hey guys,
i need help on downhill drifting with the traffic and apexed curves. the career difficulty i set it to hard for all the races, but for these downhill drifts i am ashamed to say that i set it to easy. normal drifting is no problem for me, but i do need expert tips from you for the downhill drifts. do not mention cheats please...

i suck at downhill drift as well, but you know your opponents score at the beginning which is good. i play it at hard, but i find that to beat the computer score, i have to slow to a crawl and sometimes even resort to using the handbrake, which is something i rarely do on track drifting. the traffic also throws me off a bit as well thats why you have to go slow, there is no time limit to speak of so it should be OK.
I find downhill drift incredibly easy and often double second place on Hard ...
Same principles as circuit drifting. Know the track and keep a good rhythm ... My advice to people who have difficulty is to keep whatever drifts you can get. Don't try to continue them if you're not confident that you'll be able to keep the drift without hitting something ... Remember, every little bit adds up ...

any tips on dyno tuning for downhill drifting? cause i feel that they should not be just the same as circuit drifting. as i see it, initial curve speed is not essential, and the car must be extremely easy to control since (1) the track is narrower and (2) those G.D. slow cars get into my way while drifting an outrageous drift and at the last second *poof* the drift points all gone

Well the RX-7 is the best downhill drifter actually.
The Evo and 4WD cars in general have a snap angle, an angle where it is really hard to recover from in a confined space.
But the RX-7 you can throw a lot sideways and easily dodge traffic and clear corners without much problem, you can still screw up though but keeping a good rythm does help.
I use the 7, I tried my GT-R and I was disappointed even though it had become a good track drifter on the downhill it all changed.
Slow steering response was one of the effects I suffered.
But the RX-7 turns quickly though you must keep in mind that the tail needs some time to recover from the sideways slide, that time is doubled on a 4WD so dodging traffic is a lot harder.
Whats the key word here? Concentration carefully watch the angle you do and do drive manual gearbox.
Basically I use the gearbox to turn my car it is really that effective.
If you go to high on the angle, sure you get a lot of points, but chances for recovery is lower.
And do allways take those short nice shortcuts into the yards of buildings like the castle, I quickly gained a 144k there in ONE SINGLE slide and I still had plenty of clearance to the wall...

while playing the tracks - medium mode, i used rx8..pretty tough but just do a big2 score around every corner. especially the area (not the road) in front of a building there..dunno what it is call..
then after finish the career mode, i race the downhill drift using my ae86..and scored double
