Ok so in real life and in NFSU do body kits, roof scoops, and carbon fiber parts make your car go faster? I would think body kits and roof scoops would just add more weight to your car, or do they make a car more aerodynamic? Thanks for answering my n00bish questions.

The roof scoops aren't used in street cars and are only really used in MR cars and rally cars. On an MR car the scoop can be used as an intake for the engine when it's hooked up to a long duct, on a rally car it's just a scoop that leads into the cockpit because they removed the air conditioning to save weight. Some bodykits are designed to allow more air into the engine and some provide a wee bit of downforce, but that's it.

ok if it a scoop facing the cockpit of the car, it means that its letting engine heat out, and if its facing forward its letting the air in, (this is used mainly for tmic *top mount intercoolers* ) the scoops on top of your roof are used mainly for rally car drivers beucase tis soo hot in there you need fresh air and the scoops let air into the cockpit.... body kits mainly add earodynamics to your car, but some kits dont do anything, like the cheapo ones that just look funky/ rice
well i hope this helped.....

Not neccessarily. A backwards scoop can also act as a cold-air intake.M_S wrote:ok if it a scoop facing the cockpit of the car, it means that its letting engine heat out
A good example of this is the old Holden Torana XU-1.
I explained how it works in another thread somewhere . . .
And carbon fibre is not only lighter, but it's also stronger and safer. To explain:
When metal chassis/frame crumples in a crash, most of the energy is not dissipated and the person in the cockpit of the car will still feel most of the force of the impact.
But carbon fibre does not crumple. Instead, it shatters. when it shatters, a lot of the energy is dissipated through each little piece of shattered carbon fibre, thus reducing the amount of energy that actually reaches the cockpit.
It's sort of hard to explain, so I hope you get it.

Carbon fibre isnt necessarily safer unless youre running bonnet pins to hold it down. I knew a guy from the US Supra club who fitted a CF hood to his car. During a decently fast sprint, the hood flew up and he crashed the car. Luckily he survived and the car wasn badly damaged enough to be declared a write off.

ever noticed that alot of Exotic racecars are have bodyparts that are build out of Carbon Fibre... and they are all painted...
say I would add CF parts to my car... I would definetly paint them...
the new generation of ricers have heard of CF and use vinyls and stuff to make things look like CF... if it wasn't for the fact that I am not a fan of the black CF look the fact that RICERS and NOOBS replicate it would be enough reason!
