well the bike has changed right after I made the pics last week, I finally changed the grips to the ones I like best (comfortwise) and I installed a Titanium hartrate monitor. and still have a new set of barends in backorder.

@PSZETA: you want them... :P they will be sold soon

btw I also told I would show some old projects of mine... but looking on my comp for pics are only a couple of bad pics (dark) and 1 good one and one that is a good pic but a useless bike :P

I think I will visit my ex-girlfriend to take some pics of here SCOTT USA (same frame but painted blue... and it was originally the basic bike of the same racing series (entry model :P) but I completely changed it only left the seatpost and the handlebars stock

the brake pads do wear out quicker because they are not as big as normal brakes so it can happen that they work bad cause there is no pad left and you are braking metal on metal (not good!)

there are alot of stories about diskbrakes and well most of them are false or they are from low budget brakes with a cable(cable snap) instead of hydrolic.

in most cases it is bad maintainance that is the bad guy

i'll rather stay with 'V' brakes. plus they cost many more and i'm too young to afford them.

and you have to have a bike with the ability to mount Disks... and a well installed set of V-Brakes can stop really fast also...

May I ask where you get your parts from Stig? I can't seem to find any professional shops that sell better suspension etc. I'd be better off with great parts instead of buying a new bike, because my current frame is good enough.

well it depens on what you want on a fork.
there are loads options:

longer travel, air suspension, lock-out (can turn your suspension off) and more

and ofcourse what is your budget... there is alot of good stuff for difirent prices. (the high range (1000+ is more about light weight and design)

the my condition is now... it wont be so high but after a couple times training I think in the summer it will be back to normal again.
downhill (in Luxemburg) was my max just over 60 Km/h and that was pretty damn scary on a gravel road.
here in the flat Netherlands I can reach 35 as a constant speed. I did manage to reach over 50 on a slight downhill road (end of bridge) but then again MTB's are not build for high speed on the road.

true, true. some friend of mine has a MTB with slick tires which is kinda dumb imo. if you want to have a street bike buy one.
i'm waiting for summer to come. i have a nice little path which i came up with. it combines flat roads and hills. it's something about 11KM long and it's really good for my legs, back muscles and my condition.
damn, bikes are really great for training 8)

I once peaked on 48km/h on a 21 gear bike. Has anyone of you guys tried to drop? I did, a small height, and I don't want to do it again, I really banged up my knee
And then again, my bike is not hard enough to drop a 95kg guy like me 8)

I'v never dropped more than about 1/2 a metre, and I never will

But there is a skate park being built near my house, so we will see . . .

Also, even though a bike might say that it has 21 gears, you can't use them all, so it might as well be called a 15 gear bike.

well I buy my parts everywhere... but mostly by internet.

I shout EBAY almost everyday (lately EVERYDAY) mostly the german and US ebay's cause they have the most bike parts for the lowest prices and I also look at the canadian and australian sites

but I also scout marktplaats.nl for some good parts (mostly older more old school parts and old school bikes... )

and shops... for my normal parts and everything I go to my local MTB/Roadbike store here in town.

but where do you live? (city) I might know a good store there :D there are alot of good stores in The Netherland wich can help you alot with advise and a high  value
I also can give you advise on what to search for on Inet

just let me know

Well, depending on what part are you planning to buy, you should compare the dimensions with parts you already have on your bike.
It's not THAT complicated :P

yep well dragster is right...

alot of parts are equal on all MTB's like wheelsizes are always 26" and they all the axels are the same with.

things that are difirent are:
seatposts... alot of sizes
front derailleur also alot of sizes ... same as seatposts because they are attached to the same tube...

and the bottom bracket size can differ... but you hardly ever change that...

just post a few pics or links of what you seen and I can tell you if it fits..
you have to tell us what kind of bike you have... (sorry if you did... then I will check back..)

I will place some pics to explain some sizes... cause what I jus told can be rather dificult...

If you're braking fails, you got to think logicaly.

Depending on speed and conditions, the best effective way I find is to use ur foot againt the spokes of the rim. If this is impossible, you can always bail by launching urself off the seat using ur hands.

Ive had to use both methods before because im an idiot and take huge risks.

.... wft has a quote of a song to do with this topic???

Hehe.. good song
