Ask Undercover producers questions about the game

Post by Bojan »

As the title says, we'll have a chance to ask Undercover producers questions about the game. We have about two days to make a list of the questions.

I've got a few questions I was planning to send, let me know which other questions would you like me to send.
- visual customization
Are there really separate bumpers/sideskirts + bodykits available?
No aftermarket parts, right?
Hatchback spoilers?
CF and nonCF parts?
- performance tuning
Wind tunnel is back?
How many different tunable options compared to ProStreet?
Any way to easily tune the car from ingame?
- cars
I know I can't ask about the number and which cars, but are there the usual groups (tuner, muscle, exotic)?
Any european tuner cars (a yes or no will suffice)?
A Fiat Punto head to head vs. Carrera GT?
- career
Approximatly how long?
Any alternate routes and/or multiple endings?

to answer the last question, even though personally I've never heard of her, Maggie Q is going to be in UC.

As for me, I have a couple of questions myself:

-Are the bodykits going to be any different from what we've seen in PS and Carbon, if so good cause the bks in those last two were shiznit.

-Is the progression going to be like the modern NFS' (ie. boroughs/tiers) or like other free roam games eg. Burnout Paradise where the whole map is unlocked from the start?

  1. Is the water splashing effect noticed in screenshots in the final game?
    Example:
    water_splash.jpg
  2. If there is water splash effect, does it change if the road is dry?
    Example:
    dirt_dust.jpg
  3. How deep is the performance tuning (U2, ProStreet, or somewhere in between)?
  4. Is there a cash based system for vehicles and parts?
  5. Are there locked vehicles at the start of the game, or is everything unlocked and available?
  6. Is there a be-the-cop mode?
  7. Is there a My Cars section where we can customize cars outside of career?
  8. Is there an AI catch-up feature?
I think that's it for now.

  • Are the roads going to be arranged in a sort-of loop, like MW was, so that cop chases flow much better, or like Carbon, where you were dead once you got to the end of the highway?
  • Are we getting new cop car models and speech, or will they be recycled from Carbon/MW?
  • Are the BMWs going to be strangely immune to having smashed windows (if they're present at all)?
  • Can I has free gamez?

Did you get inspiration for Highway battle from a game called Tokyo Xtreme Racer?
Approximately how many cars are in the game?
Will there be huge amount of traffic in the game?
Will there be any add-ons features like Burnout Paradise has(the new island ect.)?

From their descriptions, highway battles are more racing-through-traffic type things as opposed to the SP battles from TXR. But they could be lying. Remember autosculpt?

- Will we get a finished game this time or do we have to pay insane amounts of money to get a bit extra (and not get a decent patch)
- Will the storyline be as lame as that of Carbon?
- Is there anything that isn't recycled from previous NFS games.

oops, sorry if these aren't the questions that should be asked.... but I would like a answer
But then I think there should be the ability to ask non fanboy questions about stuff that was wrong with previous installments, and specificly stuff like half finished games etc. altough I did have much problems with PS on the 360 apart from some minor glitches.

Will there be anything to do in single player after you beat the game? Things such as easter eggs or nice sights.
Will there be more interior places to drive to, like parking lots to hide from the police?
When being chased by the police, when you move up a heat level (if there's even a heat level), will the police all be driving the same car or will you mix it up with say, tier 1 regular patrol cars and some pursuit vehicles?

Mine (may come up with more):

- Besides the "Heroic Driving Engine" answer, can you give us a more in-depth idea of how the physics engine will work? Is it closer to Underground 2 and Porsche Unleashed (most realistic end of the spectrum IMO, feel free to disagree) or Most Wanted / Carbon (more arcade-y but still fun)? Do RWD cars have torque-oversteer and can they drift? (not asking about "drift mode", just if they can somewhat believably drift in normal mode like in UG2)

- Can you give us a rough idea of the Japanese-muscle-exotic spread this time around?

- Will exotics be as tunable as the Japanese cars this time?

- Will the tuning be as in-depth as Underground 2 (and ProStreet / Carbon's vinyl system) or more like Most Wanted?

- Will there be more body kits than in ProStreet?

- Will there be a My Cars mode and a Quick Race mode this time around? (both were annoyingly left out in ProStreet)

- Are you keeping ANY aspects of online mode introduced in Carbon and ProStreet?

- (a more positive re-statement of TheStig's questions) Do you feel that having a better work schedule will allow the programmers to work out the kinks better than in the previous two years? Will there be better support for the games than the last two?

- Will there be downloadable content? (honestly, the answer I'm hoping for is no, unless the game itself contains a decent amount of cars and stuff, and that the downloadable content will be released equally for all platforms this time around)

- Rather important one: Is the rather infamous DRM scheme implemented in Spore going to be included in Undercover?

- REALLY important one: Will the game support XP?

@ EA producers: Thank you for your time, although the past two games have been criticized somewhat, your effort is evident and it is good to see that you are finally slowing down the game production cycle - it will hopefully lead to a more bug-free and overall more satisfying game.

Will the game offer classic control schemes like NFS Carbon? Example on PS3- X to accelerate, Square to brake/reverse, shoulder/trigger buttons to shift with manual, etc.

me neither but I can't remember what I did yesterday...

Questions
Will anyone be playing it on 360? I want to play with people I "know" because most of my friends play shooters...
