Car Setups: new site feature, testers needed
Car Setups: new site feature, testers needed
We're starting a new site feature which is all about car setups - upgrades and performance tuning setups that you want to share with others. The idea is to have a database of various setups for all cars, car ratings and tracks.
Right now we're supporting SHIFT - all it's performance upgrade options and tuning options.
It'd be great if you could help us by submitting a few car setups here: http://www.nfsunlimited.net/?p=setup_add&gameId=shift
If you want to see how the setup view page looks like, you can see a test setup here.
Your comments on the insert page and the setup view page are greatly appreciated.
In the short future the next stage should be up with the setups main page, searching, etc.
Thanks for helping.

Wow! Nice feature Bojan.
I'll try to submit some cars. Btw, shouldn't you upgrade that car list? It's wrong... DBR9 and R8 LMS are cars that cannot be tuned, and unless you use a mod, you cannot fine tune them with those sliders. You should have DB9 Coupé and normal R8. :p

Re: Car Setups: new site feature, testers needed
Looks like I won't be trading in Shift after all.
Re: Car Setups: new site feature, testers needed
Sweet, that's three customers already B!
BTW I'd like to see a way for people to rate a setup, like they can rate a showroom car now, and also I want to see the number of views a setup has had. What about faving setups too? All that regular showroom stuff could apply.

Maybe I should learn what some of the sliders change.
Re: Car Setups: new site feature, testers needed
We'll have some helpful info about those up there soon.

Awesome, I'm gonna build it now and have some fun
Do you have any comments on the car setups edit and view pages? Bugs, missing functionality, extras you'd wish for?

Re: Car Setups: new site feature, testers needed
It looks fine to me.
I'm going to set out to make myself a decent sub-10.00 car within the next few days. I have no idea what car to use, so this might become several hours of fun trying to find the best car and configuration of upgrades, or it might become several hours of extreme frustration.

It will be interesting to see what you come up with. Evo IX seems the favourite online, but it's plain that most poeple just go along with the crowd when it comes to car choices. For rating 10.00 I think you'd do well to check out Exige, Cayman, EVO IX, Impreza, R8, R34, but there's truly a whole swag of good choices. Good luck!
Re: Car Setups: new site feature, testers needed
Ratings have been added to the setup pages.
Re: Car Setups: new site feature, testers needed
New setup added, Rating 10 Audi TT.
Found a couple typos in the settings names, "Visco Electronick Lock" and "Rear Bum Stop Length" (lol). Ratings seem to be working fine tho, thanks for those!
Looking forward to tighter integration with Showroom profiles, search capability, Setups home page etc etc.

The official setups pages will be (is) http://www.nfsunlimited.net/tuning
Right now only a list of latest setups, but more will come in the near future, like filtering by cars and rating.
Ideas for other features are welcome.
Also I've been thinking of putting a short tuning tutorial on the page. Can anybody help there?

Originally created for GTR2, but the same principles should apply 1:1..Bojan wrote:The official setups pages will be (is) http://www.nfsunlimited.net/tuning

Re: Car Setups: new site feature, testers needed
An excellent guide, but many of the indicators required are not offered by Shift, such as the MoTeC analyser and metering such as tyre and brake temperatures. Also, someone else wrote it and plagiarism is bad, m'kay?
Re: Car Setups: new site feature, testers needed
Plagiarism?!.. I never claimed it was mine now, did I? Nor did I say you should copy it 1:1 and put your names on it, did I? Bojan asked for help with a tuning tutorial. I provided a link to a guide from which to take inspiration.. a guide that might help understand the next writer, what settings do what, whether it's Bojan or not. Now, please.. stop pointing fingers for the sake of pointing.

Keep your panties on Summ, it's just the Internet.

^Doesn't mean I have to put up with false accusations by random (insert whatever you feel appropriate here).. especially when I'm trying to help.
Re: Car Setups: new site feature, testers needed
No one was accusing you of anything. You read it wrong.
