I have never been able ro drift, except with some cars with specific tires. I am a performance driver anyway. I prefer doing hotlap or multiple laps OLR instead of drifting, even with my wheel.

I started out with grip driving but I damn sucked.
I can't go fast unless I drift, drifting can be fast if done right, but most people thinks drift is just sliding the car, you got to pay attention to the exit angle, it decides most of the outcome of the drift.
You go to severe on it so that you have to spend a lot of time counter steering to straighten out the car, you just slided and didn't really do a fast drift.

I recommend starting out with a 4WD car in GT2.
As for GT3 a FR is the best starter car and then move on to 4WD.

The best starter drifter in GT2 is the Lancer Evo series, they are very stable with a lot of horsepower and fairly easy to control, I recommend the Evo 6.

The RX-7 in GT3 is a nice drifter, the type RZ and RS are good stock, but needs proper tuning of suspension and grip settings when you start upping the HP beyond 300.
Due to the high probability of a power over in a drift followed by a spinout.
