The New/Prototype/Concept Car Topic
Re: The New/Prototype/Concept Car Topic
The Toyota concept is a open version of the already existing Toyota Aygo.

There's an advantage to that. No kid is gonna be able to street race his buddies because of that limiter. It's a cool idea IMO.

There's also another disadvantage when you find an AWESOME straight stretch of road and just want to floor it to see how it flies. Or you happen to be on the Autobahns... And why does it have to be Nissan approved?
The wheels idea isn't too bad, that is if they had nicer rims put on them in the first place.

I don't have any Autobahns within 300 miles (as far as I'm aware) and I don't particularly like speeding.Koenigsegg_Rox wrote:There's also another disadvantage when you find an AWESOME straight stretch of road and just want to floor it to see how it flies. Or you happen to be on the Autobahns...

He will be, up to 111mph..Jopuma wrote:There's an advantage to that. No kid is gonna be able to street race his buddies because of that limiter. It's a cool idea IMO.
And that's a fairly high speed, especially when you hit a ditch and go flying off the road, snapping your GTR in 2 using a tree and at the same time turning your head into spaghetti bolognese due to the tree not being particularly fond of giving way.

Re: The New/Prototype/Concept Car Topic
but then you are our personal saint.Jopuma wrote: and I don't particularly like speeding.
Apart from that 111 mph is still very fast for the open road so plenty of speed left to floor it if you want to.
And because the GPS system only works in Japan the rest of the world doesn't have to worry about it.
Ooh and I really doubt that many streetracing kids will soon own a GTR

Re: The New/Prototype/Concept Car Topic
Well, they just threw the GT-R heritage out the window. I mean, the moddability of the Skyline is part of its legacy. Take that away, and it's another worthless, overpriced Infiniti, which this car came pretty close to being when they ditched the RB in favor of a V6. The R34 is the last good GT-R now.donaldgladden wrote:Anyone know about this?

I think the interior and roof are cool, but the rest = not too good. The newer Dodge styling ruins it for me.Jopuma wrote:Wow this Dodge Concept doesn't look too bad. What I like about it..... the color of course.
The rear end looks a tad like the BMW Z4.

Meh, it's Toyota, and they're selling out now. I don't care too much for Toyota's new cars, they're making them all into Prius clones now. lol, that one looks like a golf cart

Taiki = looks like the Furai, as stated before.
Only cool SUV I've ever seen. At that, SUVs are usually never cool. SUVs are probably the #1 cause of global warming. If it's electric, then it nullifies the disadvantage of it being an SUV and is cool again, although it's still not as cool as actual cars of any sort except hybrids. (EDIT: it looks more like a hatchback, which moves its ranking up and makes it cool UNLESS it's electric, which it isn't, as it says "Flex Fuel" on it. it's now cool.)Jopuma wrote: I saved the decent concept for last.

If you don't mind I'm gonna go cut my wrists now...after I crack my head open.
My ranking of all cars at this point:
Sports cars of any kind (including Australian utes, because they're cool, and even any non-sedan Civic Si) > electric cars ("sport" electric cars included, as well as electric SUVs. only rank here because they save the environment, which is only cool when a fairly well-performing car is not an option) > FWD I4 5-speed-or-worse consumer cars (including regular trucks and Civic sedans, and non-sedan Civics can fall into this category sometimes) > expensive luxury cars with performace not much better than consumer cars, or just way overpriced (Maserati, Bentley, most Lexus models, all Infiniti models included. Acura models not included) > hybrids (why bother? just make a full electric car) > smart cars > gasoline SUVs.

Re: The New/Prototype/Concept Car Topic
Well, 1 the RB was actually a V6 as far as I know for one, and two the new engine is partly based on one of Nissan's other fine cars, the 350Z. I still think that it will be winning races and in general kicking the @$$es of Porsches around a racetrack, but now that TheStig and such mention it it is still a pretty high speed that it's limited to. I still don't believe why it should be only Nissan approved circuits that the GPS limiter is deactivated though...RedCarDriver wrote:Well, they just threw the GT-R heritage out the window. Shows how much you know, then.Koenigsegg_Rox wrote:Well, 1 the RB was actually a V6 as far as I know
The RB is a straight six, and the current GTR V6 is a VQ(30DETT).
Re: The New/Prototype/Concept Car Topic
Yep, that thing about no modding the new GTR sucks pretty bad.
My favourite concept would have to be the Mazda Furai. It's one hell of a car, most notably the exterior.
My favourtie new car is the Koenigsegg CCXR Edition. In my opinion, it's the best car of all time...

oh snap
Re: The New/Prototype/Concept Car Topic
True the RB is a straight 6. (as are all RB engines ranging from 2.0 to 3.0)boganbusman wrote:Shows how much you know, then.Koenigsegg_Rox wrote:Well, 1 the RB was actually a V6 as far as I know

But the new GTR is not a VQ30DETT and it's not even a VQ series engine (the Skyline GTR racecar has a VQ30DETT)
the 08 GTR has a VR38DETT wich also is a V6 and not a straight 6 like the Skyline GTR's.

Not really, but it doesn't matter. What does matter is that the new GTR has an engine and it manages to accelerate...
