Windows Live Id
Windows Live Id
The question is simple, do you have a windows live id?
It's used for Microsoft's online services, like Xbox360 gamertag, Hotmail, Windows Messenger...
There's an idea to replace the current forum and website need for username and password with either windows live id or EA account and only keep a screen name.

Re: Windows Live Id
Yup!! I do have one.. But could you re-explain regarding the username thing? I'm kinda lost..
Re: Windows Live Id
It's possible the login system would be changed so you'd only need your windows live email and password to login to this site.
Re: Windows Live Id
So there would be no need to register with NFSUnltd and all you'd need is a Windows Live ID? Sounds like you're asking for spam, if that is the case.
Re: Windows Live Id
Yeah, as Haz pointed, there's gonna be some huge spamming round here. And why do you want to change the login system?
Re: Windows Live Id
Don't see why spammers would come here more. The captcha here never stopped bots anyway so let's just have Microsoft worry about that.
I'm fond of going through the registering process on sites. Everybody already has a windows live id (or EA account) - that way you can login instantly.

Re: Windows Live Id
Without having to actually register to the forum?
Re: Windows Live Id
Well you would have to choose a username... But that's all.
Re: Windows Live Id
I love Windows Live IDs.
I use it to sync Xbox Live, Games for Windows Live, Live Messenger, Zune, Live Email, Etc. It rocks.
As for the idea of replacing the login system.... Eh... What for and why?

You answered that yourself
Re: Windows Live Id
Sorry, but last I checked NFS Unlimited isn't a limb of the Microsoft machine...
Lots of work for little (or no) gains, unless there is something you arent telling us.

Re: Windows Live Id
For now I'm just toying with the idea, which is to make the site even more accessible.
Re: Windows Live Id
Sounds like a faster streamlined form of registering, but if that is the case, why limit guest registration to just a Windows ID or EA ID. Once you extend to more emails, I cant see the difference from regular registering unless you want guest posting to be far easier.

Re: Windows Live Id
I have one, but since mine is purely for professional use (Microsoft OEM Partner, Microsoft Certified Partner, Microsoft Certified Professional) I wouldn't use it here (or any other "leisure" site) anyway.

Re: Windows Live Id
Yes, I do... and I don't really think this is a good idea.
Firstly, it never ceases to amaze me how gullible people are, because numerous accounts in my friend's list have been hacked. Secondly, merging that closely with EA IMO is kinda' stupid. Not only this, but there probably would be spam among the boards, not by bots, but instead by people coming in and promoting whatever, and being able to get away with it.
I could keep this going, but my voice is only one of many... so there's my two cents. Although I could imagine some good things, such as being able to instantly friend people on MSN through the forum... I think this would come down to integration pure and simple. What exactly would we, and we being the already registered users gain from this?

I'm with you on this CarCraze.. I love it just the way it is now. It's been like this since I registered 4 years ago, and I'm quite fond with it.

All the logging in and account handling is done on Microsoft's side which means we don't get to know anything about you, except some unique id.vellu wrote:I have one, but since mine is purely for professional use (Microsoft OEM Partner, Microsoft Certified Partner, Microsoft Certified Professional) I wouldn't use it here (or any other "leisure" site) anyway.
Also banning an windows live id or EA account name (which is connected to your gamertag), would be more efficient than just deactivating an account here...
Re: Windows Live Id
Huh? Somebody say 'ban'?
Re: Windows Live Id
So the login name would be different from the forum user name? (live id being my company email with my full name and company domain) If so, then it's fine by me.Bojan wrote:All the logging in and account handling is done on Microsoft's side which means we don't get to know anything about you, except some unique id.

Yes, I do have one due to the fact that I have a Hotmail account. I no longer use it however...

Re: Windows Live Id
Does this mean we will be able to change our usernames whenever we want?vellu wrote:So the login name would be different from the forum user name? btw I am the one person who voted 'no'
Re: Windows Live Id
Well the whole thing would work like this:
1) existing accounts: you'll have the choice whether to login here with your current username and password, or use Microsoft (or EA) to login to your current username
2) new users will just have to login using Microsoft (or EA) and then specify which username they'll be using (only after first login). After that they're a registered user of this site who use external login.

Ok, sounds good.
Re: Windows Live Id
