i know i cant really rely on EA to bring out two good games in a row, but hye...who cares? its not that bad. all i have against the game is the really really sucky sountrack (almost all of it anyway). i turned almost every single song off until their is a music importer.

Hey, I'd like to see a Limo in Underground! huh, wait... No.

actually there are a lot of usual cars you could see in Underground... The chrysler PT cruiser could be fun (we even catch a glimpse of it in 2f2f), as well as cars from Citroen or even Renault (Don't know if those french brands are internationaly known ?). I think of the Xantia, the Xsara, C5, C3, or the Laguna. Peugeot also delivers some other nice cars like it's 206CC or the 406 designed by Pininfarera. 407 is quite nice too. I also think of the Opel Tigra. Well, I mostly think of european and especially French cars as I'm French myself ; but if they really wanted to put a lot of cars in their game they sure could have easily. Acquiring the licenses is probably not a major problem for EA, and when you know some of the citroen are used in rallies and subsequently in rally games, well... You can deduce that either they didn't get the idea to put more cars, or they were to lazy.

UrQuattro wrote: PARTLY realistic physics ? no they are not realisic at all. Just because a RWD car oversteer it doesn't make it PARTLY realistic. There is no touch with reality at all - because cars take insane jumps (even though they are supposedly running with adjustable downforce), the braking is unrealisticly quick, the grip is just something of a joke, and drafting is way overdone. But I'm not being picky, I accept that the game has no real physics at all, I just don't want others to get the illusion there is something realistic here - there isn't, simple as that.
ok ok man...i ASSUMED its partly realsitic...haha..didnt think i was going to offend you there..i get your point..i guess you can't classify it as realistic at all thens...

I've finally unlocked the Vauxhall Monaro/Pontiac GTO. And all I can say is, it WAS worth the wait. 240+ MPH on the Dyno can't be bad and I'm wiping the floor with all the AI opponents like water off a duck's back.

Unlocking the decent cars and getting them spiced up has taken this game from a 5/10 to a 8/10 for me. I'm actually finally starting to enjoy this marathon of a game.

Why only 8/10? Well, as I'm sure others have said, the negatives are as follows (IMHO):

1. The traffic cars are driven like an Austin Allegro by a 90 year old man - i.e. f***ing badly. They get in the way, and once you have hit them, they still make no attempt to move. They make no attempt to avoid a collision, in fact they seem to go out of their way to get in your way. My INSERT (Reset car) key is getting worn out.

2. Drag races suck bumbum even worse than NFSU1. You can be in the lead, all perfect shifts and suddenly hit an object or randomly placed oncoming car you never even saw, totalling your ride. And as for the lack of response when you hit the lane change key - drag races are random at best as far as I am concerned. I HATE them, but they should really be one of the best bits of the game.

3. The pearlescent paint options are badly done and there are not enough off them. I saw a Renault Megane Convertible in real life the other day which was Orange and Green pearlescent. This may sound gross, but it actually looks really nice IMHO - this option is not even available in the game. If you choose pearlescent paint, it also screws the colours of the vinyls on the car and they just look a mess. This was ALSO the case with NFSU1.

4. The AI is (and, as I'm not allowed to use the word we would use in the UK, i.e. "gay", I'll have to say...) CRAP. Have the programmers been talking to Michael "Cheating Bastard" Schumacher (sorry Schumi fans, but he robbed our Damon Hill of one F1 World Championship by cheating IMHO - I was perhaps Damon's Number 1 fan, and not least because he lives only about 15 miles away from me in Hambledon near Godalming) about how to win races? All they do is drive into the player, for God's sake.

5. And perhaps worst of all is the constant game slow downs, particularly if you do a doughnut/360 (which is damned easy in my Monaro/GTO. let me tell you).

6. Not enough cars. What's with just the one Vauxhall/Opel model (Corsa)? They should have had the Astra and Calibra as well. Two of the most popular tuners in the UK. Let alone all the other missing cars other people have mentioned. Still, if we mention it enough, maybe EA will take notice? HINT HINT EA... MORE CARS PLEASE in future games!!!

