What car do you drive ?
Re: What car do you drive ?
Well, my mom decided she doesn't want me getting a small car (unsafe in a car accident) or a convertible (not without a roll bar, anyway), so so much for a Miata.

Re: What car do you drive ?
Guess that takes the Celica convertible out of the equation, too. Sorry to hear that HaZ, but I'm sure there are still plenty of options that should fill your criteria.

Re: What car do you drive ?
something like a Coupe DeVille, it's big so it must be safe, and hé it's not a convertible, but you could install a rollcage to make it even more safe
(in other words, not all small cars are unsafe, and does your mom expect you to flip your car, but then...mothers

My dad brought up a good point, actually: I'm 18, and it's my money - I can buy pretty much whatever the firetruck I want.

Re: What car do you drive ?
What Bogan says is the truth. Of course, being your first car you may not notice the inherent problems at first, but eventually you will, and itll annoy the hell out of you. In all honesty, I loved my AW11, but after 3 weeks of driving it hard, I started to wish Id bought a tin-top.

Top Gear reviews MX5

In fact, simply typing 'Miata' into google comes up with thousands of reviews, both from the TV and owners of the cars themselves. They have their own racing series, and every weekend, they dominate cars with 3 and 4 times their power in solo events. There arent many people Ive met who dont hold an opinion about the MX5, and Id say more often than not theyre very positive.

The problem with MX5s is they fetch such a broad range of prices, and to most people its hard to see why. Generally, a Eunos will go for anywhere from £500 to £2000, depending on age/condition etc. A UKDM car here usually goes for £1500+, and an FI MX5 will fetch around £4-5k. Bargains come up all the time, and I recently saw a Eunos with 45'000km go for £500 because the soft-top had been knifed. To replace the rag-top with another one is around £150...I don't think you can buy a MX5 for such price, I don't know how the price are there but atleast here you have to pay pretty much for a decent MX5.
That's because you don't hear much about the Miata at all

Good news on both fronts there mate. I bought a roll-bar for £40 which is a copy of an FIA-approved design. Oh, and 1990 Miata crash test results. In fact, Id say youre safer in one of these than you are in an old Volvo.Well, my mom decided she doesn't want me getting a small car (unsafe in a car accident) or a convertible (not without a roll bar, anyway), so so much for a Miata
Good to see youve grown some stones, buy that Miata, you know you want to.y dad brought up a good point, actually: I'm 18, and it's my money - I can buy pretty much whatever the firetruck I want.
Thanks mate, glad you like her. Shes in for a full wheel alignment soon that should see some pretty aggressive camber/toe changes.By the way, awesome sig man. Your ride looks nicer and nicer every time I see a new picture of it.

Maybe it's just where I live, because in Alberta most people are driving massive Ford trucks or SUVs and I actually don't hear or see much about Miatas. And I'm in no way saying they're bad cars, because I have seen 1 show on the Speed Channel dealing with some affordable, fun cars and the Miata was listed as one though often the target of "girl car" jokes.

Re: What car do you drive ?
Meh, I used to get the 'girls car' jokes a lot, especially at work. But the two main guys who do it (one drives a DC2 and the other an EP3) will never come to the track against me, which I think speaks volumes.

Re: What car do you drive ?
Straight up. Personally, I don't give a crap whether I don't see MX5s a lot or whether people call them girls cars. When I do see them, they look pretty damn cool to me. Grez's especially. Good stuff, mate, keep up the good work.

Re: What car do you drive ?
I'm test diving an Audi RS4 at an Audi stealership later today. I'm not likely to buy this particular one but I wanna see how they drive.
Will let you all know what I think.

Are you testing the sedan, convertible or station wagon?

Cant see you being disappointed mate. Only ever driven one in a straight line (dual-carriageway...), but the noise and theatre of it all are very impressive.

I loved it- lots of presence and plenty of power- pulls better than the M3 does and seems better built, but the suspention could do with a little bit of work. If I'm getting one it's coilovers all the way.

@steelsnake, can you tell us what model of RS4 you're looking at, is it the current model or a other model of RS4?

Re: What car do you drive ?
It's a B5 Avant from 2001, so it's a late model in the previous generation of RS4. 2.7 Biturbo with 380bhp out of the box. The one I test drove had pretty much every option ticked but I'm not so fussed about sat-nav and the like (as I don't tend to get lots that much). The top-end (believe it was Bang and Olufsen) stereo is a must for me, though, as is the right colour- graphite grey, please.TheStig wrote:steelsnake, can you tell us what model of RS4 you're looking at, is it the current model or a other model of RS4?

Re: What car do you drive ?
Damn you, Tex. I'm jealous... They look great man, especially wrapped in those Pilot Sports.

Re: What car do you drive ?
Bang&Olufsen is heaven, Steel. I am currently - slowly, but steadily lol - filling up my room with B&O wares, and it is an absolute pleasure listening to and most certainly also to look at!! But I was not aware of their systems being available for previous Audis?
I am curious to see what you find, anyway - I demand you show us as soon as possible
Oh, and what a beautiful car, Tex
