Anyone here ever played an old game called Midtown Madness? It was made by Microsoft and had a pair of sequels, the second of which went to Xbox and sadly never came to PC. The first was based in Chicago, the second in San Francisco and London. The third was in Paris and Washington DC.
All of the games had the same basic premise. Rampant city racing in funky cars and trucks (stock cars and tucks, no tuners; although hundreds of custom cars were made by many players), goofy commentators, and tons and tons of traffic and lots of pedestrians to pick on. The ones I played (#1 and 2) had a mode called "Cruise," in which the only goal was to blast around the city laffin' yer bum off as you sent compact cars flying with the help of your Freightliner's grill, all while the Mustang patrol cars were hot on yer tail (usually getting flattened later by your trailer)!
These games are the reason i enjoy NFS:U2 and GTA:VC so much. I love to just drive randomly and maniacly through a city!
I was just curious if anyone here has ever played the first two. I dont have an Xbox, so i never got to play the third. Here's a couple o' links:
