EA's Tim Fields on Wii Undercover At GameCyte

Post by Bojan »

GameCyte got a chance to interview EA's Tim Fields, a producer on Need for Speed Undercover. They talked about the Wii version of the game, Wii controls, heroic driving, the new Logitech Wheel for Wii, the story, game modes and more.
GameCyte: You say “top of their game.” We’re curious – are there any online modes in NFS: Undercover on Wii?
TF: The game is focused on multiplayer, same-couch play. It’s clear to us that the Wii is a very social gaming platform — you sit around with your friends and play this — and that’s the experience that we really wanted to give folks this time around. We’ve got split-screen modes, with all your classic races and chases, highway battles and so forth, and then we’ve got split and quad-screen modes that will let players do some pretty cool stuff. Cops and Robbers, a mode called The Heist that we’re really excited about, and that we’ll be revealing more about and so on…
Remember, this is the Wii version they're talking about ;)

We should ask them if there's an online version for PS2.

exactly. nfs games always get crappier (even though it may seem impossible) on the old gen systems.

So... you want people to get a next-gen console... just to play a Need for Speed game? That's messed up, that really is.

I think it's a sales strategy....like

You make your game for our console and take care of marketing and we get more sales. Also you will get X % from our sales profit.........

or something like that

Maybe they should make a Commodore 64 version of it, cause it would be sad for the users of the C64 not to be able to play the latest NFS.
And it's no longer Next gen consoles, the 360 and PS3 are Current gen consoles.
a PS2 is last gen. it's outdated.
Do you also expect PC games to still make games for a Pentium 2?

I do understand where the stig is comming from, my mate has most wanted for the ps2 and its almost unplayable with the quality of the graphics (imho hot pursuit 2 for the ps2 looks better then it).

On Topic: I do hope they get it right for the wii (not for my sake cos ill get it for PC) cos i played prostreet on the wii and the controles are VERY fustrating. Cops and robbers sounds like a fun game mode which i hopes comes to PC (great playin it over LAN with friends).
