I'm looking to build a gaming desktop to supplement my T61p, and the ASUS EN9600GT is the graphics card that I'm considering, because of the bang-for-buck of the 9600GT and reliability of ASUS.....I'm a bit confused about the card's fan/single-slot cooler though...
I read the review on CNET, and the reviewed card had a single-slot cooler very much like that of the 8800GT...a slim, quiet, effective solution for heat dissipation, that would fit in an NZXT Apollo case with two cards in SLI....However, when I checked newegg, it was an open-card with a full-fan cooler...which wouldn't fit the case in SLI, would block two PCI slots on the motherboard, and would make my case much louder. When I checked on other sites, they listed only 9600GT models with a standard single-slot cooler...
Is this a special model from ASUS, and does it come with both coolers, or would I have to purchase from another site?

Yeah, I think the single-slot is a special edition card. I was reading about it. I'm not sure, but I think it might only be sold in Korea, China, etc.
