Even in Alberta (where there's massive oil reserves), we pay $1.15+ per Litre, and it's expected to pass $1.30 by spring.

Re: What car do you drive ?
@ HaZ: Well that's a relief. I thought us Albertans were getting cheated off of our well earned oil obtained by high school drop outs.

Re: What car do you drive ?
DUH! I know that, but still it is cheaper,Stereo wrote:Still, it's not a dollar per gallon here...
The only reason that the prices aren't rising here as much lately as in the US is because oil is based on the US dollar, and everybody knows that the Dollar is going down in value as we speak.
And because the Euro is now just under 1.50 wich for us now is not to bad for the fuel price cause it is relatively steady (fuel goes up /dollar goes down)
But still 1 litre of unleaded fuel is just over 1.50 euro wich makes it $2.20.
Man I now even pay more then 1.10E for a bloody litre of diesel, and diesel was suposed to be CHEAP.

Re: What car do you drive ?
Yeah, like AU. The US dollar pretty much equals AU dollar, when it used to be US$=AU$2 around about.

Re: What car do you drive ?
Which if correct is around 8,3 USD a gallon. Very cheap indeed.TheStig wrote:But still 1 litre of unleaded fuel is just over 1.50 euro wich makes it $2.20.

Re: What car do you drive ?
I could kill for 3 dollars a gallon... If my maths are correct, a gallon of 95 octane gasoline (the normal, and also cheapest type) costs 8.08 USDStereo wrote:Where I live in the U.S. it's almost 3 dollars a gallon. Not cheap at all... So 3 dollars a gallon IS cheap.

Re: What car do you drive ?
Maybe one day we should start using them, but at the moment technology has not come far enough.
And whether or not it is economically viable, I would still choose death over a hybrid.

Re: What car do you drive ?
Hot4s actually raises an interesting point on hybrids.
Because they're so quiet, deaths of blind people have increased because of them, because considering they can't hear it, they can't see it, so they think it's safe, then BAM!! they're dead.

Re: What car do you drive ?
But maybe people who drive them should use their EYES!!!
And in general blind people are identifieble because they use a stick that in general is clearly marked to show that they are blind.
I don't know how many blind people are killed by a hybrid but the chances are that's ZERO, ZIP, NADA, NIL. It's not like there are countless blind people all over streets
Sorry mate but that is the WORST EXCUSE I heard against a hybrid.
Sure they got disadvantages but please don't come here and say: ooh man they are so quiet blind people can't hear them, so they get killed by them.
Even if they don't hear them, wich I really doubt, cause in general blind people have MUCH better ears then people that aren't blind (because they learned to focus all their energy on their ears)
In the city it's not the engine that makes the most noise it's the tires.
And last time I heard they still use tires, or maybe they are talking about hybrid hovercrafts I don't know.
In other words, that interesting argument that Hot4s came with is abslute BS!

I agree with TheStig.
That would be like me saying, "Countless people are dieing from freak gasoline accidents at petrol stations."
PS - If you haven't done so yet, make sure you watch Zoolander.

I have watched Zoolander, but when I said that deaths of blind people are rising, take no notice of that. I have a habit of typing before I read...Porsche-AG wrote:I agree with TheStig.

What I meant to say is that hybrids are coming under fire by the National Federation of the Blind (which is an actual federation and this is a true fact before you ask) because of safety issues due to lack of noise from hybrid cars. A short-sighted woman even had two near misses with hybids. She didn't know it was there because she couldn't hear it coming.

Re: What car do you drive ?
In what country was that, somewhere where the roads are so smooth that you can't even hear the tires rolling on it? and where they have countless of hybrids?
or do all other cars drive around 30 mph in 1st gear so everybody can haer them?
There are plenty of cars around that have normal petrol engines that you can hardly hear in low revs.
My gf's Yaris is also bloody quiet, I once forgot to turn it off when I was at the gasstation. and only noticed it when I wanted to start it again, and I don't even have bad ears.
The Civic and the 206 are a diffirent story, the civic because you can hear it running, and it simply loves to be higher up the revs, not that it's a noisy car in low revs but you can hear it better then the yaris, and well the 206 is simply noisy because it's a bloody diesel.

@ Koenigsegg: That short sighted woman is just an idiot then. Why would you cross the road without looking just because you can't hear anything?

Re: What car do you drive ?
About a year ago, where i live, a blind person was walking across the street and got hit by a non-hybrid car. it was a big suv so you know she had to hear it......unless she was deaf too.
This is a true story too.

Well at least it gets him to A to B.
He paid $1500 for it everything standard, except the exhaust and tacho he has on it.

Re: What car do you drive ?
Well, I'll give you that, although I have no idea why my dad's only charging me a grand for the R31 when he paid $3500 to actually buy it... but anyhoo, I suppose a Daihatsu isn't too bad, it depends on what you're using it for, eg, race_invaders friend using it for general driving. Although the general saying goes, chicks dig cool cars...
