About the game and the soundtracks. :)
I really like the interactivity of the environment, it makes it more realistic. Especially the outrun challenges and the GPS system. What I'm disappointed about is, NFSU2 is less challenging than the 1st. The last race against "Caleb" is just poor. He ain't as aggressive as Eddy and Melissa in the 1st. Really wish those two and Samantha were still in the 2nd. (Dontcha think??
)
The soundtracks in the 1st was more motivating while racing than the new ones. The new ones doesn't suit the game really well. Because it really sucks, I downloaded the full versions of the songs in the 1st underground, I recorded it on cd and I'll play it on my component next to me while I'm playing NFSU2.

The music is appalling, I have to agree.
I've turned the music off, burnt my Motorhead CD's to an MP3 CD (about 10 hours of music on a single 700MB CD - I really must get a real life in-car MP3 CD player soon - 80minutes is just no longer sufficient!!) which I'm playing on my DVD player which is connected through my Sony Midi System.
Sweet setup - and it is just the music that should have been in the game in the first place! (No worse than that song in the menu which seems to contain a few "F" words - might be just my ears, maybe it's "funked"?)
(sings) #I need your dirty love, whatever you've got, you know I want the lot# (I wonder what that song is about? I really must stop thinking about Kelly Brook <Evil Grin>)
(changes to next song) #I don't even dare to ask your age, it's enough that you're here naked... you're jailbait and it's much too late# (hmm, I wonder what THAT song is about even more? I know - it's about illegal skinny dipping - phew, gald we sorted that one out!)

why do u guys hate the songs. would u be happier if they put opera and 50's in it. u guys complain about the game too much. last summer u guys were say ing i cant wait i want it now blah blah blah blahBLAH ect. i have an idea why dontu all write ea games a letter telling them what u liked and dont liked. and tell them what u want in it. they might even consider adding a custom soundtrack option in the next game. if everyone writes them a letter or even email them then im sure they will take it in consideration and put ur guys, (YES U PEOPLE THAT COMPLAIN ABOUT THE GAME) ideas and options in the game. this way there will be no complaining. and in my opinion i love underground 2 because of all the options.

1. I can only speak for myself, but I probably WOULD be happier if they included 50's stuff and opera in the soundtrack. It couldn't be worse than the tunes in NFSU2 which are all complete shiznit in my not-so-humble opinion.why do u guys hate the songs. would u be happier if they put opera and 50's in it. u guys complain about the game too much. last summer u guys were say ing i cant wait i want it now blah blah blah blahBLAH ect. i have an idea why dontu all write ea games a letter telling them what u liked and dont liked. and tell them what u want in it. they might even consider adding a custom soundtrack option in the next game. if everyone writes them a letter or even email them then im sure they will take it in consideration and put ur guys, (YES U PEOPLE THAT COMPLAIN ABOUT THE GAME) ideas and options in the game. this way there will be no complaining. and in my opinion i love underground 2 because of all the options.
2. I never said I can't wait for NFSU2 - I said it would probably be a let down and I was correct. It could (and SHOULD) have been soooo much better.
3. I tried to take part in the Survey offered by EA. I clicked the link as soon as I could (some of us have to work) and was told they'd had enough responses. I can only assume they got a few people saying, "Whoa, this game is f*cking awesome and can't be improved in any way." As usual, they will ignore what other people think and keep on producing tripe that could be improved so much if only they listened to everyone and not just the Yes-Men gamers. I've worked in games testing - I can assure you, NO GAME IS PERFECT WHEN IT IS RELEASED. Bugs (often quite serious) and improvement suggestions are swept aside because of the ridiculous timelines for releasing the games.
And YES, I will email improvement suggestions to EA yet again. However, I will add this to avoid any confusion - I still ENJOYED NFSU2.

This game was good, but the options can be overwhelming for players. I mean, come on, who really needs colored lights? That's just my opinion, though.
The graphics are better than the first Underground game, but I think they could be much better. Sometimes, the car looks too griddy like.
Overall, a great racing game. I love it so far. On a scale from 1 to 5, I'd give it a 4.5.

