i run the game on max settings ( anti-aliasing 8xaa ) game runs very good

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0Ghz, 2GB RAM and XFX 9600GT 512MB DDR3
1024 x 1280, AA 2x and everything else at the highest possible. The game runs perfectly. I can put AA 8x, but the framerate tends to be lower than I want on a racing game (30 FPS). I prefer to play with 40/45 FPS and less AA.
Intel C2D E7300 @ 2.6Ghz , 4GB RAM, Geforce 9800GT 512 MB DDR3
and i run the game very smoothly in 1024x768, Full AA (I think it was 8x) ,Anistropic 16x and everything else on high.
But I found 800x600 the same so just to lighten the load on GPU I changed to 800x600.
cuz on 1024 GPU's fan was on non-stop and it annoyed me a little.
I am amazed by the size of the screens most people appear to be running. 1024x768 and 1280x1024.. I thought those resolutions were long gone. I myself have been running 1680x1050 for half a decade now and have only recently (1 year ago) switched up to 1920x1080p on my 40" lcd.
If it wasn't because nVidia paid EA off to do their stuff in PhysX, my system would be more than enough to run this game at that resolution:
- C2D E4500 @ 2.2ghz
- 4 gb DDR2 Ram
- ATi HD4870 1gb
- Windows7 x64 Build 7100

^Apparently SMS/EA are at fault, rather than ATi, so unless they throw out a patch fixing these issues, we can't expect new drivers from ATi to fix the sloppy performance. I get the feeling that the entire physics engine is done in PhysX, so that probably means that they would need to rewrite the whole thing in order to fix it.. which.. is not going to happen.
AMD Phenom 9850BE
4GB DDR2 800mhz RAM
HIS Radeon HD 4890 1GB
Win 7 RC 7100 x64, Win 7 Ultimate x64, Win 7 Ultimate x86, XP x64, XP Pro x86 (Think that about covers it )
2.6TB HD space.
Oh and I get a consistent 65 FPS (max 75 due to monitor refresh rate for those who know about that sorta thing )
Why do you need to boot 5 OSs? I only see a need for XP 32bit and 7 x64 >_>
+ @Summ: Some people tend to have lower end PCs and just hang on to stuff. It wasn't until I went to a 9600GT that I went full HD. That being said... if you get a 9800 or GTX +, you should invest in a good screen nowdays.
ATM, I'm on a twin screen (17" [ ] + 22" [ ]) combined res of 3200x1080
I test a lot of software and hardware (computer techie by trade ) so I tend to need to check everything though I loath having Vista on my machine.
I have the capacity for 4 gfx cards, but my CPU would never be able to feed them! So if I feel the need to get another 4890 I'll just grab a 5870 as it's more than double a 4890 on it's own.
Need a new monitor though and that's next. Getting a 24" Samsung soon and pair that with a 19" 5:4 so I can use widescreen and normal for testing
What's wrong with Vista? =-S It's the fastest, most stable and most user friendly OS I've ever used. Mac OS was by far the worst =-P and Linux was half decent.
^Fastest. That's a joke, right? Both in terms of startup and any other benchmark you want to make, from application usage to gaming, Vista is a colossal beast to play around with. It is, by far, the slowest OS ms has ever produced. As for user-friendliness, I guess that's subjective.. it's nice to look at, but they moved a lot of key elements around from previous windows, which makes it an os you need to get used to. Add to that all the hardware and software incompatibility and microsoft really shot themselves in the leg with Vista. For all its niceties, Win7 is nothing more than a plug for all of Vista's faults.
Mac OS is a fine os for its purposes. 85% of the people in my office use it and it works flawlessly. No virusses, far faster than Vista and very decent for their use - Photoshop and the like.
Linux is a bit of a techie's system. Forget games and applications. The things that DO run on linux however, will practically never crash. It's the most lightweight and rock-stable os out there, which is why most servers run it.
Yeah, on my PC it's just at 60FPS the whole time. The monitor won't display higher. Did you try it on the different OSs? How does 7 compare to XP?
Offtopic: Well startp is much faster than XP... it may take a little longer to get to the login screen, but I can start using it instantly... while I have to wait for XP to load all its processes, and then it's slow to open everything up and bah! It's not as quick to use. Vista benchmarks better because of the RAM being used properly. 64 bit XP might be quicker, but I haven't used it... and it has more software and hardware incompatibility and issues than Vista 64 bit. So it might possibly do an extra 2 FPS average over Vista in Crysis, but I haven't been able to compare nor will bother. All I know on my PC, Winrar & Crysis bench quicker.
About user friendliness... yes, it's different... but I've found it more convenient one you figure it out which only takes a few minutes -.- . Search is very quick too, I never bothered on XP because it took so long.
About the incompatibilities... the only thing I use XP for is to use my 5 year old scanner which they stopped supporting since before Vista came out. Not vista's fault. I couldn't run my older scanner on XP for the same reason.
About Mac, might've been the PCs I used it on, but it ran like a pig, lol. It felt like I was on my netbook with some of the load times. It does have viruses... A friend had a trojan. It's just that most people run a Windows boot and virus makers aim to hit the majority. I notice Mac is used a lot in Graphic Design and media... but I don't really know why considering the price of my PC vs. Similarly priced Macs with half the processing power. Adobe Soundbooth runs at real-time. There is no wait for playback of unfinished files. A 30 minute video encodes in about 3 minutes. I can't actually run MacOS on my PC with the lack of driver support though... but can someone tell me what the point of it is? I've been trying to work it out.
Linux is quick, reliable... but it's pretty much only for work. I just do engineering stuff on it at uni, but it can all be done on windows quite easily and I haven't used it since I got my netbook for uni.
Yeah, basically, try to get your resolution as high as possible... and textures as high as possible. Easy to do with a decent amount of lighting. Shadows and lighting usually give a good performance boost turned down as they can be quite intensive. AA is the last thing you put on as it kills performance.
If you have to, play it lowered, take pics on max.
GF 9800 GT 1GB Gigabyte
Core 2 Quad Q8200(2.33GHZ)
4GB RAM OCZ
Asus P5k Pro
all in game settings maxed , AA maxed, 1280x1024(max my monitor allows)75HZ(same)
runs 60 fps, rarely drops, the situations are: when im last on 16 car race and i can see all the cars on screen.
that happens only on Bugatti Veyron race(i know you all love it ) and races where everyone is given the same vehicle
I don't know about u guys, but I play it on Max... 1680x1650, 8xAA, Anistropic Texture Filtering, and everything else on High. And I still can't get the graphics that TRANSFORMER has... That's just killing me, he has the best GFX in Shift I've ever seen on NFSUnlimited...