7. Oh, I nearly forgot - I can't get my cars to look as good as they did in NFSU1 for some reason, even though there are more options. Maybe it's just my lack of talent, but I still love the Hyundai GT V6 I made in NFSU1 which is in my signature. Each to their own, I guess

8. But, one thing that IS in NFSU2's favour - they've got perhaps the sexiest woman in the world in it (again IMHO) - Kelly Brook. Just a shame that its that crappy comic strip stylee - I'd love to see her in glorious 3D. Maybe they haven't done her in 3D because players would be too busy spanking the monkey to play the game? Erm, I'm not including myself amongst them, of course

After thinking this game would have knocked juice outta the water, prolly it wouldn't if Juiced had made the cut, the game first of all require too much interms of hardware requirement to run it sweetly, the shop idea is fun but can get annoying, the parts and upgrades are better this time around, the sounds are excellent for a game, the cut scenes are filt, the ones from nfsu1 were mucn better, the drag races are not as fast paced cuz of all the graphics filtering and crap, sprints are ok, circuits are long and track can get tedious with traffic and all, street X is kewl but get dragged out sumtimes, drifts are the kewlest this time around especially down hill, urls are too long in my opinion most times i almost fall asleep, outruns are kewl but in sum areas of the city it can take quite a while to win, i wish they tried that hard in other races, taffic is dumb, crowds are lame, the city is kelw though, overall 8.5/10, its a good game all in all, its fun.

I remember the good old days, when car games didn't have catch-up. I have been leading with 16 seconds, only to find the opposition up my bumbum seconds later. I played through most of the game with peaugot 106, Iam sure a lada would do the same job. It looks like the opposition cars are waiting for you if you are going slow. Iam missing the point why you should upgrade your car, because the faster you go, the faster the opposition is going. Drifts are fun though, since catch-up doesn't apply here.

Iam glad I only borrowed the game, because it took me about four hours to get bored of it.

I would appreciate it if car games with catch-up had a label on it that said so.

Just finished the game, now Im able to rate it....
Sorry about the grammatical mistakes and the lenght of my review :P

An authentic piece of crap Overall rating: 27%

Graphics: 6/10

-No difference with nfsu1
-Tons of weird effects, specially with lights. Improved motion blur.

Sounds: 9/10
-Amazing engine sounds, almost every car sounds different.. Good terrain (ground, stones, railways) effects.

Gameplay: 4/10
- TOO ARCADEY:
a) TRAFFIC CARS FLY WHEN CRASHING THEM AT 40KPH!
b) YOU CAN MAKE YOUR CAR GO 0-100KH IN 0.6 SECONDS!!!!
c) Drafting is OVERdone
d) N20 REFILLING

Conclussion: Too arcadey EVEN for an arcade game!!!

Storyline: 3/10
- Weird... the character of Kelly Brook is just unneccessary. The same with Caleb friends..... only appear 1time :? The nfsu1 storyline was really better, and Eddie looked way stronger than Caleb. The same with his group, the Eastsiderz... Rachel is ok. I really liked the comic thing, very nice.

-The carier is boring and repetitive. URL tournaments are just exhausting.

The city: 6/10
- It is big enough, but it isnt too realistic...
- Some roads are illogical
- There arent traffic lights, parked cars, ppl.... there is only 1bridge!

_______________________________________

OK Now im gonna rate the different race modes, and compare them with those in nfsu1 when available.

Circuit: 7/10
Nothing special... longer than those in nfsu1 which is good.

Sprint:
Sprints are more exciting now, specially when crossing several neighboorhoods

Drag: 2/10
Drag is way worse this year. Drag races are not straight any more (only the trains one). The lane-to-lane system was a crappy feature in nfsu1 but now is even worse: when you go to another lane, the car keeps "dancing" left and right and you crash many times because of that!!!

Drift:
The downhill is very good.
The stadium tracks are worse than nfsu1 drift tracks.

