OK, I've let rip about this a couple of times before, but here is the place to really let my feelings be shown...
What I hate most in the World (well, UK at least) is f***ing speed cameras.
And now those bastards at Wiltshire council have decided to put some on the M4 Motorway! FFS, Motorways are the safest roads in the country (and UK ones are amongst the safest in the World, despite most people exceeding the ridiculously low speed limit!). When SCAMeras were first introduced, we were promised that they would be only used in accident balckspots. Bullsh*t!!! If this is the case, why the f*** are they only placed on dual carriageways, trunk roads and motorways where there are very few accidents and hardly ever outside of schools? Because they are placed to raise the most revenue, not to save lives, of course!!
And isn't it a surprise that they are placed on roads with unrealistic speed limits? 30 MPH on a dual carriageway, 40 MPH on rural roads with no houses or schools and very little traffic, 50MPH on Motorways? Speed limits are supposed to be set so that 85% of people will obey them. Of course, the traffic flows in these sorts of locations, so lets make money out of speeding fines, think the councils. What they seem to forget is that each offence nets the victim 3 penalty points on their licence. 12 points and you get disqualified. Get disqualified, you can lose your job. And then, all that will happen is that more unemployed people will need state support just to live. So lets put in more speed cameras to raise yet more revenue to support the people who have lost their jobs because they have lost their licences. What a pathetic country this has become. I'm not going to go into politics here, but suffice it to say that the Labour government has screwed this once great country into the ground. Time for a change, I think!
If we must be treated like f***ing dorks, at least scrap the unfair points system so that people can keep their jobs so they don't lose their licences for doing 79MPH on a motorway (the ridiculous 70MPH limit was introduced 30-odd years ago when most cars would struggle to even reach that speed! Before that time, it was unrestricted, as it should be. If we must have arbitary limits, let's at least be in line with most of Europe, where the legal limit on motorways is 80 MPH+, unsurpringly the speed that most people drive at!!)
I am all in favour of cameras in the right places (in town centres and outside of schools and hospitals, where people need to slow down as children and the infirm are present).

I ought to make this clear - I DO NOT SPEED, I HAVE NEVER HAD A SPEEDING (or other) FINE IN MY LIFE so you can shut up. I was not talking about myself, it was a general comment. Sorry if you are unable to understand the difference. And since I already live in the best country in the world (IMO) why would I want to move out of it?
Some people - this thread is called FRUSTRATIONS - sorry if you are one of those people who is so gullable they believe these devices are not just for making money. It has been proved that cameras cause accidents - and the death rate has gone up - because people are too busy watching their speedometers instead of the road. Surely the complete opposite of their intention. This is the frustration of it. FFS, you try to make a point (backed up by the evidence, just search the web) and get flamed. END OF RANT, but I will always stick up for my point of view.

GRRRR. I spent all day Saturday tearing my engine apart, banging my head on the jack, and pouring coolant into my shoe to find out that my thermostat had failed, causing the dissapearence of all of the coolant, and the heat warped the aluminum head. Then I got sick for four days. Mondays don't get much worse.
Fortunately, a new head gasket, $20 worth of machining on the head, and another Saturday's worth of work from now, I should be able to drive it again.
