dude that seems way too good of a deal, because a 1997 TTsupra should cost around 30 grand, especially with the mileage, only 12 k plus its been tuned to 475hp. for some reason, i think there may be something wrong with this car because this is way to good of a deal... i know that its a supra, but u are only 16 and u dont want a super powerful car.... u dont want to abuse it and kill urself, especially since its a powerful rear wheel drive... for 8 grand, its a bargain, but make sure u check it out before you buy it, like have it inspected at a toyota dealership or something.... there could be easily something wrong with it... Supras are usually raced, so this car could have been greatly abused... just my 2 cents

when you are 16 you really can't drive that well... yes you can have a licence.. but that doesn't mean SH*T....

I'm a driving instructor wich many of you guys know... and I also learn every day... I am a above avarage driver but that doesn't mean I am a good driver...
I got several extra trainings also with more powerfull RWD and AWD cars... but I would be really cautious with a 475 bhp RWD car.

I see KIDS who think they can drive every day in my car... and they are 2 years older cause the legal age to take driving lessons is 18... and as soon as they have they licence they think they can drive!!

And that's what simply kills most IGNORANCE!

IMO get a fairly small FWD car... and slowly build it up...

and practice with you dad firechicken

DrewBoi, you can't say you have experience. You are damned 16, and you are looking for a Supra?

Dream on, it's only going to be your trip to death.

If you can drive a Firebird, then it doesn't mean you can handle a Supra.

Like VPNeverLoser, 13, and driving already.

He wants to go faster, but it'll only be him vs tree.

I really wouldn't buy that Supra.

Do you realize '12,040' miles is actually NOTHING for a car? They can reach 175.000+. And it's a Supra. Finding a Supra for that price and that mileage is just a dream that ends in happyness or mad faces.

damn!!! every1 thinks just that i'm 16 means i cant drive.... i am not being cocky or anything but i can drive a car.... "If you have the need for speed just play underground" i am not that stoopid to think that i cna handle the supra but i will get it when i turn 18 so i will hopefully be able to drive better than i can now.... its like you dont want me to have the car..... oh yea on the idea of the fwd thing, my friend wants to sell his chevy aveo for 8,000.... i could buy that.... NOT!!!!

I just get a bit sick of kids (yes you are one!) who say the can drive a car...yes you probably know how it works... steering and shifting... if you don't have a automatic etc....but that does not mean you have the experience and that you can fastly adapt to things around you... other traffic and road hazards... you have to drive thousends of miles (100.000+)before that is developed!

I work with young guys every day.. loads of fun... but I already lost 1 ex student... who thought he could drive aftrer he got his license and he thought you could drive trough a tree... he could not tell if it was possible

Understand why I can get a little sick of yough people say they can drive?

yea i get what you are saying but geeze, i understand that u are a driving instructor and all but you dont know me and i dont know you so we cant really comment on each others's skill and what not....

You don't need to know somebody to know that. It's just that thinking about a 16 year old guy driving a Supra.. And saying that he can handle a Supra etc..

I never got mad at you in person....

I only said that I advise you to take a light (weight) fWD car...and later on get a more powerfull car... you get better when your experience grows...

so don't get me wrong...

(and I never said you are a bad driver... maybe it looks like that but the only thing what I mean is... it takes some time... a year or 2 to become a "good" driver.)

I said "good" simply because I learned at my advanced driving training that none of us where good drivers... but we where there to become one!... extra skid courses and driving highperformance cars.. and trackracing... and when you do that... you find out that even with a few years of driving.... It's is damn hard to recover a high powered RWD car on a skidcourse when you are sliding all over the place...

ok now i kinda understand you but i think i might go to a driving school too. but i have to be 20 to enter... but the things wrong with the supra i just learned is that its gonna need a new tranny, new exaust manifolds and tires. but bassically that is all that is wrong with it except for the cars was illigally street raced a few times.

not a bad move... if you really want to have (maybe later on) such a car... a bit of help from a pro never hurts...