IMO they did listen to what we had to say in the survey after NFS U1.
cause in 1 we complained about:
- the replay, well we got it
- amount of cars (ok not much improved.. 50% more), and you could select cars from a list you wanted in (a rather big list) and I can remember the H2, Escalade and the mustang to be in it... so I think alot of people wanted them.
- more parts and customize options... and we got them... ok not the parts we wanted... be we didn't most likely specify... we probeble said MORE PARTS... so they added a Sh*tload of roofscoops and other useless parts... and we got mirros extra we asked for that! (ok most of the time I! like the stock ones better or the simple ones but he that is me)
- to color the manufacturors vinyls.... we got that.
- more decal options... didn't get that, why only god knows
- more rims, did get that... yeah there are really ugly ones but he we didn't specify again!
- rest where you could tell other things you wanted in... can't tell don't know what others wanted
so I think they did listen... and that survey was online for a while (not 1 day)

THIS IS A LONG READ, BUT HAS SOME NICE SUGGESTIONS.
I have played 19% of the game now, i was really hoping to drive some the nicer looking cars by now, oh well.
The ONLINE play is pretty weak IMO, there's only around 50 servers being played and most of them are in the high ranks or with suited up cars, I'm pretty sure If they had all the online servers together that their would be greater gameplay in this category.
There should have been DAMAGE to the cars, so your driving would have to more cautious.
Still keep the free roaming environment, but in different CITIES not just neighbourhoods.
More UPGRADES to the cars at a consistent pace, not just different amounts over a long period of time, not huge improvements to the cars, but small enough so you notice the difference.
More TRACKS like those in GT racing , as well as the street.
Different MODES of play, yes I know, but there's still some missing I think like: (Destruction Derby) in a arena and on the street , (Police Chase) where you try to avoid them from catching with tough obstacles on the way, plus another choice to race with others to see who can win and still outrun the police.
(Rally) on dirt tracks and where the environment leads to rally just like in Rally Championship or GT3.
(Tricks) to tally up points not just sliding like in Drift, but being rewarded for doing spin-outs, drafting, power-slides, wheely ( would be fun ), avoiding traffic, clean selection, etc.
(Destination) where you need to pickup people that might be doing things that aren't consided good and getting them away from the police and then still hiding your profile from others too, by replacing your license plate in a shop or in a house or garage.
More SHORTCUTS, like breaking through barricades just making the psychics over the top not just mainly limited to where you should be going.
REPLAYS are a big factor that would be so sweet, cause I have had amazing crashes in races and the roaming environment which I wished I could've saved.
Able to make your own MOVIES by clicking on a button and then loading it after, able to edit it and then save it to view to others.
TRADES would be used in the lobbies where players get to exchange parts or sell them to others to really suit up their car or just get rid of the parts they're not using.
Able to upload your own SOUNDTRACKS to the playlist, so you don't have to listen always to music that you might not even like.
More variety of CARS, like with more racing types and lux.
Being able to buy cars in a DEALERSHIP, so you don't have to wait to later in the game when your current car is already suited up enough that you don't need to change it.
LICENSING your car to drive in different types of races would be great, so sponsors or reps would only take you If your skill is well enough to advance.
CAR LIST to look at. ( Just having more racing vehicles, then just typical street cars )
Dodge Viper GTS, Lamborghini Diablo GT, Porshe 911 Carrera 4, Chevrolet Corvette, BMW Z3, Ford Puma, Lotus Elise, McLaren F1, BMW E46 M3, Bentley Continental, Chrysler Crossfire, Chevrolet Corvette Coupe, Ford GT40 mk1, Gillet Vertigo, Honda NSX Type-R, Jaguar XJR-15, Mercedes-Benz CLK430, Mitsubishi Eclipse, Pagani Zonda C12-S.

i agree the online mode is ok but what i hate is that if ur a rookie (like me hehe) and they put u up against elites with fully customized cars and leave u in the dust. and after that they talk so much trash at u that it makes u not want to play on it ever. i have nfsu2 for xbox so during the race i get a load of trash talk. another thing they should put in real cities (YES I MEAN REAL) like Detroit, Los Angelous, and even new york. another thing that made me angry was the small selection of exhaust tips. they slashed them down by half. they should let u decide if u want a straight pipe, duals, ect. and then add in more tips. also cops would be nice. they should call u running from cops OUTRUN. also the traffic sux. they need to detail them up. also the choice of vinyls is low. they should of used the art factory, top layer, and contest in with uniques. it takes forever trying to find a good vinyl. they also took out hood decals. that really disapointed me. outside of the game u coluld put decals were ever u want like on ur spoiler or bumper. not windows and doors. another thing in the rims. they shoulda left the original and the add in the others. also note nice video sp3ak. and was that u driving the car checking out the others at the end.

