well your dads letting you buy it for that amount coz well he is your dad.
My friends car has not that much on it just mainly stock he has a subwoofer and 2 amps one amp isn't connected and a tacho without shift light. He also uses it for just driving no hooning or showing off.

Probably one of the only things I'd be getting on the R31 is some nice rims. The original ones, like most late-80s Japanese cars, are absolute crap. Although I won't be getting expensive tyres like the ones on the Rex ($400 for ONE TYRE!!!).

If you don't want to spend $400 a piece, then don't buy big rims. Tyre cost varies a lot, depending on the size you want.Koenigsegg_Rox wrote:Probably one of the only things I'd be getting on the R31 is some nice rims. 233,000km on the odometer and still running strong.
I drive it on much shorter distances nowadays.

Jesus... The tires for my dad's Miata are only ~$120 each, and they're R rated (205/45R17). Granted, they're only 17" as opposed to whatever an STi has (19"?).Koenigsegg_Rox wrote:Although I won't be getting expensive tyres like the ones on the Rex ($400 for ONE TYRE!!!).

That's why the biggest I'll be getting is 18-inch, but I'll probably go for 17s.boganbusman wrote:If you don't want to spend $400 a piece, then don't buy big rims. Tyres should be top of your list as to what to buy for your car. Out of everything you buy, theyre the only things that will be touching the road. Dont skimp where its important.

Re: What car do you drive ?
Right, it's an MY04 WRX with 19-inch Konig Unknown, but the other reason they're so dear is because they're grippy Toyo Proxes 4s. They're pretty expensive to buy in the first place. Sadly, my mum's probably going to sell the 'Rex. If she does it will be sorely missed for smoking the Common-w***es at the lights...Zero260 wrote:If I remember correctly, it isn't a STI and it has custom wheels...
Oh, and to the dude with the Maserati, sure, it's a good Italian brand, but surely your parents can afford to buy an insanely cooler Italian supercar. Fezza, anyone??

They're not expensive at all if you buy them in smaller sizes. I'll be getting Toyo Proxes T1Rs when I upgrade to 15"s.Koenigsegg_Rox wrote:Right, it's an MY04 WRX with 19-inch Konig Unknown, but the other reason they're so dear is because they're grippy Toyo Proxes 4s. I don't understand why people buy huge wheels. It costs a lot, reduces ride quality, makes your car slower, and in many cases looks ugly.

The uninformed think bigger wheels look nice and improve resale value.boganbusman wrote:I don't understand why people buy huge wheels. It costs a lot, reduces ride quality, makes your car slower, and in many cases looks ugly.

Yes, but that's 15". Seriously, I don't have any say in what my mum wants, so it's her decision.boganbusman wrote:They're not expensive at all if you buy them in smaller sizes. But for your car, it's up to YOU. Just think about the pros and cons, thats all.
Will you be happy to sacrifice money, performance and comfort just for looks?

Re: What car do you drive ?
On the subject of rims I thought it would be a good exercise to swap my dads 17" Advantis onto my Prelude for the weekend while he was away. I was pleased with the overall clean look and was surprised that I hadn't lost performance as I smoked off a Turbo 323 GT, kept beside a Silvia S14 Turbo and a Subaru GT Turbo Wagon. They fitted great and were very close to the size of the original 15"s with tyres
