Gamespy Interview with Justin Weibe

Post by MikeFarrar »

Gamespy has posted an interview with the Associate Producer of Need for Speed Underground 2, Justin Weibe. They discuss about the tuner culture and the open world of NFSU2. Read it here
Here are a couple of juicy bits which i've picked out.
Rachel is Samantha's cousin (for those that don't know Samantha was the main character from Underground 1)
Hehe, now we know why Rachel is helping us, it must run in the family!
We will also be diving a bit deeper into the domestic cars by introducing the 2005 Ford Mustang GT and Pontiac GTO, as well as a few others that must remain unnamed for the moment.
We can expect more Muscle Cars to come so all u V8 fans out there can rejoice! :D

The Race Breaker is designed to award players that drive with style in races. Players that power slide through a corner rather than taking a more technical approach will be awarded with extra Nitrous, helping them catch back up to the other racers.
I don't understand. If EA wanted to get rid off the people sliding against the walls then why didn't they just add damage that affects the cars performance. That way, the good driver's will be awarded to win the race.

I think they mean urban exotics with that... if i'm not mistaken you see when u put the cursor on 'customise ride' in nfs u1: 'built your ultimate urban exotic' or something like that...
I don't expect porches or anything like that

I said so called as in they call them exotics. And never know EA. They could even add porche or ferraris.

If Rachel is Samantha's cousin, I wonder if Kelly Brook's character is Melissa's cousin. If that was true, that would make for a GREAT story for NFSU3... hehehe

Not everyone will be someone's cousin... Maybe sisters or brothers. Image

All of this cousins and sisters talk is getting a bit wierd . . .

I'm glad they have got V8's, perhaps it won't be too ricey afterall.

But I don't like the thing where retarded drivers get rewarded for sliding, instead of driving properly, it's stupid. :?

Ok ok i read and i liked it, as for the type of drivers i'd say i'm a split between kamikaze adn technical driver, i mainly use my gear to cut down speed cuz thats what i'm used to but i'm know realising that slowing down or lettin up off the gas can yeild better results. I try not to bounce off wall and though i like dodging cars, i'll take the oncoming traffic road just for the thrill plus its shorter, but i'm a gear person more than using brakes but as i said i'm becoming more technical in my nfsu driving.

The review was very informative, Samantha cousin, i hope their too much relatives lnking from the old version.

Now the freedom aspects sounds even more promising, i know what i'm gonna do after i leave the airport in nfsu2, haha

one little thing I don't get

If I am not mistaken the Pontiac GTO uses a Pushrod V8.

and in a movie I seen one driving 180 MPH at 8000 RPM.... I never seen a pushrod car push 8000 RPM. cause your pushrods will end up in your hood...

yes you're right.

It has an LS1 Generation III V8. It's very old and has old technology. And it can't make more power than about 350kW.

yeah true and I'm not saying it is a bad engine, cause it has lots of HP at a lower RPM, while new jap cars have it at high RPM....

and that is why I said... Hmm 8.000...

But . . .

a pushrod racing engine CAN do 8000 rpm.

V8 Supercars (in Aus) have 5.0L 2-valve pushrod V8's. Max power is about 635hp and it can rev to 8000rpm.

But there is no way you could do that with an LS1.
