Re: The New/Prototype/Concept Car Topic
Couple of new Aussie concepts shown at AMS, in the form of the Holden Torana concept (which isn't actually new, but for the show it is) and the Holden Coupe 60. I must say that the Coupe 60 actually looks good despite it being basically a custom Common-w***e (goes against my religion, I know...).

Re: The New/Prototype/Concept Car Topic
Yep, saw that at the MMS (melbourne Motor Show), and it doesn't looks too bad at all... If fact, It could probably be a coupe version of the senator...
anyway, do you like ford?

Re: The New/Prototype/Concept Car Topic
I don't like either ford or holden but out of the two, I like ford better.

Re: The New/Prototype/Concept Car Topic
why don't you like them? Is there any sense of patriotism inside you? I know there isn't any inside me, as the only thing I liked about be country of birth was the food...
BUT, I do like holden. The cars they make aren't bad for (in comparison to some other companies) such a small make.

Re: The New/Prototype/Concept Car Topic
When you consider that Holden is part of GM, it is NOT a small make.
And I do have patriotism in terms of cars, in the form of the Carbontech Redback Spyder and Joss Supercar.

Re: The New/Prototype/Concept Car Topic
ah, i suppose you have a point with GM&Holden. But if it wasn't part of GM, would you like it?

If it wasn't part of GM it would move up from Absolute Hatred to "Meh"

Re: The New/Prototype/Concept Car Topic
No, my main problem with Holden is the fact that because they are Australian built, everybody fusses over them, when there are European manufacturers that do things 10 times better.

Re: The New/Prototype/Concept Car Topic
Not exactly a concept, but it is new. But is it just me or is this car fricken beautiful!

Re: The New/Prototype/Concept Car Topic
Seen the 8C before (in TDU) but it still looks sweet. And no, I don't think the wheels are photoshopped - that's what 8C wheels normally look like.
The 8C is one of the nicest looking NEW cars. Almost all cars made past maybe 2003 look pretty bad (with the exceptions of the Noble M15, the 8C, and maybe a few others - the new "GT-R" looks okay but not that great).

Better get used to seeing it in pictures though...
All 500 have already been sold. Sad but true.

Re: The New/Prototype/Concept Car Topic
That is correct. Besides, the wheels that are shown are the ones of the concept. Other wheels will actually by used-http://www.seriouswheels.com/2006/2006- ... 24x768.htm

Re: The New/Prototype/Concept Car Topic
Old news really, This is the article from Wheels April 2008 (which means it was released last month just so you know):
Yes I did repeat some of the stuff from bogan's link, but it does answer a few other questions based on price and engine specs.Wheels magazine wrote:Japan's auto industry has been buzzing for months over whispers that Toyota and Subaru will co-develop a small rear-drive sports coupe. Now, insiders have confirmed it's on track and could be on streets as early as 2010. But here's the twist: rather than Toyota providing the key components, the new car will feature an Impreza based 2.0 flat-four (which we already know). Power outputs are tipped to range between 132kW and 147kW. The current plan is for two mechanically identical sports cars: one for Toyota, one for Subaru. And while Toyota is heading up the engineering development, Subaru looks set to manufacture both vehicles in their Japanese factories.
In terms of design, what is evident is that Subaru continues to explore design themes first introduced with the B11-S Concept from 2003. For Toyota, the new model could be the long-talked about spiritual successor to the AE86 Corolla (which I don't know about you, but I really want that). Without an MR2 or Supra replacement in the portfolio, Toyota wants to produce something new and funky to attract Japan's young Gen Y, considering Nissan is reportedly working on a Silvia/200SX replacement. Toyota's purchase of an 8.7% stake in Fuji Heavy Industries has given them new impetus for the AE86 project, along with the boxer engine in which they have shown admiration for its unique sound and lower centre of gravity.
As for Subaru, rear-drive is far removed from their brand position based on the symmetrical AWD system, but despite showing keen interest in the segment in the form of the B11-S and B9 Scrambler concepts, they don't have anything at this end of the market.
Apparently there will be three spec-levels, with supposed Japan pricing starting at AU$21,000 (you can work out how much in US) which will make some stiff competition for the Mazda MX5. Production will most likely begin in 2010.

Re: The New/Prototype/Concept Car Topic
a AE86/200SX replacement would definately be good...
that means that when I grow up I could get one!

Re: The New/Prototype/Concept Car Topic
Since when Toyota is building 200SX? That sports car will replace either Celica either Supra. It would be cool if we have a RWD Celica again .. it would be much better for a new Supra.

Re: The New/Prototype/Concept Car Topic
I meant a new 200SX AND AE86. I didn't say they were both by Toyota.
Note Koenigsegg's quote-

Re: The New/Prototype/Concept Car Topic
True, there are some speculations about a 200sx replacement.

Re: The New/Prototype/Concept Car Topic
Saw a commercial for the new BMW X6 when I was out at lunch. That thing looks bloody fantastic!
I... I think I'm in love.

Re: The New/Prototype/Concept Car Topic
X6? IMO it looks like a SUV with the rear roof-section sawn off and replaced by one from a coupe...
(that means IMO it looks weird)
This is one recent concept I like (not really recent, but nevertheless) Audi R8 V12 TDi.
And another really old one-Maserati birdcage concept
Here's just a random question-what's the biggest displacement engine available on a showroom-standard car?(not truck)