Well i better give my 2 cents about this game.
Cars: Some of the cars that were in NFSU i missed in NFSU2 (Honda S2000 was the main one) The car list was good, but it could of been better. They could of substituted the SUV's for Muscle cars. If they did this a lot of people would want to see which is faster, domestic or import. The thing i really hated about this game is that they didn't add the Twin Turbo Supra. The NA Supra in the game was the same as the one in NFSU (Although it did oversteer more)
7/10
Customization. The body kits suck. Plain and simple. There was only a handful that looked good and even they stunk. Other than that the cumization is good. Needs more Audio brands though, I was looking forward to sticking Alpine Subs in my Holden Monaro.
6/10
Career: Very, Very Boring. Around Stage 4/5 it gets VERY repetitive. And those URL Tournaments were very annoying. I didn't like the story mode at all. A very dissapointing career mode.
3/10
Modes: My favourite mode this time around turns out to be Downhill Drift. Drifting downhill in an AE86 Corolla made to look like the the Fujiwara tofu mobile (Don't laugh) was very fun indeed. Drag doesn't seem to be very appealing because the strips weren't straight and u have to dodge a lot of sh*t. It would have been better if they had legal drag strips in the URL stadiums. The other modes were about the same as the ones in NFSU, Long and Tiresome (Especially URL)
7/10
Overal i give this game a 5/10 because of the numbers of cars, the customization and Downhill Drift. The absence of the TT Supra (Grrrr.....) and the Sh*tbox bodykits brought this games rating down a lot.

its EA..FULLSTOP.....i ONLY like this game..is because...i can customise my jap cars..now i dnt even race anymore..i just tune up my cars over and over again..making differnt versions..im really enjoying that....the rest..? nahh forget that man...im 62% in carreer..i got all the cars..100% parts unlcoked..so i dont see the point in finishing the game..o yeh...to get those alien bodykits? no thanks =D
My first thoughts looking around the NFSUnlimted showroom before buying the game were: WOW, what CAN'T you do to these cars!?
After getting the game and digging into it a little, I found my answer to the above question: Not much!
Cars: Plenty here to choose from! From the new Mustang to the Corolla AE86, all the way to H2s and Escalades, I found the selection to be pretty darn satisfying. Even a few semi-exotics, like the RX-7s and Skylines. They seem well-modeled, only a few points to nitpick about. The car-to-world scale does seem a bit off. White wooden fences going up to my H2's roof? A little off... 9/10
Customization: Easily my favorite part of the game. I spend more time modding the cars than I do driving them! The number of parts and styles is staggering. Trying to look at every one of the vinyls could take a person a whole day, not to mention matching them to the paintjob. Some may wine about the kits, but I found plenty to match each ride. Love the specialties. Scissor doors, N20 purge, hydros... I get a kick out of the sound system options! Performance modding was much more satisfying, with tuning for each race mode. The only thing I found slighlty odd was that 26" spinners were smaller than regualr 26" rims on my H2... ah well. 10/10
Modes: Mixed feelings here... Free Run is a pure BLAST for me! I used to play a game called Midtown Madness (I played MM2, as well), and always relished the Cruise mode, which allowed drivers to blast around the town at random. NFS:U@ takes it to a huge new level, with the biggest drivable town I've ever seen in a racing game! SImply flying, bouncing, and sliding around the city randomly keeps me happy for hours on end. I also enjoy Circuits and Sprints, especially downhill sprints against good competition. The OTHER modes tee'd me off. Drag racing was ruined by sh*tty tracks and traffic coming at you on BOTH sides of the highway. Drift and Street-X tracks are way too laggy (on my old POS computer) to be enjoyable. Downhill Drift is difficult, but i can see it being fun, since I get to . The mod that pissed me off most was that damned URL. Three races around the same track with NO TRAFFIC to have fun with gets boring as hell. 7/10
Gameplay: This NFS benefits from more realistic driving physics and smarter racers. I also like the idea of having to drive from race to race and shop to shop, outrunning other drivers along the way. IMO, the menus need a bit of tweaking, and the dull, cheesy storyline needs a lot of work. But then, I've unlocked everything but the stupid sponsor vinyls, so all I do is quick races anyway!
7/10
Graphics: OH MY GOD. This is one of the best looking games I have running on my old computer! The LOD system works and looks great! Horizon fog and tinting work pretty well too when they have to. I enjoy going up to Jackson Heights and looking out over the city. Textures are good, buildings are well-modeled. As I said earlier, the cars are well-made, too. 10/10
Sounds: Good engine sounds! The city also has nice ambience to it, with EL trains thundering by overhead and the engines of other racers roaring off in the distance. The soundtrack has a few good songs, like Snoop Dogg and The Doors doing "Riders on the Storm," but most of the tracks suck. EA's lousy excuse for "rock" in this game involves screaming morons on electric guitars shreaking through my bass trunk... 6/10
Final word: I loved the first Underground, and Need For Speed: Underground 2 only expands on the goodness. New cars, new mods, and a big-ass new city to explore, all beautifully emulated through my screen and speakers! Final score (not an average): 9/10
----
PS: To DarrenR21373, some RPG-style opera and hot rod-era classic rock would spice this game up nice! Give me ideas on what to put in my CD player next time I race!

