Yeah, there is an ancient thread about downvoting, called "Downvoting on competitions.............."

I entered just at 14:00 (12:00GMT) to vote, and nobody had voted yet so I was the first. I wait some minutes and then noticed the overall ratings of all the cars were between 6.5/8.5

Within time, overall ratings go down, now there are between 3.5/7.0

I think this means many things.... Users that frequent nfsunlimited enter at first moments and vote honestly. Downvoters come later... :D

I am voting very high in this competition. 70% of 8s and 7s, 20%of 9, 6 and 5, 10% of 10, 3 and 4. (estimations LOL)

i am always honest. I can vote a 10 and i can vote a 1 if it's really horrible. But i usually vote between 5 and 10.
BTW, my car is getting like the worst ranking ever! because people are honest. They will downvote so they can get a good score
I mean jesus christ!
take a look at my car: SCORE-5.71

Now take a look at this car and it nearly has a better score than i do :?
SCORE-5.47

whoah. Flame is wrong. (the name of user "flame") He is a friend and doesn't really care about nfs just likes to vote and he do whatever. But he not the downvoter. I saw him vote all the way. He did do couple of 1s 3s 2s and 5s. but some above 5.

Hey some SiMpAn guy voted mine a 2, he might be the bad guy..

Here thay are the real downvoters... maybe users who vote as guests, or maybe friends of some users who downvote the other rivals.
Notice that the higher rated cars have the higher number of votes

Isn't it an idea to stop with guestvotes
That guests CAN vote 4 normal showroom cars but not 4 challenge cars?

No, I havent suggested that. I only say that voting as a guest it is more easy to downvote/upvote.
IMO guests should be able to vote, but watch the results, 80%of people are voting 1, 2 and 3points!!

There is one thing I need to clear up: the definition of downvoting.

Downvoting is when somebody votes all cars a very low score (below 3) for the purpose of improving their car's standings.
The same goes for upvoting.
And both practices are forbidden and will be punished by having user's car removed from the competition.

I advise you all to stop sending me pms about the 1 ratings your car has received. Voting 1s is not forbidden.

Another thing:

Down/Upvoting with multiple usernames has become so frequent that we won't even bother to warn you. If you're caught, all your usernames will be deactivated, votes deleted and ip banned.
Yes, that means you won't be able to register on this site anymore.

That counts for both showroom and sr challenge.

I never imagined it would come this far. We have a really large set of ips banned. Everybody get a life and stop up/downvoting.

Why don't you limit to one vote per IP address? It doesn't work very well for dial-up connection, but it should work not bad for broadband connection which they have a static IP for some month.

Because of some isps (aol for example) that use caching. As a result everyone who uses that isp has the same ip.

I think it would nice for the comps to be totally anonymous, no comments, rankings, in game names blacked out(after approval), till the end when all is revealed, it should be about the cars not people. its just an idea, prob alot of work though, but i think it would help.

totaly agree because if you write that you dont like someones car he can downvote your car and you are pushed not to write any coments at all, or write not ewerything what you think, if coments shuld be anonimus it wuld slove this problem, and about rankings, i think its good idea not to show rankings at all before comp ends. this is what am thinking 8)
