Err, welcome to the forums you two!

FYI, you can't download, nor add any cars into the game. It's either you get the European version (which has 106 & Corsa), or the US version (RSX & Civic). If I were you, and I have the US version of the game and I want to have the Corsa & 106 or vice-versa, I'd buy both versions of the game.

Has there ever been an EA official statement as in why they went brain dead and gave 2 different cars to 2 different games? And if I was american, i'd feel cheated - I got the same 2 cars that were included in previous game. If i'm european (i am) i feel puzzled by the fact that the cars that used to be in the game before, are taken out at the expense of 2 little hatchbacks.

Is it the limitation of the engine that won't allow more cars (or it won't fit into 2 disks if they included extra car?) really wierd...

Ok but, who really wants to drive a corsa or the 106?? if i want to drive peugeot, iÂ´ll take the 206 and i donÂ´t like vauxhall/opel so i wonÂ´t drive it anyway

I agree, that this 2 version thing is a shame for such a great game developer like EA, but i think that the us-version is a little bit better equipped with the hondaÂ´s, than the european version with itÂ´s two new shopping bags

I would like to have a nfsu2 with all the cars.... 106, corsa, civic, and rsx.....and all the others too ( of course) .
But I don't have money to buy the game

If I had lots of money.... I would buy the two versions.... But I am not rich.....

Erm, I've got both versions. I bought the European version online, but got bored of waiting for it to turn up, so have borrowed the US version to pass the time (which I am going to complete, then wipe it and install the Euro version.) I intend to complete the Euro version with the Corsa, because, despite other people's negative attitudes to GM, they make excellent cars IMHO (I've owned and driven enough of them!)

However, I have to admit that I have fallen in love with a car that I hated when it first came out in real life. The Audi TT (best car I've unlocked so far, but am looking forward to the Monaro/GTO). Those 4 wheel drifts are soooo cool.

I think I will contact our EA Rep. and ask why etc, cause if I get my version it will most likely be a US version wich means I can't play with my friends

but which is the file where the list of the cars is written? speed.exe?
and then it owes us to be a code in every car...
if he succeeds in modifying these things it is possible the modding (not online however)

it may be just the fact if you change the Car>Vinyl files...i would try swapping out folders and crap....but what are you guys talking bout...my game has that pigeon..or pugot or what ever that minivan is...

I bet it's probably just a registry hack & a few copied files away, EA's not smart enough to code different EXEs for different reigions. There was an R34 for the Japanese version of NFS3 or 4 that got ported to the other versions of the game pretty quickly after all.

Actually the exe IS coded differently.

I played an illegal US version while waiting for the game to be shipped in Europe, and I had the Civic and rsx.
then I buy the european version, I uninstall the US, install the european. Hell, the game refused to launch because of stupid cd/dvd emulation, which as I happen to find out later, was caused by cloneCD and not Deamon tool as i expected then. Well. So I downloaded a crack at the moment... since there weren't european crack yet I went for a US one and when I launched the game... Surprise! I had no 106, no Corsa, and I hadn't the Civic and RSX anymore too. Nice

Then I found about CloneCD and I put the original european exe back and so I get the 106 and Corsa at last...

What's more, European installation has NO civic or RSX directory, although US had. Us has no 106/Corsa, whereas European has.
But when you switch us and european exe you don't have any of the four cars anymore

So my guess is that YES, the cars ARE hardcoded directly in the speed2.exe... So unless a cracker make a universal exe, I don't think we 'common' people will be able to play all the four cars at once

By the way, saves are totally compatible. I was quite relieved when I saw it worked.... Well, I had no civic nor rsx, so I don't know what happens to those cars when you've got some.

I'm thinking that it might still be a matter of copying the files for the cars you don't have into the cars file and changing a registry setting- my bet's that the game has a registry entry that tells the EXE which reigional version to look for. Maybe something like

LoadEU=Yes or No
LoadUSA=Yes or No

The installer would set it automatically depending where the copy was sold. Of course, that's pretty optimistic and it could indeed be a matter of hex editing the EXE but it's not like it's impossible then either.