I've found another inconsistency in NFSU2.
Of the cars I've used to date, the AE86 (1986?) Toyota Corolla has the highest top speed! WTF - 250mph Level 3 without Uniques (according to my Dyno)! My GTO only Dyno'd at 240mph and my Mustang at 219mph (all tuned the same way). These are 5.7litre Muscle Cars against a small, old hatchback!
To DJ_Zephyr: As I may have mentioned previously, I tend to listen to metal while playing NFSUx, normally Motorhead. However, if you want opera, you can't really beat the Rock Opera classic, "Tommy" by The Who (and I'm not biased just because the boss of a firm I used to work for managed them before they became famous!). As for Hot Rod rock, I guess anything by ZZTop.

I'm all about all the parts and whatnot in NFSU2! Infact, they should've had more! I'm not done with the game, but you can basically see how many of each different part there are going to be. I also think they needed a few more cars, and not even added the SUV's or the spinner rims. The number of tracks is fine, as they're all pretty easy to remember, and being there aren't many, that makes the game a little easier.
As far as the game overall, by far my favorite of the Need For Speed series!

For me I like the present selection of cars rather than "muscle cars" or other race cars... and I'd rather race a Lancer or an Impreza than a 911 Turbo or some McLaren. The Mustang GT is one of the cars that I still haven't bothered to drive yet. I am someone who much prefers this city racing more than on some set race tracks - I loved Microsoft's Midtown Madness 1/2 many years ago, even though the graphics was infinitely (!) worse and players were driving the VW Beetle, a fire truck, a pickup truck and buses! (They had the Mustang GT of that time too - anyone played it?) Most race modes were not that boring for me except URL, which is seriously boring. Drift is my favourite mode.
As for the racers being smart... I tend to think the opposite. They don't know how to race properly. On normal difficulty, whenever I am behind, it takes little effort to overtake everyone. Once I am in front, however, those stupid AI racers behind me cheat like hell and do corners and hairpin turns at straight-stretch speeds, and I can't get very far ahead of them. If they crash (as I watch the mini-map they suddenly stop and become turned around, say - or sometimes they crash right in front of me), they will just magically turn back the right way and then dash at Mach 10 towards the rest of the racers... very annoying really.
NFSU2 is my first racing game in more than four years (the last one I bought was NFS Porsche 2000! I usually stick to simulations - Flight Simulator, SimCity etc.) and I don't know anything about even the first Underground NFS, but I am quite satisfied with NFSU2. Sure, there are plenty of imperfections, the wide body kits all look horrible, the URL races are so dead boring, and so on... but there are always these things in every single game. I would rate NFSU2 lower than my simulation games if I were to rate it, just because I am biased towards simulations
so I won't give it a score because it probably isn't fair.
