Looks like some people haven't heard of GERMANY

they still have highways where you are only advised to drive a certain speed. on some big highways there is no max just the advise!

so if you feel like going 200+ go ahead (atleast that what I did as soon as I got the chance.

aslong as you don't put others in danger. you can go right ahead. there is No cop who will trow you in jail of even give you a ticket for driving for instance 240 on those highways!

so that is NO BULLSH*T, not everybody lives in the same place with the same laws!

and yeah I didn't get any further then aprox 215 cause the car run out of power (2001 Celica 140 BHP)

Ive gone about 120, when my dads company let him borrow a Porsche Boxter. You guys know what im talking about. There have been many times when my dad has driven that fast though. On small 2 lane roads, he drives at an average of about 60 or 70 MPH.

YAY!

I win the "Only one who hasn't been higher than 75" award.

Seriously, nobody I know is a car nut or anything.. the family vehicles are a Chevy conversion van and a Ford pickup. I can't even remember ever sitting in a decent sports car...

My personal record is 40 mph. Driving lessons.

If the small two lane roads he is referring to are the same as some of the ones around here, you cannot go much faster because they are very windy.

You cant determine how fast a car will go on HP and Torque numbers alone. Unless you can see where the power is being made, its impossible.
*sig removed for being too big. limitations are 550x120px & 50kb*

That is the most STUPID comment I seen in a while... ever noticed that even if you have a McLaren F1 you are limited by a few factors:
1 your own guts
2 the condition of the road
3 what kind of road it it (twisty, long streight etc)
4 the overall risk it brings to you and others...

this could mean that even with a 600 BHP car you could have a personal top speed of 60 MPH cause it is a small twisted road with loads of bumps
or you drive a 90 BHP car on the highway and do a max of 100 MPH

so HP count says nothing about SPEED...

Imagine this... open highway, early morning, no traffic. Me and my friend in his G35 Coupe (automatic, he's a bit weak if you ask me). I'm in the driver seat. I put it into tiptronic mode (wannabe-stick), and I let it glide up to 130MPH. It was nuts.

I've hit my limiter once. I know it's somewhere in the neighbourhood of 200km/h. I just wasn't paying enough attention to the speedometre at the time. Pretty stupid, probably, but the highway was empty, and I didn't die, so, uhh, yeah, not again any time soon.

i'm still learning to drive, and during one of the lessons i drove 90 km/h (56 mph), which is the fastest I've driven myself (in 12h of driving-experience :D)
And I've been driven 200 km/h (125 mph) by my friend, with his Audi TT ^^

What model of Intrepid was it? Because I gotta admit, that sounds a little high. Although it's theoretically possible, the combination of aerodynamics, power (in the first generation, and the second generation with the 2.7 and the 3.2), and the limiter (because of the tires that most of them have). I know mine is limited to either 118mph or 125mph.

Oh, and of course, I also doubt it was redlined. I should think that, based on gearing, an Intrepid at redline would be going in excess of 300kmh. I could be wrong on that, but I know that a) at 100kmh, I'm at 2000rpm, and b) my redline is 6400rpm (and I imagine that every Intrepid, except the 3.3, as it had pushrods, have similar redlines). I know that all Intrepids (with the exception of the underpowered 2.7) have the same gearing. As such, it stands to logic that an Intrepid at redline should be at at least 300kmh.
