything.Porsche-AG wrote: Wow, I never knew they were that expensive to keep. The Engine is a strong solid engine, as toyota engines generally are, there is no turbo or anything. the suspension etc is pretty basic, so no All wheel steering like the Z32 so not much to go wrong there and it's not as expensive to replace or anything like the 300ZX
I do like the styling of the 300ZX and was thinking of getting a 300ZX TT a while ago but was put of by the fact that it was so damn expensive to have, even thought the salesprice is in general pretty interesting, the insurance and tax costs where quiet alot (at least where I live) because the original price of the car was high and they weight... well 1600kg is't really lite, actually it's heavy.
And then came the fact that its not a very fuel efficient car to run, and heard that there where alot of problems with the cars in terms of maintaince (and the costs of it)
All that combined with the fact that it's still a 2 person coupe with very little lugageroom (for a car that size) I went looking for a car that was lighter and smaller but more practical.
And the final generation of Celica was one of the cars I was looking at together with the CTR wich I still have.

Wow, just the miles per gallon is enough to turn people off... I can spend half as much on gas by purchasing the Celica insteadTheStig wrote:A 2000 Celica would be alot les expensive to maintain. there is no real expensive stuff on a Celica that needs alot of maintainance or anything.

I also did a side-by-side comparison of the repair costs for the 300ZX and Celica, and apparently the 300ZX is distinctly more expensive or equal in price for specific repairs than the Celica. I will not list all of them, but the results can be found in the following 2 links:
http://consumerguideauto.howstuffworks. ... lica-6.htm
http://consumerguideauto.howstuffworks. ... 00zx-6.htm
The repair costs for the 300ZX aren't as bad as you think, but they are extremely pricey for a couple of things (Automatic Transmission/Transaxle is $1620 compared to Celica's $690 repair cost for the same part).

Re: What car do you drive ?
Celica has a turbo engine, the one that has 192HP, isn't that a turbo engine?TheStig wrote:Porsche-AG wrote:

although, one of my best friends owns a 2000 Celica, bought it for 6000euros, all scratched, and bended spots, with a bullet in the front bumper .. now, it's in service, waiting for the electric orange power coat and the veilside bodykit

Re: What car do you drive ?
The 192hp celica is not a turbo version it is a NA 1.8 VVTL-I 2ZZ-FE
It is one of the few engines that manages 100hp/L from without a turbo or supercharger
The US model barely makes that because it has 180 instead of 192hp

As for the 'serious fun', I'd love to have some fun (in an amazingly beautiful machine) but it isn't fun watching your wallet get drained at over twice the rate of a just-as-fun Celica. I won't totally rule out the 300ZX just yet, but I think the Celica has taken top spot on my list as of now. Not only that, but Toyotas are extremely reliable, which is the opposite in Nissan's case (Unreliable).

Re: What car do you drive ?
You can't really compare TTZ with celica, celica is just a regular car that can be driven daily. Its like bmw m3 comparing to golf gtiPorsche-AG wrote:sic wrote:and try to imagine you get 30liter+@100km, but if you want some serious HP and fun to drive you really don't look at costs

Re: What car do you drive ?
thinking on a RWD Celica
found some reasonable priced Celicas on mobile.de .. some where around 6-7k euros, even found a 5k one, but it suffered a crash, minimal dough, it was a great deal if you have a tuning in mind. left front wing, left headlight and the hood were damaged. Also searched for some del Sol .. 2-3k with small number of km, but in Romania you can't speak of registering cars lower than Euro 3, they are so idiots, I really hope they will give up on that tax, starting next year ... so I could buy me the Honda.
