Rizur wrote:Maybe the highway battle is sort of a speedtrap... Or its just like speed challenge in ProStreet. Or it could be same sort of a drag style thing as MW has... but I dont think so.
And im thinking how is the canyon races will bve like... Same like in Carbon? Gain score how close/far you are from your opponent?
Like Prince1142003 said, still too many questions with no answers
Highway battle is actually a drive on the highway against heavy traffic and a single opponent. The key is to be first after a given amount of time (usually less than 2min) or to get more than a certain amount of distance between your opponent. Did I forget to mention that in the preview?

Are you able to answer my question regarding weather effects, Bojan?

I saw the gameplay on GC 2008. A guy crashed into traffic and it seemed like highway battle. Anyway at the end the camera looks the car at the front and you can see the damage. Nothing more advanced than ProStreet I'm afraid.

Looks like they're experimenting. NFS PS: no cops, no free roam, no real story. Undercover: cops again, free roam back, a big story... Afaik NFS PS was not very liked by the players (but imo it was one of the best NFSs), so they're trying something new.

I read somewhere that Prostreet gave EA the chance to improve the visuals because creating racetracks is easier than creating an open world. Now that they have improved it(remember smoke effects etc) they can put them easier in an open world game. Don't foget that every year, these guys become better and better. Videogames is something tha changes all the time!

The smoke was THE hype for Pro Street, EA made it look like it was the revolution in racing games.
Sure it was better then before but still not like in real life (you still can't make huge amounts of smoke... completely block the view kind of smoke)
Just like in Carbon where they let us believe that Autosculp was the best thing since sliced bread.

lol...

Nah, what I wanted to know is how the car managed to escape with just a dented bumper after it crashed into several cars at high speed???

About so called "revolutions" in gaming, what do you think EA will have us believe for NFS Undercover?
oh snap

CHECK THIS OUT

See, instead of the typically lame "EA Trax" nonsense from most of the games, here they're trying something different. Musical samples will cue up in time to key events, as we saw during the time one of the guys failed that stolen cop mission. As the cops came around to cuff the character the music spooled out some Nine Inch Nails in time with it... it worked beautifully. Instead of wall-to-wall music you've got pieces that fit with the moment and try to make it more cinematic. Besides that each game mode will have its own specific sound. Highway Battle contains tribal drumming, one that made things pretty damn intense as you ducked and weaved between traffic. They actually hired two of Danny Elfman's percussionists to work their magic here and the relentless pounding really makes the mode that much more exciting.

What? No EA trax??? :( OK, some songs were awful but I really liked EA trax. It helped me know more artists and make my itunes library bigger(I download the songs I like). Hope it has custom soundtracks. One reason I did not like Carbon much was the interactive music that came with racing. They had Goldfrapp, Tiga and the didn't use it!!!
PLEASE bring back EA trax!!!

What's your opinion?
