GameInformer's Carbon Hands On
GameInformer's Carbon Hands On
GameInformer magazine got an exclusive hands on preview of the upcoming Need for Speed Carbon and they got to test both the online modes and the single player carreer.
Carrer will start with with a canyon chase with our old friend from Most Wanted, Cross. Of course your car is crashed at the end of the chase meaning you'll have to start all over, but the starting car choices are bit more interesting: Chevy Camaro SS (Muscle), Alfa Romero Alpha Brera (Exotic), or Mazda RX8 (Tuner). Carreer then continues with you taking over territories by winning the races (you got a glance of that in the recently released Xbox 360 demo).
Online has 8 different modes including the all new police modes: Pursuit Knockout and Pursuit Tag. In Pursuit Tag the "driver is in a race car and everyone else is police. The goal is to be the race car for the longest amount of time". Pursuit Knockout is like the original Knockout, except the driver who is knocked out becomes a cop with a mission to stop the remaining racers. It seems that the cop modes are extremely fun as the reviewers were more than satisfied with them.
Some new information was also revealed: the team is seriously considering providing downloadable content, including cars, vinyls, paints and more. Providing that on Xbox 360 is simple - via payable addons on Live. But how are they planning it for other systems? Hopefully for free, but other developers have started charging little amounts for these addons.
Remember the Collector's edition? It will contain "12 new tracks, six new challenge series missions, and 10 exclusive cars including the 92’ Nissan 240 SX, 07 Jaguar XK, 06 Camero Concept, and the 06’ Koenigsegg CCX".
If you're interested in a few details we did not cover, be sure to read the full article here.

You can preorder a CE version for PC and PS2 at Amazon.de, so there must be a CE for at least these three(xBox360, PS2 and PC) systems.battleram wrote:I read the whole rewieve and it said that on XBOX360 it will be released as the regular version and collectors version, but the question is if they'll release the collectors edition on PC?

the collectors edition is the same price as that normal one. I went and preordered carbon today for the 360, and i asked about the collectors edition, they said there both the same, so i got that one.

Re: GameInformer's Carbon Hands On
this is some dirty tactics, EA... now EVERYBODY gotta get the Collectors' EditionBojan wrote:Remember the Collector's edition? why would they launch a normal and Collectors edition then??? usually, a game that has a few extras costs a little bit more....Fadefroof wrote:the collectors edition is the same price as that normal one. I'm a' liking that lol . Finally we can play like cops! Woohoo!!Cops have two distinct advantages. The first is that they can go through lighted barriers so short cuts are readily available, and second, cop cars handle better and are faster than normal cars. Cutting off a leader or creating a road block to stop a few cars in a short cut is beyond satisfying.
Hopefully they'll include the downloadable content for PC too, and it would make the most sense for it to be free; anyways, can't wait to try out the Alfa (or the RX8, can't quite decide yet, the Camaro is however out of the question for me, I like the other muscle cars much more, like 70's Charger and the Cuda...).
I think that EA will actually do a pretty good job with this game IF they include downloadable content (and for free). But still, even without it, Carbon seems quite promising.

Been checking NFSUnlimited for a while for news about the PC Demo. This site has been helpful in getting me the min. PC specs and for more info on the Collectors editions. Which brings me more on topic. You can get it from http://www.amazon.co.uk :
£25.99 for the PC and £54.99 for the Xbox360. For the Pc its only £1 more than the normal edition. So I canceled my order for the normal and ordered the CE
