ProStreet Community Day Hands On

Post by Bojan »

I got the opportunity to play Need for Speed ProStreet at a community day event held at EA Blackbox in Vancouver, Canada. The whole day of playing drag, grip and speed challenge resulted in a rather lengthy article explaining my experiences from the game play.
A few quick facts if you don't want to read the whole article:

* drag rocks
* speed challenge flies
* 25-40 hours of career gameplay
* 14 locations
* demo in october (Nevada speedchallenge + Autobahn grip)
* 400 performance tuning sliders
* replay cut
* duct tape repairs cut
* PC LAN play as a patch after release

Read the hands on article.

Edit: you can also read the articles from the other guys who were at the event:
Josh's at Racerplanet
Eric's at EA's NFS forums
Mike's at NFSCars
Darren's at NFSGarage
Arushan's at ND4SPDWorld

14 locations? I'm not sure if it's too little or enough for me. And what does 25-40 hours of gameplay mean? =x

Ouh. You mean average player would take at most 40 hours to complete career mode. Right?

Duct tape repairs cut? Aww man! After talking with Stephan Papadakis at Formula D and seeing his car with zip ties and duct tape on the rear bumper, I was actually excited that this feature was going to be in.

25-40 hours of gameplay? You sure? Unless if they're just making us race the same shiznit over and over again, that wouldn't be fun at all.

The article said that it would take ~25 hours to complete career mode but ~40 hours to complete all the races (it's not necessary to complete all races to finish career mode).

there will be several tracks in each location,
im guessing, drift,drag,grip, and circuit in one location,
meaning 56 races in career mode, well thats my thoughts

The location system IMO is going to be like Live for Speed. Several tracks inside a big one.

mmm
@Bojan:
idk...No comments of what kinds of cars were u driving? or any pic coming from a cellphone? lol...
How is AutoBahn track? is like a MW or U2 city (I know the track is setted on germany) but I'm asking about if it feels like playing a "Rock Port" stylish city...idk how to say it :S. It feels like driving in a real city or it's kinda just circuit purpose?
You tested the Xbox360 I guess...could you ask for any PC hint like requirements or limitations (like gfx, modes or cars) to other platforms?

I hope we can see those "intros" before racing...with girls and a lil bit of show lol. I wonder also how is looking the menu... :S
Tell us about the interface, like the autosculpt system, same ugly bodykits, what can u tell us about that?
I guess that's part from the NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement)... #-o

Anyways, good one Bojan, and ur lucky!!

Yeah... my friend's mom asked Stephan about why they do that (zip ties and duct tape on body parts) and he explained that it would take too much time to be in the body shop because they run the cars every weekend for practice sessions and what not... and only in the off-season for SEMA they fix them up to look real nice.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and just for kicks:

Yeah that's what I figured. Nice pictures man. The zip ties look so bad ass! Like stitches or somethin', haha.

P.S. Happy Birthday Bojan.

Autobahn Grip means that Grip racing will be available on the German Autobahn highway track that the demo comes with.
