NF Hot Pursuit vs MW... should I get HP?

Post by Xxwho3zJohnQxX »

Im not sure which of the hot pursuit games is it thats suppose to be better but...

Is the other game "Not Most Wanted" suppose to be better than MW?

Well... more fun at least?

Iono, I enjoy MW, and Im just not sure if the other game is worth buying at the moment.

anythoughts?

I could care less, but if anyone here can convince me its worth it, give it a shot.

the older ones arent as good as most wanted but are still worth buying. But like Fishwhiz said, you should have played HP before Most Wanted.

I have HP2 and Most Wanted... I'd definitely take MW first. Hot Pursuit is fun but can get quite old after a while.

HP2 was okay, but it had two different verisons.

MW is great though, but you should have, as everyone has said, played them in chronological order.

Depends on whether you have a good Gfx card or not. If you have a bad one, you will enjoy HP2 more, If its decent, you you may like MW more.

You can add cars & tracks to HP2, which still is a good feature. :D

The racing and gameplay in HP2 is very borring and repetive, and even slow paced. You have to do 2 laps on a hugantic track, and cops are friggin joke. After 30 seconds of a little bit of nudging, they tell dispatch that their buggin out. In MW, everything is fast paced, even the menu. You can tune and improve cars, and the cops behave like cops. They commnicate well and make plans on boxing you in without mercy. Dont get HP2 unless it's $5, otherwise, get MW.

There are a total of 9 Need for Speed series. 3 of them are specifically Pursuit games:
  • Need For Speed 3: Hot Pursuit (1998):
-Total cars: 16. Best ones: Mercedes CLK-GTR, Ferrari 550Maranello, Lamborghini Diablo SV, El niño (fantasy car by EA)
-Total circuits: 9. 4 locations, 2 circuits for each one: country roads, desert, futuristic city and mountain. Extra circuit: Empire city.
-Career: There is not a career... You must complete a tourney to unlock the extra cars, and complete the knockout tourney to unlock another car and the extra city.
-Single player modes: Pursuit, Quick race, Tourney, Knockout, cop playing.
-Thousands of downlodeable cars and dozens of modded circuits available
    -AI: Poor
-Time needed to beat the game: 3-6 hours
  • Need for Speed 6: Hot Pursuit 2 (2002)
    Cars screenshots
-Total cars: 34. Best ones: McLaren F1LM, Mercedes CLK-GTR, Ferrari F50, Porsche Carrera GT, Lamborghini Murcielago
-Total circuits: 12. 4 locations, 3 circuits for each one: Mediterranean, Pacific coast, woods and autumn mountain.
-Career: There are 2 tournaments to complete: World Championship and Hot Pursuit. Each one is a tree of challenges including 33 different events.
-Single player: Free roam, Pursuit, Knockout, Single race, Cop playing, Tourney.
-Cop strategies: Road blocks, spikestrips, helicopter throwing flaming barrels.
    -AI: Average
-Time needed to beat the game: 15-30 hours
  • Need for Speed 9: Most Wanted (2005)
-Total cars: 48. Best ones: Porsche Carrera GT, Lamborghini Murcielago, Aston Martin DB9, Ford GT40.
-Total circuits: A lot! 1 location (Rockport), multiple street combinations...
etc. To get more info about this game check the forums.
-You can't play as a cop.
-Cop strategies: Road blocks, spikestrips, helicopter watching you to help road cops find you.
    -AI: Excellent
-Time needed to beat the game: 25-50hours
They all are fun to play. If you like cops you will like them :)

Cough cough!

I fi were u i would definitely get HP2... Its one of EA's best games...Helicopters trow flamin barrels and there are spikes and other stuff.... split screen mode is much better than that in MW... Plus you can play with ferraris and mclarens.... Its a really cool game... althought MW is better, i advice you to get it.... specially if you have someone to play two players with...

If you're planning to buy the HP series, I'd suggest you substitute the HP1 for High Stakes instead, because HP1 doesn't have damage unlike NFS High Stakes.

If its pursuit you want go for mw. You can also tune cars on mw. I just think overall mw beats hp2.

OK overall MW owns HP2 but here are some things I like in HP2 that are not available in MW:

- Ability to play as a cop
- Flaming barrels falling from the helicopter... just exciting :D
- Awesome scenarios
- Ferrari F50, Mercedes CLK-GTR, Vanquish V12
- Best soundtrack ever
- ok I ran out of arguments lol.

Well as soon as MW came out I sold my HP2 and got it. HP2 is a good game, but it doesn't have a storyline er anything. All you do is race in events and unlock cars along the way. But you should really play it before you make your decision.
If I was in your shoes, I'd definetely get MW.

The reason why I got HP2 in the first place was because the graphics were astonishing back then, from the PU and HS, so that's why I bought it. :P

Get MW, wait a few years for the hardcore uberleet haxors to crack it, and youl have a game which can wipe HP2 off the 'even to think about buying compared to MW' list

That is, if it hasnt already...

HP2 is a quite nice game.

If you have the PS2 version. God, the PC version sucked.

Mainly because of its modability and tuneable graphics.
Hopefully we will be seeing some flexability in nfsmw too.

I have both versions, and the physics etc are much better in ps2 unfortunatly.

Heck, HP2 is like a whole different game on PS2 - not surprising tho, the PC port was farmed out to a different developer.

Wait... I'm confused here. I've never played PS2 in my life, not yet at least. But what's the difference between the PS2 version and the PC version of this game? I know there's rain effect in PS2 which the PC version doesn't.

Are there anything else special?

Physics are more real, tracks are more inviting, cars look a bit more accurate etc...

The whole unlocking car system is different, in PC you buy them with point thinghys, and Ps2 they become unlocked when you reach a certain amount of point thinghys (Don't ask me what point thinghys are cos I forgot)

HP2 feels like a totally different game on anything else than ps2, besides GTA3, its the game that really made the ps2 a stand-out system.
So since you're deciding upon the pc versions, definetely get MW.
