How to select something in photoshop

Post by NFSBLUECIVIC »

so i got photoshop, and im having trouble selecting stuff, like cars. I want to create cool presentations but when i try to select cars they look like crap, when i use magnetic lasso, it cuts out parts and looks bad, when i use magic wand, it never just selects only the car, how do you guys do it and make it look so good? Please help

Zoom in around 500% and use the polygonal lasso tool to crop out the stuff around the car.

And activate the smoothing-option first, otherwise the result will be very croppy  (Just as an addition cause I saw many rides with pixel-corners)

NO man that just want do.
Why didn't you say you want to cut out NFS cars

Now just turn the antialienising off nad set the game to a higher resolution (1280 x 960 for example)

Now make the screeenshot you want and start Photoshop. Then chose a colour that is not in the image(my advice is to chose the brightest green) now increase your monitor brightness so you can see the car clearly. So you are ready to cut.
Chose the pencil tool and set it to be 2px.wide now start drawing on the outline of the car, following it's pixels (set the tool to 1 px. width when you neeed to go round the tyres)

And whe you're done 'surrounding' the whole car hit Select-->Colour Range (you adjust the options) Whenthe lelection is made hitthe Delete key on your keyboard and vuala. A pefectly cut-out car.

That is a rediculously time-consuming way to cut out cars.

The polygonal lasso is all you need!

1. Way to time consuming polynomal lasso is easier
2. dont have the game, or a nice video card, so until i do get them both, i cant take my own screenshots.
now can someone help on making a nice background?
