As you will understand better below, if you have the European NFSU2 version, you really don't need to read more, unless you belong to a Clan that has americans or asians mates, and you will want to play with them. Yeah, you are starting to guess the problem...
Although I am European (Portuguese), as many of you, I have the US version of this game. I order it from an Online Store in Sweden, that send me the Asian/Pacific version, in other words, the US version.
Just like me, you guys noticed that there are almost no game rooms and the number of players Online is something like 100... This has a very simple explanation: EA just had a brain orgasm when they saw the quarter profits and something got broken... The problem is this: US NFSU2 version players can't play EU NFSU2 version ones. And also, it seems that PS2 players are unable to play PC players. Although the amount of filters and absence of a free room can justify, in some degree, the lack of rooms, this is the main reason.
US holders are the biggested victims of all this, for 2 reasons:
a) In the EU Server are up to 600 players online and US Server has 150...;
b) US NFSU2 doesn't has the Vauxhall Corsa, which is the only car that in some tracks can fight the Corolla.
Some Clans started to work on possible solutions and one was found. I personnaly tested it and it works 100%!
This is only, of course, for PC.-----> Go here and downlload this patch:

Now, open the zip and extract the Corsa and 106 files to the Cars directory of your game. Mind you that it has to be Cars\106 and Cars\Corsa.

This is the European NFSU2 Original speed.exe file (Thanks to Team Venom).
-----> Go to your NFSU2 directory and rename your speed.exe to speed_us.exe!
-----> Unrar the EU speed.exe to your directory and rename it to speed_eu.exe.
Now, if you run speed_us.exe you will play on the US NFSU2 Server. If you run speed_eu.exe you will use the EU NFSU2 Server.
There are no problems of compatability with your profile!
Your Online Ranking is independent in each Server, this means that in the EU Server you must start from scratch again and work your way out to Elite!
If you have an EU version and want to play on the US Server, repeat the process, but instead take the US only cars to your NFSU2 Cars directory and use an US "speed.exe", which is quite easy to find, since all piracy in this game was made around it. What reminds me, although you can use a NO-CD Patch in the US version of the file, you can't on the EU version.
And remember: to play Online you need to BUY the game! So don't think this is a solution if you have a copy. The reason why we can use all this "speed.exe" files and even apply the NO-CD Patch, is because the key is stored in the Registry.