URL: 6/10
A good new kind of races. tracks could be better. I wonder why the hecks are there URL events in the airport. It is ok to celebrate quick, illegal races there, but not organizated, closed circuits (URLs) while the airport is running and a plane flies over you each 2minutes

Street X: 8/10
Exciting races. funny.

Time to talk about the different neighboorhoods:

Jackson Heights: 9/10
- I really like it.

Bacon Hill: 5/10
- Weird part of the city. Chaotic streets.

City Center: 8/10
- Well-made neighboorhood. Similar to nfsu1 environment.

Coal Carbor: 7/10
- My favorite zone because of the environment. Looks like a real life industrial city, but again: Illogical streets, and may be a bit small.

Airport: 4/10
Is this a neighboorhood? Too small! EA could have designed it better.

Customization

This is an important part so I used big words in the title. Yeah the game is about customization, it is the only interesting thing to do with the game due to racing is for "lego racers" as Summ say :D But no, customization is also a crap... some points:

- EA keep offering us imaginary (and ugly) body parts.
- Rims size can be chosen: The only good new feature!!! Oh, it seems someone used his brain for once!!
- Hatchbacks' special spoilers have gone. You know what I mean....
- Hood decals have also gone. And where is the Nitrous Xpress vinyl? shiznit!
- Painting: poor painting system again, only some dozens of pre-made colors. Juiced allows you to choose between the whole 16million colors.
- Body kits: Just ugly. Why??? Specially front bumpers, there are 15-20 but all them are ugly!!!! I only like Slipstream.
- Headlights: Is that difficult to make decent headlights???
- Rearlights: A bit better.... still too much to do.
- Side mirrors: nice...... compared with the rest of parts.

Conclussion: trillions of customization possibilities, but only 1k - 5k decent ones. (when choosing certain bumpers which are only two or three, certain decent rims which are only six-eight and then change the colors/decals)
__________________________________

Finally I want to make you remember some things EA said which are totally false:

- 5 neighboorhoods: No, there are 4. The airport doesnt count.
- Twice the number of visual parts.... LOL. False: mufflers are the same. Certain body parts like SlipStream are not available in all the cars. Twice vinyls??? I doubt it.
- When talking about wallriding, they answered in a review: "We are looking fwd to fix those issues". Wallriding is still there, it is even more effective this year.
- Damage model? "Yes" they said... Yes, actually there is damage: the windows thing. From now you need to be careful when reading EA's answers!!
- 200km of open roads!!!! Yeah may be true, using their imaginary metric system.... (See the pic)

EA meters.jpg
Cmon, the distance is about 20meters. May be even 30,,,, but no 50! No way!!

Well Actually! The airport isn't a neighborhood, it is a part of the city core! But Coal harbor is divided in East and West, that's why there are 5 neighborhoods! :D

i was really disappointed with the game, i know it is bigger and with more customisation than ug, but i finished the game feeling short changed, it just ended suddenly. I have the gamecube version and the graffics are cack, nowhere near as good as ug1 even, and there is no motion blur. NOT AS GOOD AS UG1----- REAL SHAME

well, perhaps Sparco's review is a bit "hard", but for the most part it's perfectly right...there are many points of disappointment I think, but also a good part of improvements, so it's ok for me....I thinked we would have more new stuff, so it's not a full rocking game compared to the 1st, but it's a good game the same...
...oh, I must go playing it now :D ,

yep he got a lot of point right there!

I think if they storyline was more gripping and original it would make the overall game ALOT better to play!.... now it was just getting boring after you unlocked all parts.... and had to race till you got the final race....and it was over....

I'll list off what I don't like about NFSU2. Anything not listed assume I like or tolerate.

1) No manual Camber adjustibility for front and rear wheel's.
This tick's me off to no end. After all this time they finaly add turning into an NFS again and they leave this out. What a kick in the balls.

2) Calling tire pressure 'grip' instead of plain old 'Tire Pressure'.
A stupid small thing, I know. But it still annoys me.

