Yep. I am planning into getting this car as soon as I get 18. It's a Mercedes SL65 AMG.

I want to know your opinion , tips on this car. Should I buy it? By the way I am 15 and I want to know if a car like this will be getting old by then.

Starting out with a SL65 is like being a woman. (read: Lindsay Lohan)

Crash a car because you can't drive well. Build up experience..

Well Im a same age as you, 15. This 2 cars car is already QUITE old in my opinion, and about 3 years from now I guess its gonna be old for sure. Try to go for a tuner as its much cheaper and can be customized to be on par or better than the Merc.

For $70k, there are many nicer cars than the big Mercs. Ferrari 355 F1, 911 Turbos, and American Muscle aplenty.
At 18, I seriously doubt you'll own an SL at all, let alone a 65. No-where would insure you to drive one, for instance. And big front-engined, rear drive coupés aren't the best car to learn your handling skills in.

And why a 407? Ugly ugly cars, most commonly driven by the elderly, and not exactly involving drives.

Go GTR :o

I wish I had that money to blow, I wouldnt be buying expensive Mercs or Ferraris, I would be getting a tuner, at your age starting with like a front wheel drive Integra, then moving on to something like a GTR or Silvia and wasting all the rest on making it move like stink and look like glitter

Kid you're way too young to be thinking about a Mercedes. Unless you're rich then you are one lucky kid, otherwise forget it. There is simply no way you're going to be able to afford the car for one thing working minimum wage jobs, and on top of that the insurance is rediculous. Even used you're talking about a top of the line AMG model, no way in hell I could even afford that and I'm 22.

hahahaha this must be the funniest post in months here...

a SL65 AMG as starter car. That car has more torque then almost ANY car in the world and has more horsepower then most supercars.
The chance it will go under 70.000 USD in 3 years is very slim, a SL55 is in in general over 100.000 second hand. the 65 is very rare and will stay expensive for a long time. cars like the Mercedes SL are not daily drivers so they don't have alot of miles on them, wich makes them even more expensive as a second hand.

Ooh and not to forget, the roadtax and insurance will be huge! the SL65 is a heavy and big car and that combined with alot of power makes it a a extremely expensive car to own.

I really doubt you have any Idea how much 612 bhp and 1000!!!!! nm is.

And what is with the 407.
It is a car used by businessman and salespeople to cruise around europe, it is not a car you can tune, cause NO ONE has any tuning parts for it! you can put some ricer stuff on it like rims and a huge 1 size fits all spoiler and some universal interour stuff to make the car drop in value but that's about it.

ooh and you think you can get a loan for 70.000?? think again.

Is this another e-penis enlarging thread> Dude your 15, and your looking at an SL65 AMG? As The Stig said, these things are a weapon, plus throw in the repair costs when you break it (due to lack of experience in a high powered vehicle, plus registration, not to mention finding someone who will insure a car like that for anyone under the age of 25. Never look at something too good for your first car, because in 12 months time you will want something new anyway

Yea. You dont only pay for the car, theres lots more to consider. Road tax, insurance, fines, repair, maintanence and hidden costs. Just start with something real small. Maybe start with something like VW R32, Suzuki Swift, Honda Jazz, those hatchbacks, then you can move on to sedans, and then the Merc.

Maybe you're right... Anyway I can have that car in 3 years (not a dreamer) but I guess I am going to buy the Peugeot 407 or this:

(it will NOT be second hand, similar)

And don't say again this is too powerful :(

A Z might be affordable by the time you can get a car, but still the insurance is going to be high as hell. So you really won't be able to afford it, and still that is too much of a car for a beginner as well. You really need to start looking at low budget cars here, something used that you can depend on to go from point A to point B. Everyone's first car is never glorious, it's just what gets you started.

And I really recommend you this 2 cars, Honda Civic hatchback EG6 and Suzuki Swift. Not too powerful for a beginner and good cars to start with.

Stop saying he cant afford it since you dont know his income (or his parents income).

But yeah, a Z is more realistic. I know A bunch of guys my age driving H2s, RX8s and BMWs... One girl even has a porsche!!!

Now stomp some common sense into your mind. Never buy a new expensive car as your first.

I know exactly what the income of a teenager is, and it starts at minimum wage. I was a teenager once as well you know and I've gone through all the crappy jobs too. But you are right about his parent's income, I certainly don't know that.

Here in atlanta, NO one makes minimum wage.... Most teens at my school make 6 bucks an hour or more (most make 7 or 8) so Actually, some people could afford nice cars as teens, just depends how hard they work.

Or how much they suck up mummy and daddy's ass? I'm a 3rd year apprentice mechanic at the moment, and currently the second highest payed apprentice in my state, and I'm on 7.50 an hour (Aus dollar, perhaps someone could convert to US to give you and idea) I've been driving a 1990 Commodore for 3 years, and i've only just racked up enough savings for a deposit on a minitruck. Doesnt matter how hard you work as a 15 year old, you can not afford a Merc or even any brand new car up front, on your own
