Undercover in the press

Post by zeqlon »

Until Metacritic and the likes pick up the slack, here's what I could find: (source - platform - grade)

IGN - Xbox360 - 5/10
Official Xbox Magazine - Xbox360 - 7.5/10
PSXExtreme - PS3 - 8/10
GamePro - PS3 - No grade but the tagline says it all: "Friends don't let friends play Need for Speed: Undercover."
Videogamer - Xbox360 - 6/10
Gameplayer - Xbox360 - 6.5/10
EDGE - PS3/Xbox 360 - 3/10

In short, it's getting slammed. It should be noted one of the biggest flaws pointed out by the reviewers was that the game was lagging (like 20-ish fps in some areas), which the PC version might be spared. Other criticism included:
- handling (although to be fair for some it was a plus. Guess it's a "like it or don't" thing)
- city feels empty
- way too easy
- graphic glitches
- FMVs are tacky and badly acted (but, like, duuuh. I mean, it's NFS)
- open-world doesn't really "work" (bit complicated to explain that one, you'd have to read the reviews)

Pluses were:
- it's NFS
- handling
- sense of speed
- highway battles are fun
- customization (compared to its competitors, not really in absolute terms)

Depending on other reviews to come, all that's obviously subject to change.
