Just want to talk? Come here.
Re: Just want to talk? Come here.
..........
Anyway, I forgot how slow my laptop is. 1.6 Ghz seems like an old lady's walker compared to the 3 Ghz I'm cruzin with on my desktop PC. I'm looking into some possibilities of doing some OC work on it. I've read that the processor I have is capable of OCing from 3 Ghz to 4 Ghz with some minor BIOS adjustments.

It's a matter of changing a few BIOS values. Easily done, but whether your CPU is up to task?
Asking someone to run twice as fast is easy. Actually running twice as fast is a little harder.

Yeah, saw the Golden Compass on a t.v. commercial and i thought it was crap before i even watched it.
Re: Just want to talk? Come here.
Good analogy, but yea some people had huge success with the one I have, the E6850 Dual Core, and were able to bump it safely almost to 4 Ghz from the factory setting of 3. I wasn't able to read more because it was late and I had to get up early so all I got to was that he got it to 3.9 Ghz.PSZeTa wrote:It's a matter of changing a few BIOS values. Besides I know that as long as you keep the CPU mighty cool it'll run efficiently for a long time with OC settings.
For my cooling needs I hand picked the Zalman CNPS9700. Maximum PC rated it a 9 and gave it the KickA$$ award and held that title for almost a year now. Others have reached the same cooling efficiency that the CNPS9700 has, but they come with 2 price tags. One in the store and the second in taking up TONS of case space. The CNPS9700 is a small package with a HUGE cooling effect.Maximum PC magazine January 2008 issue wrote:If you're running your CPU at stock speeds, you're missing out on your PC's true potential, because processors often harbor power beyond their official specs. Your proc, for example, might be rated to run at 3 GHz but is actually capable of operating reliably at 3.3 GHz There are myriad reasons for the hidden headroom ranging from natural variance among parts to the manu facturers' practice of underclocking parts to meet market needs.
Excessive heat can cause system instability so it's essential to keep your overclocked CPU cool. To achieve extremely high overclocks, some hobbyists bather their CPUs in liquid nitrogen. Others use phase-change units (essentially tiny freezers) to push 3 GHz chips past the 5 GHz mark. The point is, you can't expect to push your 1.86 GHz proc to a reliable 4 GHz using a $12 heatsink. Know your overclocking goals and then choose your cooling accordingly.
Well.... relatively small. Compared to some others it's pretty good on size.

In a nutshell it is. It was based of the atheist writers series of childrens books.Stereo wrote:Isn't that a kids' movie?

Heath Ledger Found Dead
23rd Jan 2008
Ledger was found dead in his fourth-floor apartment at 421 Broome Street in the SoHo neighborhood of New York City on January 22, 2008. He was found at 3:26 p.m. EST by a housekeeper and a massage therapist, who entered the bedroom to find him face down, naked, and unconscious at the foot of his bed with sleeping pills on a nearby night table. Police said that they also found prescription medication in the bathroom and that there were "no obvious signs" of suicide, nor did they suspect foul play. Ledger was also said to be suffering from pneumonia at the time of his death.
On January 23, 2008 Ledger's parents and sister—who learned of his death from a radio broadcast—appeared outside Ledger's mother's house in Applecross, a riverside Perth suburb, and read a short statement to the media:
“ "We, Heath's family, confirm the very tragic, untimely and accidental passing of our dearly loved son, brother and doting father of Matilda, who was found in a peaceful sleep in his New York apartment by his housekeeper at 3:30pm [New York Time]. We would like to thank our friends and everyone around the world for their kind wishes at this time. Heath has touched so many people on so many different levels during his short life, but few had the pleasure to truly know him. He was a down-to-earth, generous, kind-hearted, life-loving and unselfish individual who was an extreme inspiration to many. Please now respect our family's need to grieve and come to terms with our loss privately.â€
In reaction to his death, former partner Michelle Williams was reported as saying that she was "devastated" at the loss and had boarded a plane to New York City. Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd released a statement saying, "It was with great sadness that I have learned of the passing of Heath Ledger... It is tragic that we have lost one of our nation's finest actors in the prime of his life."

Hmm.. Would any of you consider 80kg or for other people in different states 176lbs fat or chubby? need opinions.
I used a converter for the lbs so it might be incorrect.

Re: Just want to talk? Come here.
Depends on the height to weight ratio, for example, i'm 5"11 @ 179lbs (not bad but could be better) and there isn't a lot of fat there but it's there. And what do you reckon my Celeron D with stock speeds of 3.33GHz could hit on OC average?

That's for you to look up and find out.S2000_Skyline12 wrote:And what do you reckon my Celeron D with stock speeds of 3.33GHz could hit on OC average?
I'm just going with a safe average of 1Ghz improvement as compared to the ridiculous from 3 to 5 GHz or 1.86 to 4 GHz OC settings.

Re: Just want to talk? Come here.
tbh then 9700 model of Zalman is way too heavy, rather go with 9500 one and loose maybe....15% in overall cooling effect, if your planning to really go into overclocking dont bother with huge fans, go with liquid cooling.

Re: Just want to talk? Come here.
Granted it does weigh 1.684307 lbs (764g) however my computer has an Intel processor and an Intel board and the 9700 has more supports for those than it does for an AMD proc.Abrams wrote:tbh then 9700 model of Zalman is way too heavy, rather go with 9500 one and loose maybe....15% in overall cooling effect,
Click on "Installation Movie" to see the supports for both Intel and AMD.

1. Can't afford to loose a ton of space that liquid cooling units take up
2. Can't afford a system that expensive. I found some with $200+ price tags. I'd rather get something that got awards for being small, low cost, and very effective.
Re: Just want to talk? Come here.
I am a shade over 6' (183cm) and not even 140lbs (~63kg). Would it be fair to say that I have less fat than either of you?S2000_Skyline12 wrote:Haha, ahh i'm comfortable with myself, it's no harm donerace_invader wrote:Cool! except makes me feel like a meanie since you said that i have less fat then you.