Yo drew these ppl are right. You should try gettin a small FWD car. The Supra is a hell of a thing to drive. Even stock Supras r hard to handle. The first time i drove a Supra (It was my friends, i needed it to pick up somethin. I was 19 btw) I almost wrapped it around a tree. I was being real cocky and i flat footed it when the traffic light went green and the thing fishtailed like crazy and i stopped pretty close to the tree. I was very lucky! Take the advice from an experienced driver and buy a small FWD car. OR u could buy the Supra and stick it in a warehouse for a couple of years ;)

Alright, I know Ive ''left'' and all, but I was just browsing through and thought I had to reply to this.

Ive been fixing and driving cars since I was 10 years old. My older brother, who is 7 years older than me, taught me everything I needed to know about driving and maintaining a car. By the time I was 13, I could strip down an engine block on a Vauxhall frontera by myself.

I hit 17, got my licence, bought a civic. It was only a 1.3i EG. I kept this car until I was 19. I planned on getting a Supra at that age, but couldnt get insured. I too wanted the big RWD bhp that a Supra brings, and I knew, with my 9 years driving experience, that I could handle it. After the insurance rejection, I bought a Celica GT4 ST205. No where near the power a Supra has, and its AWD, so much easier to handle. I had the car for 3 days and I spun it, taking a corner far too hard.

For all my experience, all my knowledge, I nearly crashed the car. Only now do i realise that at 19, I wasnt mature enough to handle a Supra. To be quite honest, I dont think I was mature enough for an RX7 at 21, and barely mature enough for my car now.

Close to 25 years old, and I only just think I have the right frame of mind to drive one of these cars. Thats with 15 years experience behind me. That experience includes drag racing, track racing, and drifting.

Sit back and think about it. What experience do you have? How would you react when your car suddenly loses traction and youre facing the hedge at the side of the road? Heres a clue, no amount of braking will stop you when youre going sideways, and the Supra goes sideways very, very easily.

Think about the power, 475bhp is BPU+ spec. I am currently running less than 400bhp, and I find the car a handful. I still find the car a handful, and Ive had it for over a year, driving it more or less every day.

Youre right, I dont know you personally. I cant say for certain what skills you have or dont have, how mature you are, or how likely youll be to buckle under the fear of going sideways. What I do know is this. When I was at college, my friends dad had an E36 M3. One day, my friend took the car for a drive, with his dads permission mind. He was 18 years old, and a very good driver. (He used to help me and my brother when we messed about with his car, so he had a few years experience behind him too). He got 4 miles away. Red light, he accelerates slowly away. All we see from the car behind is the M3 slide across the central reserve, across the other lane of traffic, and down a ditch. He was very lucky not to have been killed.

By all means, buy the Supra, ignore our advice. But remember it on that fateful day when youre in a stretcher by the side of the road, watching whats left of your car being towed away.

If you want RWD fun, buy a 240sx, or an AE86. Still good, fun cars, still potentially fatal. But youre less likely to crash and die in one of those than a Supra.

ok this is getting out of hand.... i cant say that im a good driver or a bad 1. all i know is that i am NOT going to have the car until i am 18 and by then i will learn how to handle the car better than i do now. I underastand whre you come from grez, with the experience and all but i have had experience tooo.... it is as though you people dont want me to have the car..... but you know what, i will take into consideration of all of the sad stories you have to tell truth or not. No offence but i think that i will be able to drive a car like a well mannered person.... i can also take advice from my dad which has been driveing race cars for a while so yea thnx for everyone's comments but i will have the car when i turn 18... like it or not.

i have been looking around alot for other cars other than this supra and i am sad to say that i cant really find anything else to drive. i do like the 300zx or the 249sx but i cant really see myself driving a car that my brother,my best friend and his sister drive... it is too common around where i live to see a 240sx or a 300zx and i havent see 1 supra her since i moved here. I like to add diversity to the cars around here and there is a car show comingup in a week so my dad and i will enter our supra, f-body and our old charger...

It's not that I don't like you to have a Supra, it's just that a 18 year old person isn't supposed to drive a Japanese monster like that.

saying that a 18 year old isnt supposed to drive a supra is kinda wierd. I really like the car and my dad bought it so i guess i will get the car soon and if my grades keep up.
