The rule change is good for competition, but I think showroom should allow background editing. After all it is the place for show casing, and sometimes I do enjoy when someone makes an outstanding presentation. I always rate just the car, but I can understand that less experienced users/raters might forget the idea of rating when an impressive background picture takes over.

If the editing rule should become true for showroom aswell, I definitely would like to see an alternate place where one could post wallpaper/poster style pictures. The best photoshop work definitely deserves it.

Ps. I myself do not edit my car backgrounds. I don't have the time, and perhaps not enough skill either.

Please check the first few posts in this thread. They show very clearly what is allowed.

I'm a new member here and just started screenshooting my cars to put them up in my garage. and as soon as I did I started to realize that due to the lack of my skills in photoshop the ratings werent as high as I expected. So now that this rule is enforced I am hoping to have an equal chance against others.

Thanks Stig

i for one think it's a hell of an idea (a good "hell of a") :)
i just hope this rule is enfoced properly cuz i'm really tired of ppl voting "wow dude great presentation! that's a -10- for u"

but one question remains unanswered... i can't really explain it in words, so hopp by at my garage and tell wether or not my presentation is allowed, cuz i'm doing a new car and i don't it disqualified (i mean the presentation of the celica and rsx)

my garage
if you have read the full set of rules and looked at the link you would have seen that it is allowed...

but if you think abit it is about what is allowed and what NOT,
the main reason is the CAR! how you build it not how much you are allowed to do... :wink:

good luck on the work

i think this idea should be instilled in the showroom and for challenges too.

This rule is perfect for challenges but not for showroom

Look at this -> Show
and then -> Room

We want that section to be a Tuning Show so any kind of editing should be allowed (but editing the car itself)

Ranks are not important in any way from my point of view, comments are the real thing. And I agree with vellu that some people forget to rate the car instead of the presentation (even if this last one helps a bit to get that extra point higher)

When I find an awesome presentation or a cool new concept I add it to my "Favourites", this way you can find in my favs cars wich got a low rate from me (because the car itself isn't that good) but are cool in some way

But some people (*cough "unknown") here voted high because of the presentation, even though their cars sucked... They have the presentation for "back-up" purposes. :?

Its a great idea.

It needs to be enforced in the Showroom to. Its a showroom for the cars, not the background.

can you cut the picture of the car out of the garage or outside pic and paste it onto a black background (or red or blue, ect) like all of my cars?

sorry to re-open the question, but I must say that I can't see great difference between old comps and new ones, just at the beginning photo editing was a bit stopped, but if you see the last 2 comps you can clearly see that we still have picture editing...ok, someone is following the rules, making simple screens of their rides, but 1/2 the pics are photoshopped, and at least 1/2 of these in a very hard mode...so my question is if people didn't understand the new rules, or cars are not reviewed when entering a comp (it would take so a lot of time I think, so it's possible), or what???
See the last comp running and you'll see completely edited backgrounds and various effects added to the screenshots...so what??! :roll:
not saying this to sound annoying, but I think rules have been by-passed in some way :?

The whole idea of this, Patrick, is to make it a car tuning challenge, not an image editing challenge. You don't seem to have comprehended that. As mentioned numerous times, the showroom is the place where you can show off your mad PS skills.

Oh, and thanks for dragging up this three month old thread. We try to discourage that.
