Spore isn't sold out in Western Australia.. Plus Ebgames hinds copy's, cause i asked if they had any and they said they are sold out. Then one of the store people pointed to a different game and said "Come in the back room" And what you know! A crap load of copy's still. Thats how i got mine 2 days ago. I think though they let me in the back cause they know me... Im there every weekend..
Walmart got copies in today... you have no idea how close I was to buying it. Actually, I'm still really close to buying it, despite the money I owe people.
(Cell phone bill, and I have to pay for that new monitor...)

I was getting the same thing, and I am pretty sure its Securom. It searches for programs like daemon tools, and other programs that mount cd's/dvd's. It will not allow you to install the game unless you are free and clear of those. I unplugged the drive that it was installed on and it loaded up just fine.
FINALLY BOUGHT IT!!!
Galactic Edition is only $20 (~$15 USD [i think...]) more expensive than normal edition in Australia, so i bought galactic instead...
Only problem is it doesn't work...
When i load it, sporeapp runs, screen goes totally black with windows loading cursor for about 5 seconds (cursor not animating,) screen goes to picture of my desktop background with no taskbar or icons for about 5 seconds, and finally, black part of screen in top right corner shows spore cursor and then comes up with 'send error report.'
And it's got me confused...
PLEASE HELP!!!

Hard to say without any info.
I myself got bored with the game within a week.
I played it like crazy for 5-6 days and haven't touched it since.
It's just too repetetive.
Waiting for that Fallout 3 to hit the stores...
I just bought the game as well, and it's mostly fun but I was a bit disappointed when I finally reached Space. It's kinda hard to navigate and it gets pretty tricky to manage all your colonies and friends and foes and spice etc . . .
The graphics are sucky, yet it still takes a while to load objects which is strange. Also the music is dire, and as Pabl0z pointed out it gets a bit repetetive.
So I guess the game is worth playing, but not worth the $80 I paid for it. No way.
um... well, not really, you get a poster, a 'the making of' dvd, a awesome box, a book with all the concept art, and a manual. lol.

Remember when all games came with the huge booklets called manuals? Made for a good read on the pot..