3) Star Rating is back with a vengance.
Again we're forced to crap out one of our car's in order to progress. Due to the new 10 Star rating system, we have to cram even more junk onto a vehicle than before.

4) Ahead one quarter Impulse power, Ensign.
Why does it look and feel like I'm going 70 MPH, but the Tach says 210 MPH? Trust me, it isn't my PC. The PS2, X-Box and Game Cube feel the same aswell.

5) Dyno does not accurately estimate top speed of the gear ratio's.
It's always off by 10 to 15 MPH faster than you can actualy hit before your tranny top's out.

6) Unique Preformance Parts.
The idea was useless before and it still is now. Again it just beg's to be exploited online. Alteast this time around Ranked cars cannot have them and are stored on EA servers to avoid tampering...

7) Axeing ALOT of the original's full body vynals. Including Unique's.
Now this REALLY pissed me off. EA stated in an interview that all the cars, parts and vynals that were in NFSU would be in NFSU 2 plus more. Oh look! They're not! Shock... The only one to survive is that lame skull and checkered flag. This also kills the ability to recreate most cars from NFSU due to the old body vynals being removed. I was also hoping to actualy use the few that were 'unusable' in the first one, such as the Samurai.

8) 2 car's unique to each region.
For myself, I could care less about the 2 that Europe has exclusivly. However, it's a waist of not only time but money for the seperate printing presses aswell. This surves no purpose. Next time either have all region's the same, both have them or both don't.

9) Neon and S2000. RIP.
Again, EA stated in an interview that all the cars, parts and vynals that were in NFSU would be in NFSU 2 plus more. Oh look! These are missing too!

10) EA's famous "12 Month Rule".
For god's sake, give your damned developers more time. This is getting stupid. 16 months minimum would be more reasonable.

I AM FINISHED AND DONE UNDERGROUND 2!

I finished the game two days ago with much dissapointment and unfullfilment. The game lacks deph! The Drag races are disgusting and the NOS effect disguted me even more. I`ve noticed when i was doing a race at the airport(URL) that when i looked back that the clouds shaping at back are the same as the ones infront of me-How`s that possible? The raindrops are as looooooooooong as only a road can be,the sound though is nice. What are the purpose of the hydraulics in this game? One other aspect that really annoyed me is the cartoon printed characters that were suppost to be part of the storyline of the game. You did a great job in this specific area in Underground One. I only got to chose between 3 body kits...this is sad! I have expected something like a 3 level body parts upgrades like it was in Underground 1,but yet my expectation was all for nothing. And finally, the drag races at the airport area really put the final blow to my liking of the game; THE AI CARS ARE LITERALLY FLYING INTO THE AIR AND BACK to the ground without overturning! How unrealistic is that? My mom always suported my game choices but just as I run one of those events , she passed by and then i heard her say "What for a nonsence is that?" It was then that I realised that-Need For Speed Underground 2 is a load of crab wrapped in a nice looking Christmas paper!

A plus in the game is the city graphics,it`s amazing really it is! I sometimes caught myself driving around just appreciating the scenery without looking for race events. The racing of the game stopped fascinating me the further i progressed in the game. It was just a matter of finishing it and get done with the thing. I rated this game 9/10 on a earlier post but this time around it`s a mere 5/10. EA games,if your ever thinking of making a follow up on this game, please ask advice from people who play your games and just not ask for advice, but please bring them into your game.

Oh and i allmost forgot- The gab between easy mode and medium mode is ridiculous;on easy level i am driving all alone like in a Colin Mcrae Racing game(i hate Colin Mcrae racing games) and on medium i will lead for 99% of the race just to lost by a AI car,its really annoying. And for URL and circiut i will lead all the laps untill that last couple of meters. Well, you get my point...lol

Well,I have to get back playing my Pro Evolution Soccer 3 game!

Some keyboards crap out when you try to press 3 or more keys at the same time. Others only do this when they're all on the same side of the board. Usualy your tower speaker will 'beep' to notify you when this happends (if applicable).
